I don't eat fish fingers often but as a cheat meal they're great. A bit of a non serious meal that harks back to my childhood.

Pubs are also serving them too, round my way with a Jenga style portion of triple cooked chips and crushed peas. Classy 😂

Although I've been revisiting Spam recently too, which seems to be having a bit of resurgence.

My husband bought home spam fritters stuffed with cheese the other day. The picture in the box was pornographic. I’ve never laughed so much. I couldn’t bring myself to eat it though spam freaks me out.

I dunno, I just think most people aren't making that choice to save 57p.

5 fish fillets for £2.50. That's 50p each I think, 80kcal, or 62.5 p/100 kcal, compared to 22p/100kcal for the fingers, I suppose.

There was a guy in my butcher buying offal the other day, as "dog food". But it's human grade. I wonder what the cheapest form of high iron foods are nowadays.

Because I follow your son's train of thought, I forego ant bread, chips, whatever. That being the case, there is nothing to take up the space required by numerous fish fingers - and I don't need to curtail them to fit into a sandwich.

If you're "overweight and a bit piggy" it's not having 4 fishfingers that has done it, it's the quantity of everything else you are eating.

OP, I'd say 4. Right amount for a sandwich too.

Half the packet each in our house which is 5 or 6 each depending on brand. It does depend what you are serving with it though. Sometimes the batter is the carbs and we just have a pile of veg with them. If very hungry we have a bit of mash with it as well. 3-4 would be fine for an adult with a range of carbs (chips, garlic bread etc.) and veg with it. Depends what pudding is too.

This is making me hungry. 😝
