@FayeGovan you are not funny.

Everyone else that clearly don’t want to say this invaluable personal information , you don’t need to post in an aggressive way like you are 5 years old.

I certainly didn’t come here to brag and I think my salary is average.

@FayeGovan is funny and I bet she is also quite super 🎉

fantasialand · 20/11/2022 19:33

28 - £120k + bonus (changes / equity) - tech firm (accountant)

Yawn, someone on double an average salary playing a bragging game.

Surprise surprise I'm 39 and like most mums and women am not earning £49k.

All the more reason to talk about salaries - the politeness around it all partly accounts for the ongoing gender pay gap across many (all?) sectors.

snowbellsxox · 20/11/2022 19:36

Anyone else think some of the best paid jobs take a hit on your health though? I used to do it, screens all day and sat down. I was over my average weight and never felt fulfilled with sitting at a desk all day
My knees started giving way at only 24!

So I left ..

MATHRD · 20/11/2022 19:37

I actually feel quite strongly that we (women/parents) should discuss this. Men do, which is why they've never put up with salary inequality. MN is not representative though- lots more women are 'professional middle class here' that in the real world.

I'm 35. Earn £75k. Human Resources in Education sector so have good pension.

P.S waiting for the first person to come and tell us what their husband earns... Grin

Blubell1981 · 20/11/2022 19:37

I'm quite interested in this post. Maybe it's due to pure nosiness on my part.

Although 41 & £22k as civil servant makes me feel I need a new job. I actually thought I was on an average wage. I'm clearly just a peasant Grin

polkadotdinosaur · 20/11/2022 19:37

Well this makes me feel lousy so far.
Notice how nobody on 20k-35k comments. Which I daresay is a good third of the population if not more

Age: 35
Salary: 45k plus 4k benefits
Sector: Engineering/Construction

Surely OP you can see that by posting your age and above average salary, plus the number of kids you have, you'll be making others feel quite bad about themselves.

They could be on a lower salary and about the same age or older with no option to earn what you do, or they'll have fewer kids and be massively struggling.

You have three desirably attributed you are stealth bragging about. You're young. You're well paid. You have a family.

Shortbread49 · 20/11/2022 19:37

51 and 27k for 3 days academic research

  1. 15k. Part time cleaner and now i feel all sad im not super 😪

Well given the choice between you and someone who likes to value themselves and others on their salary, I know who I'd rather go to the pub with.

Skylab12 · 20/11/2022 19:41

I'm 35, 2 kids work full time and get £29k charity sector. My husband is 34 same salary and in housing. We both work so hard and do jobs where they take a mental and emotional toll! Even if I climbed the ladder I don't think I would ever get close to some of these salaries but we appreciate what we have ♥️

Jojobees · 20/11/2022 19:41

40 NHS band 4. 22k.

RobertaFirmino · 20/11/2022 19:42

P.S waiting for the first person to come and tell us what their husband earns

My husband is on £69.70 per week. He's on Carer's Allowance. Both MIL and myself think he's a damn fine carer.

Salvia89 · 20/11/2022 19:42

TempyBrennan · 20/11/2022 19:43

31, £20k, veterinary nurse.

I would also love to know why HR demands such high salaries! Our HR department are absolutely useless and can’t get basic legal facts right. I don’t trust anything they say without double checking it.
