On the who,e, I absolutely love it. Would change a few bits decor-wise, but it’s definitely right up my alley.

And it’s an absolute bargain compared to this house I saw on TV (Britain’s Most Expensive Homes). It has no soul whatsoever and was/is up for a whopping £30 million.

That’s dreadful. More like a luxury modern hotel than a home.

Suemademedoit · 18/11/2022 00:43

I see a house that size, the pool, the tennis court, the land, and I think WORK.

The maintenance required will be insane. Cleaning, heating, decorating, repairs, painting, gardening - roofs, plumbing, electrics, fences, gravel driveways, tarmac parking space, chimneys, lawn, ‘wild’ garden, manicured garden, warm weather outdoor furniture, all the indoors furniture and carpets and rugs and curtains.

And the cost. £5m to buy the thing, tens of thousands to heat it and pay taxes on it, hundred thousand for maintenance and upkeep and repairs. If I were housing a dozen people FT, who all availed of everything and I could divide the costs accordingly per head (and if I had the money 😂) I’d consider it. But if I were housing a dozen people this would be the least of my worries!!

Furries · 18/11/2022 00:44

I know, it’s horrible. I love nosing at property - the programme was worth watching, just to see what crazy prices people would consider for various properties!

echt · 18/11/2022 01:00

Such very low ceilings in such a, at least from the outside. Georgian = high ceilings.

Bluelightbaby · 18/11/2022 02:00

Stunning…….but alas no stables or equestrian facilities so it’s a pass from me

Facecream · 18/11/2022 02:19

It’s nice but I’ve seen better! And I’m a big Georgian mansion fantasist

Mumrey · 18/11/2022 02:25

I’m thinking ‘heating bills’ 😬

HouseOfEssex · 18/11/2022 03:02

@Baconand That was my first thought but description says set in 27 acres and the aerial view shows some decent land at the back? Hilariously I live on a different continent and yet still analysed the listing

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 18/11/2022 03:09

There's no Manège so definitely not

FeelingwearyFeeelingsmall · 18/11/2022 03:25

i might have agreed with you once but now my dream house would be a 3 bed , 2 bath flat with a west facing balcony and two lifts. I no longer want the housework, gardening or maintenance associated with a big house. And if I did have a big house I'd want a water view.

emptythelitterbox · 18/11/2022 03:27

Whatevergetsyouthroughthenight · 17/11/2022 23:55

I’m exhausted just looking at it by the amount of cleaning and maintenance it needs. Even if you pay someone else, it’s a full time job just organising what needs doing.

Beautiful though!

I have a big house and all I have to say is light bulbs and toilet roll.

GetUsedToTheHeatAgain · 18/11/2022 04:08

It really is a bland soulless house to me as others have also said.

kitchen is awful so that would have to come out as would the bathroom, blegh colours.

NiceTwin · 18/11/2022 04:17

It's nice but it would have to have a full equestrian set up and be much further north for me to contemplate it.

Pavlova31 · 18/11/2022 04:39

As others have said in reality very high maintenance for the entire property.
Also being grade 2 listed so lots of restrictions on any updating .
No thanks.

hattie43 · 18/11/2022 04:57

Beautiful

Buildingthefuture · 18/11/2022 05:09

Agree, it is! Grade II means you can do pretty much what you want with the inside and I would add some colour but yes, I love it and would love a house like that! Apart from the outdoor pool - I always think you can only use them for about 3 weeks a year. But if I could afford £5m for a house, I’m sure I could afford to add an indoor pool!!

WonkasBooboofixer · 18/11/2022 05:42

It's beautiful but all that Ivy is causing so much damage to the structure that its a serious liability

I looked around this house last year as DH is in property and it was an open day by his company. I hated it, your right, no soul at all and dont be fooled by the flash gates, around the corner the drive disappears to a narrow track! The only person I could imagine buying it would be someone who is based elsewhere with far too much money as its right near Heathrow.

girlmeetsboy · 18/11/2022 06:21

I like it in general but the kitchen is totally out of character for the era of property, there isn't alot of features. Tha attic room with all those single beds looks like a dorm from mallory towers! (My imagination of it anyway!)

I know very little about horses, but would the big wooden building in photo 21 not do?

It’s a lovely house, but if I was going to live so rurally, I’d like a few mountains nearby. Otherwise, I’ll be spending my imaginary millions on a Georgian townhouse.

FeelWellEnoughToTellYou · 18/11/2022 06:31

It's stunning! I would enclose the pool for year round use brrrrrr, too cold for 9 months of the year.

Duckskitbank · 18/11/2022 06:43

Nope.
An outdoor pool in the uk is insane.

My thoughts exactly!

But it's exciting to view, explore and imagine!

Where are the table lamps in photo 4 plugged in - surely the wires aren’t trailing across the floor?!

They have probably got floor plug sockets hidden under the sofa. I did this in a previous house.

My friend has a sofa that doubles as an extension cord. You plug in the sofa at the back, then can plug in multiple items into the sides of the sofa.
