To not like him calling me Mummy...

My Husband calls me Mummy around the house while my kids are around, so for example he might shout 'Mummy, do you know where are DS's socks are'...etc
If I have given the kids a snack he will say 'Mummy is there one for me!'
I didn't mind when the kids were really young and he was talking with them but I find it a bit creepy he is using it to directly ask me questions.... am I being unreasonable? Is it me thats overthinking it?

@taliaG I call myself mummy too. Mummy wants you to stay in bed. Goodnight I love you. Come give mummy a hug etc.

I’ll have to be careful that I don’t forget my own name. 😆

😂😂 we do this in my house. Youngest is 12 now and we always refer to each other as mummy and daddy. And we also to it for dog benefit too 😁 but If neither kids or dog around we just call each other by our names. I can imagine we will always do it though, even when the youngest is a grown ass adult.

Just tell him op

My dad does this when I am around (I am 40!). My mum hates it. She gets her own back, as she calls him Grandad when my DD is around.

I had a friend once whose parents called each other mummy and daddy. It seemed really weird and yuck to me especially as we were all teenagers at the time! They were very middle class though (to my working class) so I put it down to that🤷‍♀️

To your husband?🥴😁 It’s different if you’re referring to yourself like that to a young child. Put your shoes on for mummy or whatever is perfectly acceptable but between adults not so much to me, it’s horribly twee.

Yes!! I actually had one of my sons teachers do this the other day. She said "thank you mum!" I was a bit 😱

My sons teacher calls me mum all the time even in messages 😂 I've sort of got over it being really weird I just thought it was what all teachers did

My neighbour's dad does this. His parents are in their 90s and when they were housesitting for my neighbour I'd pop round to keep an eye on them. Nothing weirder than hearing a 90 something year old man refer to his wife as Mummy!

Overthinking. If a term of endearment messes with your head that much, perhaps you should look at why. If he goes around calling other women by the same name, that would be far more alarming.

Bigslippers · 23/11/2022 23:37

This has made me laugh because I think your dh is saying it out of habit. Just like the youngest child can be called the ‘ baby’ for far longer than needed
No big deal but point it out - he sounds like a good dad as he’s obviously thinking as a parent -

😂 I called my DH Daddy, he hates it. Except now our DS (age 5, on the spectrum) calls him by his first name, which he hates more.

DS - "Hi Miss Smith, this is Dave"
DH - "DS, I'm your dad, hi DSs teacher, I'm his Dad"
DS - "....he's called Dave"

This site needs a like button. Your DS sounds awesome.
