Should MNHQ Keep the 'Similar Threads' feature?

IMO this 'You might also like' feature revives Zombie threads, causes Active Convos to be cluttered up with threads that are no longer relevant (The wedding was 6 months ago, hopefully she found a frock!) and generally makes MN feel like a dentists waiting room full of out of date magazines.

YANBU - The feature should go
YABU - It enhances my use of MN no end, how did we ever manage without it?

Nope!

Melonapplepear · 21/11/2022 18:24

I'm awful for this 😅 no need for it to be a thing imo

Beees · 21/11/2022 18:25

A huge no from me but apparently we don't actually know what we want so I fear it's a case of out up and shut up.

NuffSaidSam · 21/11/2022 18:26

No.

It would work if the threads were all active, but there is no point in being directed to something's that even a few weeks old never mind months or years old. Completely pointless.

Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia · 21/11/2022 18:30

It's like a virtual version of 28 days later. But less fun.

Pixiedust1234 · 21/11/2022 18:30

Fuck no! Is that explicit enough? Not sure how else to word it 🤔

No it’s awful just resurrecting old threads.

DriftwoodOnTheShore · 21/11/2022 18:32

nope

upfucked · 21/11/2022 18:33

I can’t vote but no.

Thatboymum · 21/11/2022 18:33

It’s a no from me , they’d have been better putting an edit function in

Yourloss · 21/11/2022 18:33

Nope it’s ridiculous. Some of the threads are about what someone should do ‘today’ and prompt lots of responses giving advice but the event was actually six months ago!

Hawkins001 · 21/11/2022 18:34

I like it, as some.threads are timeless

daisychain01 · 21/11/2022 18:39

Content in the era of social networks needs to be current, accurate and complete.

This feature breaks so many of the rules of usability that it reduces my confidence that there are competent people taking care of everyone's data, nor appreciating that their tinkering and testing in a live environment on live data, is so massively against good practice in system development as to be an embarrassment and an insult to end users.

Skinnermarink · 21/11/2022 18:39

NO.

if you want to read a ‘timeless thread’ you can go into bloody classics.

SiobhanSharpe · 21/11/2022 18:40

Found it a/annoying
and b/useless

Bearthepooh · 21/11/2022 18:42

I think keep it but lock them so can't be commented on.

PalatineHill · 21/11/2022 18:42

Hard no.
The search function already does the same job without making upsetting and inappropriate recommendations for posters looking for support- and without creating zombie threads which make the site really annoying to use for everyone.

SnarkyBag · 21/11/2022 18:47

Historically MN are incapable of acting on feedback and any new much hatred feature will always remain.

the forum is mostly troll posts and zombie threads these days. I fear the end is nigh for MN

MandyMotherOfBrian · 21/11/2022 18:48

No.

If their new Search function was up to standard I’d be able to easily find any ‘similar’ threads I wanted to see……

Whinge · 21/11/2022 18:50

It's a no from me.

MichaelGovesLeftNostril · 21/11/2022 18:50

Big fat nope from me but your YABU/YANBU poll will confuse some and skew the overall result I think.

But it's still a big fat nope.

This. With bells on 😀

Saucery · 21/11/2022 18:55

No. It’s a useless irritation at best, but the worst thing about it is the crass and insensitive suggestions it’s constantly throwing up.

itsthefinalcountdown1 · 21/11/2022 18:56

You may also like.. fucking really old threads from 7 years ago about someone's daughter having a tantrum or a thread from 2 years ago about what someone should wear out on Friday night 2 years ago.
