The Jeremy Kyle Show. Middle class man shouts at poor people who aren’t terribly bright, for not being perfect humans. So pleased it ended.

On X Factor and BGT when they used to show ‘funny’ auditions of people who believed they had talent but really didn’t so got laughed at. They then brought them back for the final to do a humiliating routine live so they could be laughed at more.

Supernanny. Childless woman who can barely speak properly pulls lemon faces, tells parents they’re shit and Instills sudden and sharp changes in the child’s home where actual camera are focussing on them when they’re distraught and upset

Sun sea and suspicious parents. Mum and dad spying on their adult children from a rooftop in Greece whilst said child gets off with a stranger. CREEPY!

ugh such a shame a forced Ruth comment has been thrown in the thread (and FYI cleft palates aren’t just a li that needs to be repaired they often point to much, much more severe underlying problems)

Forced Ruth?

Bras are underwear, emphasis on the ‘under’. Ie. They were worn beneath your clothing, not being on shown.

I'm glad I don't wear one if I'll get judged for the straps being on show when I wear a vest top.

Smoking on planes 🤮 So disgusting!! Think it got banned around 1996

Allywill · Today 20:05
it was banned in 1986 on US planes and 1988 on all planes

I flew with Aeroflot (Russian airline) in 2001 and we sat in the smoking area at the back!

Lovemusic33 · 30/11/2022 20:22

Haven’t read the whole thread so I maybe repeating what has already been said.

Little Britain - taking the piss out of fat, elderly and disabled people.

I agree with super nanny.

stuntbubbles · 30/11/2022 20:09

I hate that I know this and I’m not going to write them but:

sp•••ic
re••rd

I have a physical disability and well remember being called both of these. One name that used to cause hilarity was sp*ic on elastic !! Children can be cruel. I think my contribution to the thread would be that this kind of bullying was allowed to continue unchecked when I was in junior school in the 1960’s. Life was miserable a lot of the time and I actually remember being made fun of during a class and the teacher sniggering at what was said. It’s unthinkable now, and schools have procedures in place to nip it in the bud.

That you could smoke anywhere, I couldn’t imagine speaking up inside a pub now it seems forever ago
That you could run the shop and ask for fags/beer for your mum and they’d just serve you

SweetSakura · 30/11/2022 20:23

nannykatherine · 30/11/2022 20:17

Totally agree
I’m childless but been a nanny for decades
carong for children in a compassionate and thoughtful child Centred way..
it’s an insult to childless women !!!!

I completely agree. I have met many brilliant childless /child free people who work in education and childcare and far better and more experienced than me.

nannykatherine · 30/11/2022 20:23

HelloDaisy · 30/11/2022 20:17

Definitely this!

What will they look like on 20 years

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 30/11/2022 20:23

nannykatherine · 30/11/2022 20:21

And the children already know they have to perform and put on a fake act as soon as the phone is pointing at them ..how will they grow up ???

I agree.

Its one thing agreeing with your adult OH and pretending on camera that you don’t know exactly what’s going to happen when she says “Can you look into the beck of this water bottle for me”. But picturing a parent saying to their 6yo “when daddy comes round the corner make sure you scream and throw the pillow at him ok darling” makes me want to turn inside out with cringe

@RincewindsHat
In 2019, Mr Justice Hayden who observed: ‘I cannot think of any more obviously fundamental human right than the right of a man to have sex with his wife,’ when presiding over a case where a man wanted to be able to have sex with his mentally ill wife even if she was unable to give her consent (and some people defended this statement and took umbrage when female MPs pointed out that it's the same as legitimising marital rape).

Good grief. Appalling 😡

Teachers keeping kids gender and name changes a secret from parents (in my day secrets were a big safeguarding red flag).

What does Jo Frost’s lack of children have to do with anything? It doesn’t make her any less qualified a nanny.

Completely agree! I think she spoke a lot of sense 😄Woman tells child to behave! Shock! Horror!

Bonjovispyjamas · 30/11/2022 20:25

Mixed changing rooms in clothes shops.

Gwenhwyfar · 30/11/2022 20:25

"people are able to take photos of anyone they want and upload them online without consent (deepfaking trend as well, awful)"

I'm not in the UK and I can't do that. I prefer the British logic though - if you're out in public accept that you may be photographed.

greenfieldsblueskies · 30/11/2022 20:25

The program called The Word back in the 90s it was vile

Christmasthatcutsit · 30/11/2022 20:00

conspiracy time
sterilise children
reduce population

Not conspiracy. The trans numbers of girls is ridiculous and frightening. Don’t get me wrong- trans people exist and deserve every possible support. What is wrong are puberty blockers and to normalise this in children is criminal. Children need mental health support not surgery and medication at a young age. Should be done after puberty but I’m sure I’ll be flamed for this. How has it become normal to hormone treat children that causes irreversible issues? Scary

@JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue visable bra straps ? Its a bra thats all

Tonty · 30/11/2022 20:26

Childless woman who can barely speak properly pulls lemon faces,

You sound so much better than herHmm

As for the talent shows, I believe no one is dragging them kicking and screaming to take part. I think most of them actually enjoyed their few moments of fame and for some, it led to a bit of work for them locally. Not everyone is a victim.

Gagaandgag · 30/11/2022 20:28

FeelWellEnoughToTellYou · 30/11/2022 18:47

The utter abuse and cruelty that the meat and dairy industry force on trillions of animals every year.

Barns, cages, anal and vaginal rape, sow cages, male chicks thrown alive in to blenders, and that's before they get to the pure hell that is a slaughter house.

And we ridicule the people who speak out about it. One day, we will hang our heads in shame. Not in my lifetime though.

Absolutely heartbreaking

Yes I’m sure being laughed at by a theatre full of people plus millions at home and being made to look like a complete idiot was a blast. Might do that for my next day out with the kids.

I can sadly top that, my friend will get her child to pose, smile etc and then she will go through the pictures or videos and if they're not up to standard, she will tell the child, 'you weren't smiling properly, you don't look happy enough' and she then gets the children to do the whole thing again until she's happy enough to post it! 😱

In the 70s no one wore seatbelts in cars. Kids clambered about on seats. Babies were thrown in in carrycots. Drink-driving also ok. Vinyl seats hotter than the sun. Smoking in cars.

Some people did…my father installed child seats and seatbelts for us in the back of every car we had, until the first car with standard rear seatbelts in, maybe, 1984ish? I was born in 1971. He smoked, but never in the car or at home. He’s also always been very anti drink driving. Though, even now aged 75 he drinks far more than I do!
