Awake in pain, can I wake my husband up for support or is that mean?

I’ve been awake for hours due to a horrid infection. I have started to feel really anxious and not sure if I need to go to a 24 hour supermarket to try and get some medicine. Should I wake my husband for support or is that mean? I know he can’t make the pain go away

Hope you're feeling better soon op. Take care cos a kidney infection is awful

Thanks all for your messages. I am still taking the antibiotics and although it’s not 100% I am so much better. I was awake peeing every 20 mins again the last 2 nights between like 2-4am. No idea why it’s so much worse at night?!?

@Babysitter12 assuming you’re trying to be funny! Actually I’m the bread winner in our household and have had to work through the last few days, luckily allowed to WFH. So balancing a painful infection and working isn’t so fun…

the doctor only prescribed 3 days of antibiotics so hoping that’s enough to clear it up! Will move to ibruprofen from paracetamol as that is good advice x

Cranberry juice. If it feels like an infection try bio yoghurt there. Put an S.T in place to protect your knickers. I wish you a speedy recovery.

I'm glad you're feeling better. Is worse at night because you have less wee of you van believe it. The less wee you have the more painful it is to combat this you may drink a pint of water every hour during b the day. You will still be up weeing but it won't be as bad. If you rarely get uti's 3 days will be enough. The other tip is afterb sex immediately go and have a wee. That is the one thing that seems to help me.

Mandyjack · 01/12/2022 08:10

Keep drinking plenty as you don't want the infection spreading to your kidneys. Pomegranate juice is also very good.

It might help to get one of those multipacks of 100% cotton pants. The cotton is better in this situation, I think. And wash the underwear you have very thoroughly because you can be re-infected from it.

Forgot to say, just rest and look after yourself to give yourself a chance to recover. Hope you feel better soon, this kind of thing is horrible!

I think if you need support you should be able to wake your partner whatever time of night it is. I would be fine with being woken up if someone needed me, partner or not.

However, my (soon to be ex, can you guess why?) husband, last time I woke him, got me a glass of water. Then said I'm off back to bed now, I don't want to be too tired for work in the morning. Leaving me collapsed on the bathroom floor slipping in and out of consciousness!! Previously, when I had a horrific eye infection, he went out the door saying you'll be OK getting DS to school won't you? I realised I would be OK getting DS to school, as I was holding his hand and it didn't matter that I couldn't see. However, getting home again would be more of a challenge. He also wouldn't help me get to the doctor or the hospital that day. He told me to get a taxi to the hospital and he was sure that the taxi driver would help me get inside. The day a gate rebounded on my and cut my head, I phoned him as I shouldn't be on my own with 2 kids and a head injury. He said I'm just about to get on a plane, I can't come home. My husband lacks empathy and compassion.

I hope you are better soon OP. Perhaps have a conversation with DH about whether it is acceptable to wake him if it happens again. Sometimes what you need in these situations is a big hug.

I totally sympathies I use to suffer from it on a regular basis... Haven't for a long time.. Use to sit down stairs in pain on my own too.... If he's an understanding man wake him for some comfort... I always keep meds but strong black coffee helps flush it through the system x

I would not wake someone up for cystitis !😀
so sorry you are in pain, hope by now the pain is much less.
but Yabu to consider waking him up ,best to allow him a decent sleep so he can go out first thing to get you what you need.🌈

Legallypinkish · 01/12/2022 14:53

I get it a lot but peeing is so painful I try not to go too much. The last little bit of pee causes so much pain. Sitting in a warm bath helps alot.

JKDcot · 01/12/2022 20:29

Great advice all thank you. I’m on last antibiotic and still not feeling like it’s gone so I’ll call gp tomorrow to see if I need more. I didn’t realise you could be reinfected? It’s not a nice experience so hoping it will pass soon

Bio yoghurt isn't going to do a thing for cystitis.
