To feel disgusted with myself for just doing this

Itsfridayforgiveyourself · 25/11/2022 19:26

Went to a drive through before, ordered my Dd a happy meal and myself a Big Mac, Mcchicken sandwich, cheeseburger and coke. No idea why, just always wanted to order my favourite things and not do the meal thing. Generally always with Dh and would feel kind a pig in front of him.
I barely ever drink Coke either, literally only when I have a mcds or pizza, which doesn’t sound like it by this thread, but is pretty rare!
Whyyyyy 🙈it wasn’t even that bloody good, not like I imagined it 😫

And I simply do not believe someone would buy a 6-month old a happy meal

🤦‍♀️

DillDanding · 25/11/2022 20:52

oops - just saw she is not 6 months old. But the rest? No way.

JMAngel1 · 25/11/2022 20:53

And this is why the NHS is in the state it's in.

YukoandHiro · 25/11/2022 20:53

Blimey! I wouldn't be able to eat all that.

If it's a one off no harm done though. We all pig out from time to time.

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 25/11/2022 20:53

I voted YABU because I don’t think you need to feel disgusted with yourself.

You wanted some junk food; so what?

Crucible · 25/11/2022 20:53

My order is filet o fish, large fries and milk. Has been the same since I was a kid. I used to like the apple pies, but they became basically air inside, no more than about a teaspoon of filling.

Big shout out to all on this thread to donate to Ronald McDonald Houses. You can do it on the screen or at the till, it's a brilliant charity. Pennies all count X

Going for a full house

Eating a lot one time doesn't make people obese. And obesity isn't the biggest drain on the NHS.

I thought it was because the Tories are systematically dismantling it for their own gain but happy to stand corrected that it’s because OP had a couple of burgers that one time. What power she wields!

ILoveToads · 25/11/2022 20:55

@PurpleButterflyWings

This was a light hearted thread, chill out! Of course I was judging, that was the point I was making.

Nope, wrong again. That’ll be because of 10 years of being stripped to the bone thanks to the Tories.

AllOfThemWitches · 25/11/2022 19:54

It's so funny when people think they're special because they never eat at McDonald's.

yeah!

but I would struggle to eat 2 large burgers and nuggets (I'm a chubster, size 16/18 and i love food)

ConnieTucker · 25/11/2022 21:00

Christ in a bike, there is a lot of normalising of disordered eating here through belittling others.

Yumfood · 25/11/2022 21:01

Tonight I had 2 cheese burgers, 9 chicken nuggets, cheesy dippers and large fries, i would have had a festive pie as well but it was missing out the bag when delivered ☹ now im chugging water which makes me feel less guilty 🤣

Doing this once doesn't mean you have disordered eating. In the same way getting drunk once doesn't make you an alcoholic.

kateandme · 25/11/2022 21:02

PurpleButterflyWings · 25/11/2022 20:40

Exactly this. ^ What are people cheering the OP on for? Confused I am not obsessed with dieting or being a teeny tiny eater, but eating 3 full adult meals in one go suggests some kind of issue with eating. In addition, it's not good or healthy, and it's nothing to be proud of.

'It's only once' a few people have said. Once or twenty times, it's still an excessive amount, and is it really once? If so, why ??? Why eat that much? Confused

So @Itsfridayforgiveyourself in response to your thread title YANBU, you should be disgusted with yourself. (You did ask.......) Also, to the mockers, deriders, and 'leave the OP alone'-ers, she DID ASK! Hmm

You dont need to feel proud to eat.
You don't needbto stick within a calorie controlled diet to be healthy.
You don't need to feel ANY guilt over perhaps going over what the body average needs a day. Perhaps even her body might work better because she listened to it and today it just wanted a fuck you 3 burger meal.
It's not over eating or an issue.its just joy from food.
It's a balance.
And you've got the issue if you talk like this to people about food choices.
And it can be healthy.it can be part of a perfectly healthy balanced diet overall.
And even if not.fuck off calling someone disgusting.
no-one food choices or lifestyle should ever be labelled disgusting.

We really do have a skewed, health= food, weight, thinness belief in our society.
That's what I find disgusting.the shame people are made to feel.that the op can't just enjoybthis one meal without guilt.and that people's views on food are verging on harmful.

pinkceilingchoice · 25/11/2022 21:03

Yup but not like you'd assume

I think those who are aghast have the bigger issues

FancyANewID · 25/11/2022 21:03

No chips? Jesus, what a soulless way to eat McD's. I'm not surprised you were disappointed op.

Next time get three full meals so you can at least get the enjoyment of chips to break it up a bit.

Personally I think I'd find three burgers a bit too much meat and bread for my taste. But I'm about halfway through a family sized bar of dairy milk right now so I'm no one to judge.

FFS

I eat really healthily most of the time, but sometimes I choose to have a blow out and eat a whole Dominos large pizza (with extra cheese) 🫣

There is a huge difference between this and someone who has an eating disorder or disordered eating, I would suggest you research this before making such ridiculous comments.

The same as going out for a night and having a bottle of wine, if you did it every night it would be an issue but not every so often.

Mybestyear · 25/11/2022 21:05

I once got what I call a teenage-takeaway from the Chinese - fried rice, curry sauce and chips. Was half way through devouring it when DC asked “what’s for tea”. I said leftover Chinese and they were cock-a-hoop. I then decided I was starving to death so finished it off. I then had to go back to the Chinese and order the same again …. Guy behind the counter really eyeballing me as a greedy bar steward. I then of course had to eat half of the new batch as I hate waste and didn’t want the DC to know what I’d done.
tasted great by the way!

RambamThankyouMam · 25/11/2022 21:06

It's just food. Calm down.

Thats just not true. Binge eating and binge drinking are both problems.

Nope.wrong.
And maybe look to fucked up views like this and others over mcdonalds and on food ,as to half the bloody problem. and the cycle of shame people feel therefore restrict, binge, shame, restrict, binge, shame.
And perhaps get out of the daily mail.obesity isn't a disease or apocolyspe on our world.our obsession on worth equals thinness might be.

Of course they are, but this is not an example of either of those things.
