This is strange this has came up as I was looking at the fish finger portion today. The back of the box said 3. I gave 3 to my dd (10). For an adult I would maybe say 4, although technically the back of the box says 3 so technically it would be 3.

Consistentlytired · 17/11/2022 20:04

This thread is hilarious 😂. We have just had fish fingers homemade chips and Spaghetti hoops/ravioli for tea, I had 4 and dp had 10. My 4 year old could eat 2/3.

“Salad with all the trimmings”

what a depressing statement

Really? I happen to like salad far more than I like processed foods. I also like the homemade dressing and relishes I have with it!

catsonahottinroof · 17/11/2022 20:05

I would say 4 - anymore than that and there is no point, you might as well have a proper fish, either that or three of those jumbo fish fingers.

Itsabitnotcold · 17/11/2022 20:06

4-6. But chips mushy peas, not beans. How on earth is 2 enough for an adult? They're tiny! It's like sharing one battered fish between 3!

It’s the phrase “all the trimmings”; it’s such a “roast dinner” or “Christmas dinner” phrase that I associate with a filling and comfort food meal. It doesn’t feel right with salad… salad is fine but it’s not a roast

Yeah. I like saoad and agree with you about that "all the trimmings"

fionaapple · 17/11/2022 20:09

I'd have 5 with chips and beans/sweetcorn

whowhatwhen · 17/11/2022 20:10

Fish ginger are for children, not adults.

Gymrabbit · 17/11/2022 18:18

With chips and beans I’d have 3 and I’m both overweight and a bit piggy.

anymore is massively greedy.

But an actual piece of breaded or battered fish would equate to more than 3 fish fingers so how is having 4 or 5 or even 6 any worse? Do you only have half a piece of cod fillet?

Says who?😅

SD1978 · 17/11/2022 20:11

@CourtneeLuv - no, lowest so far is only 2 and I'm aghast anyone could possibly eat more......🤣🤣🤣

FabFitFifties · 17/11/2022 20:12

2 - I'm not a small eater by any means, but more than 2 wouldn't seem right - generous with the chips though.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 17/11/2022 20:13

I've just had 5 with some oven chips and peas.

Knowivedonewrong · 17/11/2022 20:13

Here come the competitive undereaters. Ffs!

Bobbybobbins · 17/11/2022 20:14

2 for a child
4 for an adult
Probably 6 for a teenager!!

Jessy, you'd best not come to ours for dinner then. Maybe you want to adjust your ideas too, the ones around being 'massively greedy' 🙄

ScruffGin · 17/11/2022 20:15

Apparently...
"A standard portion of our fish fingers is about 4 for an adult, and 2 or 3 for a child. Every type of fish finger in the Birds Eye range comes in at under 280 calories per adult portion, and that’s about the same as most good-quality fish fingers."
www.birdseye.co.uk/nutrition/fish-nutrition/the-nutritional-value-of-fish-fingers

I would say 4, but DP would probably eat 6

Swampthing55 · 17/11/2022 20:15

Half a box in our house

I like you on all the threads

KimberleyClark · 17/11/2022 20:16

I only ever have two with chips and peas and DH has three. I’m two stone overweight.

redbigbananafeet · 17/11/2022 20:16

CaptaNoctem and Bosanova you're forgetting about the HOMEMADE salad dressing. It's HOMEMADE as in they MADE IT THEMSELVES IN THEIR HOME. Just in case you missed that point in all of the posts. Not only are they better than ti because they are full after 118 calories of fish finders but they also make their own salad dressing. Just in case you were in any doubt of their superiority.

The opposite of salad is processed crap, according to the poster’s response to my comment

wordler · 17/11/2022 20:17

I think it depends what you have with it, and whether it's your main meal of the day. I would say anywhere from 3-5 for a teenager or adult 1-3 for a child under 10.

If you are having potatoes/bread plus 3 more vegetable portions probably only 3. But if you're just having small portion of chips and beans then 4. And if you're not having any potatoes or carbs at all then 5.
