I eat 3 and feel stuffed with 4. Gourmet ones tho, slightly bigger

KatherineJaneway · 17/11/2022 20:31

What size though?

Withnoshoes · 17/11/2022 20:33

I’d rather have more fish fingers than other potatoes or chips etc. so I have 4 with a handful of chips maybe and loads of veg like peas etc.

Three/four is not a greedy portion FFS. But this is mums net so maybe we should only get half of one

LisaLovedUp · 17/11/2022 20:33

Always amazed how much some people eat.

3 for me. 4 for DH

With chips or mash, broccoli and peas.

5 or 6 i s just greedy 😂

You do realise that the amount of fish is quite small (depending on the brand) and it's about 40% crumb coating, so not much difference to the carbs in chips or potatoes?

Herejustforthisone · 17/11/2022 20:35

I have two with a big dollop of mash made from a mix of root vegetables, lots of peas and broad beans, and a spoonful of beans. And I dunk them in a bit of ketchup.

Yeah that was a mistake wasn’t it.

My one year old baby has just eaten two fish fingers ffs.

Mine can also put away 2/3. Some still ends up in the dog (flung from the chair) but I'd say she still eats the majority of 2.

You do realise that sometimes people choose their food based on their taste preferences and not the carb content?

comfortablyfrumpy · 17/11/2022 20:36

I give e here but could easily eat 6 :)

Reading the replies, sounds as if I am being stingy.

LisaLovedUp · 17/11/2022 20:36

I thought the portion size was on the back of packets and it usually gives 3 as a serving/ nutritional value .

Yes, you don't have to follow that of course, but it's what most people eat.

Except on MN where everyone eats double.

comfortablyfrumpy · 17/11/2022 20:36

^^3 not e

TheHateIsNotGood · 17/11/2022 20:36

What's the best way to cook fish fingers please? Somehow they're either mush or dried to a virtually inedible crisp when I try.

If I could cook them properly as a general meal I'd guess 4 for an adult but if it was a very hungry person who also liked my perfectly cooked fish fingers then I could easily see why someone might consume at least 10.

Of course I realise, but the taste is carbs not fish, so your point is rather odd.

DutchessOfMuck · 17/11/2022 20:38

I plate up 3 with homemade chips and beans. I really want fish fingers now.

What irritates me is you hardly get any in the box.

BosaNova · 17/11/2022 20:38

Jjst want to remind everyone that "serving size" is not an actual serving size but whatever number can fit into an acceptable calorie content which will look good on packaging ...

Outsideworld · 17/11/2022 20:39

I’m not in the UK. What size are yiur fish fingers out of curiosity? Our are about 7 cm and very thin..

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 17/11/2022 20:39

I used to think 2 and 1 for a child but dd likes 2 so I have 3

You know carbs have different flavours?

What do ‘carbs’ taste like?

Bouledeneige · 17/11/2022 20:40

I'd have 3-4 with peas

aintnothinbutagstring · 17/11/2022 20:42

Well I guess half a box per adult would make sense, I don't really eat fish fingers cos they're too bland/kiddie food - I'd never serve it as an adult meal, my DH would think I've gone mad.

You have three just because she now has two?

Is this like the new mother on here who’d read that babies should always have one more layer than an adult and panicked, and so took her coat off?

PeekabooAtTheZoo · 17/11/2022 20:49

A finger of fish is just enough to give the kids a treat...
