It’s a no from me, would cost me a fortune to replace all the spotlights!

McT123 · 18/11/2022 07:26

Baconand · 17/11/2022 23:53

Nah, no stables and nowhere near enough grazing to put any in. It’s a No from me.

It's got 26 acres - is that not enough?

Spicypies · 18/11/2022 07:28

Whatevergetsyouthroughthenight · 17/11/2022 23:55

I’m exhausted just looking at it by the amount of cleaning and maintenance it needs. Even if you pay someone else, it’s a full time job just organising what needs doing.

Beautiful though!

This was my immediate thought! Gorgeous, but the upkeep would be a big job and would cost a bomb, not to mention the energy bills. You would need a team of at least 3-4 staff to keep on top of everything… at least one full time groundskeeper, plus a housekeeper and a maintenance person to manage all of the ongoing house jobs. That’s already a few thousand a month, and that’s in addition to the up front 4m price tag, the council taxes, and the surely astronomical energy bills.

The ideal would be to have parents living there who would be happy to have us visit for several weeks over the summer, I think. 😅

Spicypies · 18/11/2022 07:33

Sorry, £5m, not 4!

Peteryougit · 18/11/2022 07:50

Oh, yes please.

20 year old ds could have one cottage, my dad could have the other. Perfect.

Now, just have to work out what to do as my budget for a house is £175k.

maryofthevirginkind · 18/11/2022 07:54

Lovely but two things wrong for that price, they have toilet brushes on show, surely when you're paying that much for a house you can build a shit brush cupboard into the bathroom. The wine cellar is empty - how very dare they!

I'd move in tomorrow having said all that!

Dogstar78 · 18/11/2022 08:14

Absolutely stunning. I am in complete agreement. If you could pick it up and move it to the other side of Hampshire I'd be in. Id love that level of isolation. If you had 4.5m, you'd have a cleaner. I think pools are only tacky when they don't match the scale of the house or are in a tiny garden. Seen some houses where you practically stepping out the back door for a swim.

Dogstar78 · 18/11/2022 08:15

@Spicypies you made me laugh. You have the right idea. Am sure I could slum in the cottage or the west wing.

My friend has a sofa that doubles as an extension cord. You plug in the sofa at the back, then can plug in multiple items into the sides of the sofa.

Whaaaaaaat ? I've never heard of this , 'tis a miracle 😳

@Peteryougit

can you actually buy a house for £175k where you are? You can barely buy a garage for that where I am (SE- obviously).

Whereisthehugeteddybear · 18/11/2022 08:35

Wow. Although am I being to practical by imagining some of the rooms might be chilly/difficult to heat?
DH would have it for the swimming pool, wine cellar and tennis court.
Sadly we are spared the dilemma by it being out of budget!😃

HunBabesSweetieVom · 18/11/2022 08:26

@HunBabesSweetieVom they're not uncommon at DFS type shops. I imagine that house has floor plugs though.
floor plugs would be too stressful for me! Deciding where to put them!

kindlyensure · 18/11/2022 08:47

Ooh it's so lovely. Lot of bathrooms (as pp said, that's a lot of loo roll. Plus drains...) Shame there aren't picture rails - those paintings and lights will leave holes.

Nothing tacky about a swimming pool though. Especially that one with what must be a listed wall next to it. (I have a pool and it's blissful and definitely used more than three weeks a year - one advantage of our drought-filled summer.)

Oh, and a Victorian glass greenhouse next to the tennis court - some really lovely features here... if only it wasn't so rural - and too much land.....

Parky04 · 18/11/2022 09:00

I do like it, but it's around £50k above my budget so it's a no from me!

Igmum · 18/11/2022 09:10

It's gorgeous. I'm sure if I cut down on the avocado on toast I could stretch to it

Toddlerteaplease · 18/11/2022 09:13

Confused by the floor plan. It implies to separate houses.

Yes. And we did, a 4 bed semi, £172k in fact.

You really wouldn’t want to live where I had to move to to be able to buy somewhere though. Unless you like a plentiful supply of drugs being offered to you when you take your toddler to the swings at 10am on a Saturday morning.

We got priced out of renting in the SE where and wanted some stability after our last 4 landlords decided to sell so had to move somewhere we could afford. Lovely house though so it’s swings and roundabouts.

There is. It’s quite easy to tell if you go through the photos. One looks like a barn conversion type thing

McT123 · 18/11/2022 07:26

It’s the wrong sort of land, only a small amount is grazing if you read the details. Rest of it useless for horses.
Putting equine facilities in would cost a fortune. For that price I want the stables already there.

Sheilascarface · 18/11/2022 09:36

Ooh it's lovely.

doris9034 · 18/11/2022 09:41

It's nice .... but even if i had the half a million quid for the deposit, £28k a month on mortgage repayments is a stretch too far, so it's a no from me!

Butchyrestingface · 18/11/2022 09:42

NO NEIGHBOURS. YA DANCER.

MrsMariaReynolds · 18/11/2022 09:45

Lovely home, nightmare location. Seems like you'd need to drive for miles and miles just for shopping. I don't do countryside.

Laiste · 18/11/2022 09:49

emptythelitterbox · 18/11/2022 03:27

I have a big house and all I have to say is light bulbs and toilet roll.

Yes. And fucking guttering!

Big house = big roof and there always seems to be something needs doing and it's always expensive.

mumda · 18/11/2022 09:56

Was that one Robbie Williams?

I think it's been for sale for a long time
