2 adults and 2 dc and dog. I'm spending £230 a week. I'm buying brands. I'm wondering if this is unusual or should I cut back. It seems a lot. How much are you spending?

MeMyBooksAndMyCats · 24/11/2022 21:54

About £150 for 4 people + 3 cats includes food, toiletries, cleaning Etc

Athenen0ctua · 24/11/2022 21:56

£50-£60 for an adult and teen, includes loo roll, toiletries etc. Cat food bought separately.

Shutthegatepeter · 24/11/2022 21:56

2 adults (3 adults 2 nights a week) 3 kids, 2 large dogs. About £100 just on food, not including toiletries, cleaning products etc.

MonkeyPuddle · 24/11/2022 21:58

About £75 per week. That’s up from about £50-60 before the price rises.
2 adults, 2 young DC, no pets.
We meal plan main meals, two cheap meals (beans/egg on toast etc) a week.
I buy Asda smart price a lot of the time, I use blue light discount.

MonkeyPuddle · 24/11/2022 21:59

Oh and that’s including toiletries, we use a shampoo bar and £1 conditioner. Loo roll I buy in bulk from home bargains.

chikp · 24/11/2022 21:59

£58 2 adults one young DC. 2 DSC were here at weekend

BHRK · 24/11/2022 21:59

£230-£250 per week, family of five. Including all cleaning stuff and food. Not had to cut back yet but could do

BHRK · 24/11/2022 22:00

Also includes wine

chikp · 24/11/2022 22:00

I'd say £60-£70 a week

Emilyjayne9421 · 24/11/2022 22:00

I spend around £100-110 weekly. That’s for two adults and three children. Including toiletries.

Nobodyyou · 24/11/2022 22:00

£250 2 ADULTS 3 KIDS PER WEEK MIN NON BRANDED

TheWorstWeek · 24/11/2022 22:01

We are the same as you - 2 adults, 2 DC and one dog. We spend about £70-80 on the big weekly shop, including any toiletries/cleaning products, and then maybe £50ish throughout the week when we run out of something/need fresh fruit etc. So about £120-130 a week all in?

Zanatdy · 24/11/2022 22:01

That’s quite a lot. Do you meal plan?

chikp · 24/11/2022 22:01

What we spend is irrelevant though. If you can afford and want to buy branded food go for it

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 24/11/2022 22:01

2 adults, 2 teens and 2 dogs. Averaging about £200 at the moment. I need to cut it down but I don't buy any extras already!

Badger1970 · 24/11/2022 22:03

Probably £180 for 2 adults, including our organic veg box. Now our kids have all left home, we can choose quality over quantity and are thoroughly enjoying being able to do so. We also have busy weekends with family coming home so I always keep the treat cupboard well stocked.

NotDonna · 24/11/2022 22:03

2 adults, 3 teens, a dog and same cost as you op. I’m finding it’s gone up massively and the size of packets smaller (or at least the contents!)

Oysterbabe · 24/11/2022 22:03

I think that's a lot. We don't have a dog. 2 adults, 2 kids and we spend half that. I don't buy brands though.

MonkeyPuddle · 24/11/2022 22:04

It’s all nonsense though isn’t it. You spend what you can afford (hopefully).
its not hard to see that if you swapped brands for non branded products you’ll save money.

TheChosenTwo · 24/11/2022 22:04

£250ish, basically 3 adults and one very hungry 11 year old son who eats as much as me. I’d go so far as to call it 4 adults really as I make him a packed lunch but buy myself lunch mostly on my office days (this doesn’t come out of the food budget, I buy this from my personal spends).
It’s a lot of money really but we have always eaten a lot of meat and buy from either our butcher or farm down the road. Everything else comes from Ocado.

tickticksnooze · 24/11/2022 22:05

How are you spending that much?

usernotfound0000 · 24/11/2022 22:06

That does seem a lot.
We spend approx £80 a week in Aldi. On top of that we pay £6 a week to the milk man, £20 a month on cat food and around £50 a month at Costco bulk buying things like tinned tomatoes, toilet roll and dishwasher tablets.

bloodywhitecat · 24/11/2022 22:06

Around £50 - £70 a week depending on where I shop, me and a 2 year old, includes soya/oat milk and nappies

TreacsPotNoodle · 24/11/2022 22:06

Around £100/£120 per week for 2 adults and a toddler.

That doesn't include toiletries or cleaning products.

ILOVECHEESE79 · 24/11/2022 22:07

Realistically, £80-90 on 1 adult (me!) and 2 nearly 5 year olds, plus 2 felines.
Includes cleaning stuff and toiletries (I hate the latter word, for some reason).
I think I could massively cut back if I cooked from scratch, but I don't.
I hate threads like this as it rubs ones nose in how other people love.
