4, eh. Kids eat 4.
Dp sometimes polishes off a full box of 10, full tin of beans, chips and 3 slices of bread.😲😂

IncompleteSenten · 17/11/2022 19:50

As many as you bloody want 😁

bluechameleon · 17/11/2022 19:50

I'd have 3 but wish I'd cooked a 4th.

Ooh, I don’t have a airfryer, do they turn out well?

They are perfect! Crispy and lightly golden, and stay moist inside. Delish.

KettrickenSmiled · 17/11/2022 19:25

and some salad with all the trimmings
Is this akin to the famed Mumsnet Massive Salad, or a new departure?

WHAT are the trimmings @CaptaNoctem ?!

I deliberately avoided using massive but on the off chance that you are really interested (which I doubt) this one had

Mixed beans ( main protein source)
Lettuce - 2 different kinds
Rocket
Coriander
tomato
cucumber
salad onions
pumpkin seeds
homemade apple and chilli dressing

Bonbon21 · 17/11/2022 19:54

I have just had 4... with lots of chips... and mayo... lots of!!🙄😉

Holidayhomehell · 17/11/2022 19:54

Birdseye fish fingers contain 236 cals for 4 fish fingers. For an evening meal, that is a small amount of calories, even if accompanied by mash or chips.

My children eat 4.

thelobsterquadrille · 17/11/2022 19:54

This thread has made me crave a fish finger sandwich.

White bread, proper butter, four fish fingers and a mix of mayonnaise and ketchup. Perfection.

No one’s having a go haha.
My mum thinks I’m the fattest bitch in the world.
But as a previous poster has pointed out, she’s had her 3 fish fingers with a massive pile of chips and beans. I’ve had my 6 fish fingers with just a couple chips as I don’t really like chips that much and a spoon of beans. My mum loves making me feel bad about my body though!

Your way is far healthier and less calorific so, if anyone’s being greedy, it’s her. Maybe count the chips she had compared to yours.

It does sound like she’s pretty nasty from your post so your mistake is not the number of fish fingers you had but the fact that you ate them with her present. Anyone who thought I was “the fattest bitch in the world” would be out of my life in less time than it took to type out this post…

fruktsoda · 17/11/2022 19:55

Four would be okay with plenty of other things to round out the meal, but they're tiny little things, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone wanted six. There's not much to them, on their own.

but that would be akin to cannibalism 😱

Sounds good @CaptaNoctem
Especially the homemade apple and chilli dressing.

4

holycrapweasel · 17/11/2022 19:57

2 for DD
5/6 for DH
3 for me

Sounds lush

DH was away recently and I rarely eat fish fingers but couldn't be bothered to cook something else for myself, so I ate with the children. My DD (11) asked for 5 fish fingers, my DS (9) asked for 4, so I figured 6 would probably be the right amount for me. And it was. (We had them with egg fried rice and steamed broccoli and I would have been left still hungry with anything less).

Aprilx · 17/11/2022 19:59

We always had two when we were children. I don’t really eat them now, but I would have said three.

CorvusPurpureus · 17/11/2022 19:59

Well, if you are eating fish fingers as an adult, & you haven't travelled back in time to the 80s, it's a tasty nostalgic butty.

& 4 FFs fills 2 slices of bread (add cucumber, butter & ketchup), so that's an adult portion.

(Unless you're doubling up on the whole thing, & then it's 8).

I mean, IN the 80s I used to regularly scoff FFs with egg fried rice, & a homemade sweet & sour sauce which mostly consisted of ketchup & pineapple juice, but I was a teenager (actually it was bloody scrummy, to be fair).

Do FFs ever touch a plate these days? OK an easy lunch/tea for small dc, but are adults genuinely plating them up for dinner, rather than just shoving them in a sandwich?

notsinging · 17/11/2022 20:00

(but if I was having a fish finger sandwich I'd have 4).

ODFOx · 17/11/2022 20:01

I'm not counting but can I just say; soft white bread, butter, salad cream or tartare sauce. Not ketchup, brown sauce or any other nonsense.
You are welcome.

HereComeTheGrannies · 17/11/2022 20:01

4 for me. DP could eat the entire box end to end in one big line, swallowing them whole like a duck. 15 month old DD has 2 (half ends up on the floor)

MyNameIsErinQuin · 17/11/2022 20:02

4 is a sandwich for lunch. Maybe 6 for dinner.

LakieLady · 17/11/2022 20:03

Five.

Winterfires · 17/11/2022 20:03

I’d put mayo in my ff sandwich
