To think Royal Mail workers should not be striking

Hitthehighseastoday · 27/11/2022 00:55

They’ve already been offered a 9% pay raise and declined. Royal Mail is already making a loss. It’s a national service for the public which is now being severely disrupted by strikes, it’s appalling.

@7upandup mind you some of the managers deserve the back lash they're going to get tomorrow.

I wonder if @Yants will enjoy working tomorrow, with the "we've got casuals" so we don't won't give you overtime and don't need you will be happy tomorrow! GrinGrin

7upandup · 01/12/2022 19:20

@Conkersareback meanwhile an office in dundee donated 500 quid to local food bank even whilst striking and not getting paid. Posties are the good guys.
So much mail being kept back because Simon has decided Royal Mail is now a parcels business instead of a letter and parcels business. People will soon complain nhs letters, dvla, revenue and customs, other important letters aren't getting through.

And Christmas cards.......

Very important to some!

Conkersareback · 01/12/2022 19:29

@7upandup and replacement credit and debit cards, they're "not important" are they?

7upandup · 01/12/2022 19:32

@Conkersareback it's so sad. Some older people especially love receiving cards.
If ever there ever was an example of money and greed ruling over humanity it's this. Anyone that doesn't support the posties needs to have a look at their values.

MissBattleaxe · 01/12/2022 19:34

workers only strike when nothing has worked and when they haven't been listened to. Don't blame the workers for inconvenience. Blame the fat cat shareholders for not listening and not appreciating the fact that without the posties they'd have no bloody business.

ut it's not an nationalised service anymore. It's been privatised and that's the problem! It's all about profit and the workers are being exploited whilst the shareholders plan their next yacht/tax break.

Of course they do, but they don't make more money for fat cat ST!

I mean really, you've got to realise it's only about. £££££££

7upandup · 01/12/2022 19:45

It's also not a 9% pay rise.
If anyone is interested in the facts Dave ward is on at 8pm lbc radio to answer questions from the public. Simon Thompson refuses to engage in any debate on the matter.

Did you see the interview where it showed people writing on a board telling ST how to answer the questions?

Conkersareback · 01/12/2022 21:12

@7upandup call in been extended!!!

7upandup · 01/12/2022 21:15

@Conkersareback I know spineless twat can't even give an honest answer.
Thompson to go!!!
Watching now

dogdaydown · 24/01/2023 16:38

@Yants how's the CEO doing now..

Recalled to parliament, because he's a liar.

Share price must be rocketing now...

When's your next shareholders meeting?

It's all gone badly wrong Simon Yants!

Florenz · 24/01/2023 18:04

The whole company is a mess. The workers still think it's the 70s and the public have no choice but to use Royal Mail if they want something delivered. The management are useless. I do not think Royal Mail will exist by the end of the decade.

Monkeychowder · 24/01/2023 18:17

Hitthehighseastoday · 27/11/2022 17:16

You could argue though that the postie’s pleading poverty are lacking in credibility, this is as they are seemingly coping with not being paid for days on end while striking.

You could argue that in your seemingly narrow opinion you haven't got a clue the lengths some of us are going to to cope...

The workers don't think it's the 70s, that is ridiculous!

Love the fact you've missed the issue is the CEO!

It’s nothing like the 70’s😂

Theees a million alternatives to Royal mail

Oh you're back talking shit again! Most of the RM workforce weren't even born in the 70's. But nice try anyway.

Florenz · 24/01/2023 22:25

They don't have to be born in the 70s to think it's still the 70s in terms of the company they work for. Royal Mail isn't entitled to anything, they have to compete with the other delivery companies. They're a private company, the government won't bail them out if they fail. They need to modernise, and modernise fast if they want to survive.

wildpeaches · 24/01/2023 22:49

It's not about modernising or not you absolute prat! It's about lies and deceit from the big boys at the top. It's about how the company has continued to make massive profits year on year without passing it down to the service and the workforce. And instead have paid out millions to themselves, their millionaire & billionaire shareholders, all while lying and laying claim to everyone about 'losses'. As well as all the other shit that's been spewed out to try and discredit the workforce. Clearly you've missed the part where Simon Thompson outrageously and blatantly lied in a parliamentary hearing last week and has been re called to amend the 'accuracy' of his statements. Fantastic to see Darren Jones MP giving ST a good grilling while he bumbled on, his little cabbage face twitching, with his 'inaccuracies'.

Florenz · 24/01/2023 23:13

I don't even know why Parliament are involved. It's a private company.

The company is on a downward spiral. A lot of their practices are 40 or 50 years out of date and are only done because the staff refuse to accept modernisation that will automate processes and make them surplus to requirements. They're modern day luddites. The other companies will automate everything that can be automated, and take RM's business through being cheaper, quicker and more efficient and RM workers will blame everyone but themselves.

wildpeaches · 24/01/2023 23:28

You know absolutely nothing about the working practices of RM. This is very obvious. The RM workers won't blame themselves, if RM folds, because it's not their fault. It's Simon Thompson, et al, that are purposely running the services and the business into the ground.

Parliament are involved because funnily enough even private companies have to follow the law, this includes Royal Mail who are covered by the Postal Services Act. This act doesn't just apply to Royal Mail either. It was a parliamentary hearing for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. It wasn't just about RM. Obviously if you knew anything about this whole situation you'd know this. Instead you're here spouting bullshit on MN with not a single clue what you're talking about.

Not if you want a letter delivering cheaply to anywhere in the uk. Lots of small online retailers use this service, even if no one sends you any letters.
