Yes I’m posting in Aibu because this is causing ww3 in my house currently.

I have 3 and I'm a bat fastard!

9 year old also has 3, DH has 4.

Gymrabbit · 17/11/2022 18:18

With chips and beans I’d have 3 and I’m both overweight and a bit piggy.

anymore is massively greedy.

6 for me. I move around loads so don't really find it greedy.

Wish I'd read this earlier. You could have had photographic evidence that adults can and do just have 2 fish fingers for an evening meal.

With home made potato wedges and some salad with all the trimmings. Followed by fresh fruit.

Like a PP, the fish is just the protein element of the meal.

“Salad with all the trimmings”

what a depressing statement

RosieBQ · 17/11/2022 19:27

I have 4 but I generally eat like a sparrow. DH eats more than any human I’ve ever met (and doesn’t put on weight), he would probably eat 20 if I put 20 on the plate. So it’s person dependant. But my 5yr old has 4 like me so I think adults need a couple more

ArabellaScott · 17/11/2022 19:27

You can probably put a dab of salad cream on the partridge. Just behind the ears.

Got into a full rage and started reading this comment to DH before I realised the sarcasm 😂

😁

Stravaig · 17/11/2022 19:27

Actual fish?

BosaNova · 17/11/2022 19:27

Diet experts here with all the random cals when it's on the box and/or takes 10 seconds to google.
250 cal a finger😂😂😂

5-6 with potatoes

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 17/11/2022 19:28

KettrickenSmiled · 17/11/2022 19:25

and some salad with all the trimmings
Is this akin to the famed Mumsnet Massive Salad, or a new departure?

WHAT are the trimmings @CaptaNoctem ?!

Caterpillars

DifferentOne · 17/11/2022 19:24

We usually have 3 to share. So 1.5 each. We have them with a few beans and a chip, or occasionally 2 chips if we're really hungry. I can't imagine why anyone would want to eat more than that. Massively greedy. No wonder there is such an obesity problem at the moment.

If we have any leftovers, our cats share what is left.

This is why your cats are so fat massive @DifferentOne
It's feline abuse. You need reporting to 101.

Winterfires · 17/11/2022 19:18

Are you an actual mouse??

No, maybe I haven’t got the fish finger gene?

TBH we have them maybe once or twice a year in a sandwich. I grew up as a vegetarian and they weren’t something that we ate until a couple of years ago. Maybe I’m missing out or doing it wrong but I can’t get excited over a fishfinger because it’s not proper food
I will buy some tomorrow and eat enough to vomit.

Tickledpickled · 17/11/2022 19:29

I’d have said 3

Needmorelego · 17/11/2022 19:29

My daughter doesn't like the smell of fish so I can only eat them when she is at school.
AIBU to pack her off to live feral in the woods?

Excellent idea. I think you should be on Masterchef.

Boooooot · 17/11/2022 19:22

Well sainsburys fish fingers are 53 calories each and I had 6 which is a grand total of 300 odd calories.

Greedy b*tch 😂

optimistic40 · 17/11/2022 19:30

It's weird because in considering my response I realised I would have the same as my kids (who are a tween and a young primary) - three. I'd possibly have more mash / chips. I think kids eat a lot as they're still growing. If my male partner had this meal he'd probably only have three as well.

I’m 5’6 and slim is my point. I don’t feel
the need to loudly chant about food being the devil to make myself feel better/shame those who eat more than me like some posters on here

HideTheCroissants · 17/11/2022 19:30

I have two fish fingers with chips and peas, DH & DS have three.

I know that as a family we seem to eat smaller portion sizes than most though.

I don’t remember getting excited over fishfingers but 2 is not an adult portion whether you find them thrilling or not, obviously you are above fishfingers so it’s odd you’d have an opinion.

Cocorico22 · 17/11/2022 19:31

4 fish fingers = 440 calories, 1/3 of a normal adult female caloric daily intake, I’d say you are overeating.
Unless you all work at the docks”

what? On what planet is the normal female daily calorific intake 1,320? I’d lose 3/4lb a week on that (nearly 60, 5ft 8)

Now now, @KettrickenSmiled - maybe the cats have leftovers too which are then shared between the goldfish in an act of cannibalism. I can’t see how two cats could possibly finish the leftovers from all that food between them.

How tall are you? Like 4 foot?

Mentalpiece · 17/11/2022 19:33

The Mumsnet way is to just eat a couple of the breadcrumbs off the fishfinger, or even nibble a corner off if you're ravenous?
Anything more is gluttony surely??
😁
