To think Royal Mail workers should not be striking

Hitthehighseastoday · 27/11/2022 00:55

They’ve already been offered a 9% pay raise and declined. Royal Mail is already making a loss. It’s a national service for the public which is now being severely disrupted by strikes, it’s appalling.

That’s the point @Hitthehighseastoday a postie was a good job but RM have whittled that down year on year - why would you want them and their families to struggle while they take strike action?

Conkersareback · 27/11/2022 17:19

Hitthehighseastoday · 27/11/2022 17:16

You could argue though that the postie’s pleading poverty are lacking in credibility, this is as they are seemingly coping with not being paid for days on end while striking.

You could argue that they're giving up Christmas for the greater good!

So just accept being treated like shit and don't make a stand?

Said every rich Tory!

You could argue, that you are totally ignorant about how a union works?

Are you a direct descendant of thatcher?

Why the nastiness and bullying???

Also if you watch the sky news interview with a union secretary. You’ll see the union person allege that staff have had “threats” made against them by Royal Mail but he then refuses to go into detail about what these threats are, you can’t do this as then your point lacks credibility

Anyone who is a postie or has a postie in their family will know the significance of todays date and why this statement is so ridiculous.

7upandup · 27/11/2022 17:25

@Hitthehighseastoday wrong. He explains what the threats are. Send the link and you will say. He was hesitant to state what the threats are as he didn't want a slanging match but when pressed he stated which those threats are and as a Royal Mail employee I can confirm he is correct.

This was the video:

He does not go into detail about what the threats are. He gives a very high level and generic description. You cannot make an allegation like that and then refuse to go into detail as it makes your point less credible.

The tories sold it off to their mates dumb bum

7upandup · 27/11/2022 17:30

The link is showing small clips from the interview. The full interview explained what those threats were. He did not swerve the question.

In the YouTube clip he appears to not go into detail. However if there was a longer interview and he went into detail about what the threats are then I accept I may potentially be wrong. Do you have a link to this ‘full interview’ please?

Erm he did explain the threats in the interview In your link Confused
I don't know what else you wanted him to explain?

A lot of things used to be a good job but the world changes. People aren't reliant on letters anymore and there are many companies that deliver parcels. The RM are in a good position as they hundreds of years of history and the Royal Warrant. But they still have to compete. If the post people keep going on strike and refusing to change their hours and how they work, customers are just going to go elsewhere for a cheaper and better service.

you work for the RM do you? Or do you think the people who actually work there might know a bit more about it?

7upandup · 27/11/2022 17:36

@Hitthehighseastoday why did he have to go into detail? He suggested to speak to postal workers about the threats, he clearly didn't want to get into a slanging match and be unprofessional but stated the threats when pressed.

Italiandreams · 27/11/2022 17:38

Would you still do a job if it meant a significant change in your living standards and quality of life? My husband will not be able to afford to be a postman due to having to now pay childcare costs and a less than inflation pay rise. He is far from alone. I guess that is what they want though. It’s a shame because currently the posties in my husbands office provide so much more than a mail delivery service to many vulnerable people and did all through lockdown.

Conkersareback · 27/11/2022 17:38

@LucilleLou by OP and others saying unskilled workers deserve fuck all? Not sure, perhaps tag them and ask them?

I agree nasty bullies, but that's life, they think the working man/woman man deserves fuck all.

Conkersareback · 27/11/2022 17:39

@Hitthehighseastoday what's your job?

I've worked with the Royal Mail before so I know the culture of the company is like.

And at the end of the day, it doesn't matter to the customer. It's up to the company to provide a service and the postmen to do their job, and customers to choose which delivery company to use.

Conkersareback · 27/11/2022 17:42

Interestingly first post or name change @Hitthehighseastoday
