Was expecting a parcel today, 24 hour tracked, in all day only to discover a card through the door. I didn’t hear the knock even the dog didn’t. Went online to redirect only to find ‘sorry something went wrong’. Called them and the earliest is December 5th. This is such rubbish and sick to death of the tap and scarper approach with them.

I have noticed here that often they don't even try to deliver, they just have our mail person drop the delivery cards in with our regular mail. I have a camera at the front so I know they haven't tried to deliver my parcel(s).

IzzyGee · 29/11/2022 17:10

I’m a postie. It is more work to write a card and take the item back to the office. Just answer the door/ get a doorbell/put a sign on the door saying you are deaf please hammer on the door.

The only time posties should be delivering prewritten cards is to buildings with buzzers. (Parcel delivery couldn’t acccess building on day one, writes card for delivery by walking postie on day two.)

Just answer the fucking door.

Merryoldgoat · 29/11/2022 17:10

Service with so much has gone down the swanny of late.

Nothing lasts, no one dies what they promise and people on the phone are unbelievably shit.

I’m totally over it.

the80sweregreat · 29/11/2022 17:13

It's true, everything has turned to poo lately.
I hate having to ring anyone.

luxxlisbon · 29/11/2022 17:15

Two times I have managed to grab the postman as he was walking off as I heard the letterbox go when the slip was posted through but somehow not them knocking 🤔 and they didn’t actually have the parcel out with them!! ‘It was too big’ no idea what they mean by that, the parcels were no bigger than a shoe box.

I avoid selecting the Royal Mail option wherever I can, they are so useless compared to proper couriers.

alloalloallo · 29/11/2022 17:20

I was walking past the front door a couple of weeks ago when the postman put a missed delivery card through the letter box.

He definitely hadn’t knocked - I was expecting a parcel so was listening out for him

Immediately opened the front door (scared the life out of him) - and he admitted he hadn’t brought the parcel out with him so I’d have to go and pick it up.

Judging by the amount of people making the same complaint at the collection depot, it seems to be a regular occurrence

Globe22 · 29/11/2022 17:21

My postie is ace, he came back on Thursday with a parcel that he couldn’t deliver earlier in the day as it had to be signed for, and no one was in. Above and beyond. In my experience most posties have done a good job 👍

I love the posties round here. If you have a smart phone download the app to track things and request redelivery/safe place. It's so much easier. My posties are absolute legends and leave it in my safe space.

It may well be that the only time they should put cards through is when there are buzzers, but that's not the reality.

Card was put through my door at 11.38 on Sat morning. I saw it at 11.40 (postie nowhere to be seen by then). I was either in the hall or kitchen at 11.38 and the doorbell was most definitely not rung. I would happily have answered the f***g door if the bell had been rung.

So I made a trip to the sorting office on Monday to find it closed 10 mins before the advertised time, and then another trip this morning to finally collect it.

Jaybird43 · 29/11/2022 17:34

I totally agree - I had the same - we have a loud doorbell and a big dog - sat in the lounge reading a book last Monday morning, walked by the front door on the way to the kitchen and there was a “we missed you” card through the letterbox… they didn’t knock and even the camera doorbell showed they didn’t knock!

Is your doorbell broken? Do you have a massive dog?

Lettuceandtomatoes · 29/11/2022 17:36

I’m certainly not deaf and neither is the lab…..so do one!

This happened to me today too! Annoying. I clicked the link to redirect but the website doesn't work and I keep getting the 'something went wrong' message too. Just going to go to the depot and get it myself tomorrow.

I'd answer the fucking door if the postie or Amazon delivery driver knocked on the fucking door or rang the fucking bell.

Could @IzzyGee comment be any more patronising?

Maybe read the OP.

@Jaybird43
Just got a vision of your dog sat in the living room reading a book 📖

stuntbubbles · 29/11/2022 17:42

Is it time for another Royal Mail slag-off thread already? It’s been at least five minutes.

Namechange1345677 · 29/11/2022 17:43

Its no wonder the royal mail are declining! I've very little sympathy for their strikes as they don't actually seem to do any work atm.

I've had exactly the same. Caught them putting a card through when they don't actually have the parcel with them.

stopringingme · 29/11/2022 17:43

@oceanbleu
I think they are on strike tomorrow and Thursday so you might have to check to see if open.

oceanbleu · 29/11/2022 17:43

@stopringingme oh! Thanks for letting me know

Oh sorry. Are people not allowed to have a moan when someone who is being paid for providing a service isn't providing it? Is it the ops fault that the postal workers are striking? No. Have a day off.

dolor · 29/11/2022 17:45

Are any of you even aware or CARE about the strikes with royal mail, and the fact that they aren't being paid anywhere near enough? Honestly I'd put a fucking card through the door every single time with the way folks are carrying on here.

They bring you so much and all you do is moan.

Oh no, you had to make a phone call, oh no, it was inconvenient.

You know what's inconvenient? Not being paid enough and treated with respect.

Shut up. Fucking hell.

Again. Is that the ops fault? No.

You'd be pissed off if the nurses stopped changing catheters because they're underpaid and striking no?
