What’s something you’ve done this week/month that no one knows about?

Today I stood outside of KFC and enjoyed a fillet burger after my 1 hour gym session! I didn’t bother bringing it home for DP to see as I already had a Starbucks frappe and a slice of cake this afternoon😂

What’s your secret of the week/month?

@GordonShakespearedoesChristmas thank you. I met him sitting outside McDonalds (I was just going in for a wee). Spoke for a while and I walked away. Conscious fit the better of me and I went back, took him to a charity shop and bought him jeans and a waterproof jacket. Took him to supermarket and bought him food that didn't need to be cooked (cereal bars, pork pies etc). I'm in Kent, just outside London and he is from Nuneaton.
Started raining so I brought him to mine as couldn't leave him in the street. He's a young guy, gay and not streetwise at all. Rang all of the charities I could find but they were no help. Managed to contact two of his friends via FB, who were supportive. Ended up buying him a train and coach ticket home. Thankfully his parents took him back in and he has called me every day since he's been home. I've spoken to his mum twice, he has had a meeting with local homeless charity and should be getting a room next week. He's applied for universal credit and is job hunting. I'm just so glad that I found him.

This is absolutely amazing, you were like a guardian angel for him, and he will always remember your kindness.

@ForgetBarbie thank you. It was a pleasure to have him. I hate to think what might have happened to him, the streets of London are not kind. He FaceTimes me every day and I speak to his mum who is very grateful that I helped him. I'm just happy that I got him well (fed him up, made him shower and shave) and home - he is sorting his life out now. I plan to visit him and his parents soon. Cost me less than £50 to clothe feed and get him home.

That’s really lovely! Thank you for being amazing:)

Started my new job today with the aim of it being a stop gap (escaped horrible boss but took a pay cut), but am really liking it, the staff are lovely and it's flexible. Have applied for another management job but might quietly withdraw.

tryingtostopit · 17/11/2022 01:30

@Saracen
Thank you ☺️ that means a lot!!
It's been a horrid year full of serious illness, bad news, then my mum died a couple of weeks ago and everything has really spiralled out of control.. I managed today as well so fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Another day - terrific! How's it going today?

You are really inspiring me. I don't have a problem with alcohol, but instead with obesity, and there's always an excuse to leave it longer and tackle it another time.

Every day you keep it up is an achievement.

XenoBitch · 17/11/2022 18:50

Another one for this week.
After several failed attempts, I finally managed to get a needed blood test today. I have severe needle phobia. I gave up telling friends about it as one accused me of wasting NHS time by going to appointments and not having it done.
Less pressure if I keep it to myself too.

IHeartGeneHunt · 17/11/2022 19:05

This week is ten years since I was sectioned after an overdose, which I took because I had just got away from a man who I thought was my boyfriend but who forced me into prostitution, and who had beat me in the head with an iron bar when I wouldn't do it any more. Once out of the mental unit I was homeless and ended up an addict and working on the streets.

That was then. Now I'm planning my daughter's birthday party, I'm clean and sober, and I have nobody to celebrate with, because nobody in my life now knows what I used to be.
It feels very strange.

Marmiteontoastyum · 17/11/2022 19:29

@IHeartGeneHunt You are an amazing warrior. Your daughter has an incredible role models Wishing your daughter the most amazing birthday.

So I’m keeping from close friends that I’m pregnant. Baby is four years in the making. An IVF baby. And I’m still scared to say it loud in case it falls apart.

IHeartGeneHunt · 17/11/2022 19:38

@Marmiteontoastyum thank you! And congratulations!

Marmiteontoastyum · 17/11/2022 19:47

Thank you ❤️ @IHeartGeneHunt

I rejoined myfitnesspal this morning.

A few years ago I lost 3 stone, but got pregnant at the end of 2020 and comfort eating, lots of coffee and cake, and a lack of exercise means it's all gone back on again. I lost a baby last week and have decided I'm going to channel my grief into getting fit and losing the weight again... or some of it before I get pregnant again.

bellalou1234 · 17/11/2022 19:52

Ha I've been known to finish a late shift at 21.00 drive to mcdonalds and devour a quater pounder in the car... I bring some home for dp normally... just on occasion I cba.

scryingeyes · 17/11/2022 20:00

paid £50 for someone to clean my oven yesterday. I am skint (two jobs but hey ho) but I have a clean oven.

I am trying to live every day as it's my last cos I'm convinced Putin will press THE button or I will die soon of an incurable disease. So why the hell not.

I love sleeping in the spare bed on my own.

You’re on a roll! You’re seriously inspiring me to continue focusing on my weight loss. You definitely aren’t wasting NHS time as so many people have phobias of needles. It’s great you’re trying to overcome it. Well done on the blood test and I hope you haven’t been struggling too much on your other accomplishment🤞❤️

Wow, what a horrible story but I’m so proud of you for coming this far. Sorry you were in that situation. I hope you enjoy your daughters birthday party! X

@XenoBitch well done!!! You can do it! 😊

ImaniMumsnet · 17/11/2022 20:09

Hello @Forestflies1972 , we are really sorry to hear you are feeling this way.

We hope you don't mind, but when these threads are flagged up to us we usually add a link to our Mental Health resources.
You can also go to the Samaritans website, or email them on [email protected]. Support from other Mumsnetters is great and we really hope you will be able to take some comfort from your fellow posters, but as other MNers will tell you, it's really a good idea to seek RL help and support as well.

We also like to remind everyone that, although we're awed daily by the astonishing support our members give each other through life's trickier twists and turns, we'd always caution anyone never to give more of themselves to another poster, emotionally or financially, than they can afford to spare.

Am sorting a surprise party for DH's birthday.

Everyone (except him) knows bits but no-one except me knows all the plans...

poormanspombears · 17/11/2022 20:11

Spoke to the nurse about contraception to try and get a handle on my hormonal rage.
I cried because it means I've closed the door on more kids (but me and DH haven't had sex for 18 months anyway so thats irrelevant!)

WeeOrcadian · 17/11/2022 20:17

Called to McDonald's for a 'hot chocolate'
Said hot beverage turned into a large hot chocolate, plus a triple cheeseburger with extra pickles, extra onions and bacon. No fucks given.

Yddraigoldragon · 17/11/2022 20:18

Paid off the mortgage!! Wasn’t long to go on it, and the money was from my mother’s estate, so bittersweet, but it is done. And she would have approved.

Coolyule · 17/11/2022 20:24

Mine is very trivial 😂
I bought a jar of Cadbury chocolate spread for the family to enjoy (2 kids, dh and I all love it). I have also bought a secret second jar that is all mine and is hidden in the baking cupboard that no one ever goes in except me. I am having the biggest secret spoonfuls of it and it is amaaaaazing. I also have half a kinder Santa left in there too. Not sure what I’d do without this cupboard!

Abstained from alcohol for a week. No one knows I had a problem.

Well done 😁 . Hope you make week 2.

Ihateboris · 17/11/2022 20:29

Two things :
Got a cleaner in for a whole day whilst other half working away, and told him I'd done it, cos I was feeling lazy.
Burnt the bedroom carpet with hair straighteners and put a rug over it to hide it.
