We had dental appt at 3. Dentist is in the next county (yes, COUNTY) along a horrible A road. When weather bad, lorries regularly tip over and the raod is often closed due to weather.

It is extremely windy/haily today and so I've rearranged appt for next week. However - school think she's leaving at 2 to go to dentist, now I've cancelled I'm toying with still collecting her at 2 and bringing her home to bake chocolate muffins with me an DS (age 3) and snuggle up in front of the fire.

Its a bad idea isn't it

I don't think it's going to kick off at all. We're talking about a couple of measly hours. It's in 'AIBU'. Somepeople have a differenet people, that doesn't mean I care.

I don't think it's the end of the world and frankly it makes you a wonderful mum that you want to spend that time with her making muffins. But I would have bottled it too!!!

Baking cakes not a good enough excuse for skiving. Last year I made DS late for school cos he had to build a snowman. Well, he's 6, we very rarely get snow here and he looked out in the garden and said he didn't know how to build one I felt it my moral duty to make him late for school and fulfil a vital part of his education.

I kept my 7yo off school yesterday. He did have a bad chest and was up alot in the night so he was tired but I really thought he needed a break and a rest at home. Hasanyone else felt that?Sorry to take over the thread M by the way I would of baked too but accept the 'wrong messages' etc

MamaG · 01/02/2008 12:58

Sarahjct and Ubergeekian - I love you!!!!! Always thought it was only me with this view. You've summed up exactly how I feel about the whole 'school thing'. Seriously, its nice to know I'm not on my own!

ds goes to his dads every weekend and he is at school all week. I dont get to do anything with him reallly, just cook his tea, bath him and put him to bed so sometimes these things wont hurt surely!

duchesse · 03/02/2008 17:58

I think it's a fab idea!

hercules1 · 03/02/2008 18:00

She'll remember that afternoon I expect for years but won't remember the afternoon in school.
