What’s something you’ve done this week/month that no one knows about?

Today I stood outside of KFC and enjoyed a fillet burger after my 1 hour gym session! I didn’t bother bringing it home for DP to see as I already had a Starbucks frappe and a slice of cake this afternoon😂

What’s your secret of the week/month?

Well done @XenoBitch keep up the good work, it'll be worth it.
I've finished Christmas shopping this week. I haven't told anyone because everyone seems stressed at the moment. I do start early. Have presents for extended family to buy but I know what they're getting and doesn't cost much.

xogossipgirlxo · 16/11/2022 14:08

I'm already listening to Christmas songs. Only DH knows.

No one, except my husband, knows that I dropped my postgraduate studies. My parents think I'm still studying, oops. Will have to come up with new lie when they ask to show them certificate. This is the secret that will die with me and DH. I know you don't know my parents, so I could say it on MN 😂

youcantry · 16/11/2022 17:09

@GordonShakespearedoesChristmas thank you. I met him sitting outside McDonalds (I was just going in for a wee). Spoke for a while and I walked away. Conscious fit the better of me and I went back, took him to a charity shop and bought him jeans and a waterproof jacket. Took him to supermarket and bought him food that didn't need to be cooked (cereal bars, pork pies etc). I'm in Kent, just outside London and he is from Nuneaton.
Started raining so I brought him to mine as couldn't leave him in the street. He's a young guy, gay and not streetwise at all. Rang all of the charities I could find but they were no help. Managed to contact two of his friends via FB, who were supportive. Ended up buying him a train and coach ticket home. Thankfully his parents took him back in and he has called me every day since he's been home. I've spoken to his mum twice, he has had a meeting with local homeless charity and should be getting a room next week. He's applied for universal credit and is job hunting. I'm just so glad that I found him.

youcantry · 16/11/2022 17:14

Ps, I haven't told anyone as I know bringing a young man into my home would bring condemnation and questioning my sanity understandably!
He was wonderful though - cooked and cleaned and is very grateful, as is his mum. I'm so glad he is home. London is not a place to be for a homeless, gay, non streetwise young man.

Stayed behind at a work social for one more glass of champagne after everyone had left. 🥹 The tab is charged to the senior partner’s account and I know she wouldn’t have minded (she would have probably encouraged it!) but it’s not something I would shout about.

This is really an amazing thing you’ve done. You’ve literally changed his life due to the kindness of your heart. It’s so lovely that you’re speaking with him and he can keep you updated. Wishing all the best💐

Booked in for Botox this week. I've had it before and not kept it a secret but can't be arsed with the comments from H, DC's and other family members.

Good for you. I've booked in for fillers. Not to look young but to fix my massively unproportioned face. Told no one until told dh last night incase it goes wrong lol

PieonaBarm · 16/11/2022 18:14

Cried over my dog who went over rainbow bridge 13 weeks ago now. My DH knows I'm finding it hard but he doesn't know exactly how hard. That little brown dog got me through some hard times and I miss him.

I made three new friends. We met at an activity last week and had fun, swapped numbers. We have just planned our Christmas night out and bought flights for a holiday together next year.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 16/11/2022 18:33

Had a mcplant in my car on my lunch break on Monday. I had to do something and didn't have time to go to the supermarket so went to the drive thru

youcantry · 16/11/2022 21:43

@ForgetBarbie thank you. It was a pleasure to have him. I hate to think what might have happened to him, the streets of London are not kind. He FaceTimes me every day and I speak to his mum who is very grateful that I helped him. I'm just happy that I got him well (fed him up, made him shower and shave) and home - he is sorting his life out now. I plan to visit him and his parents soon. Cost me less than £50 to clothe feed and get him home.

33goingon64 · 16/11/2022 21:47

Stayed in bed until after DS1 left to go to school. Normally I'd be up to make sure he's eaten a proper breakfast, got his bus pass etc. But have felt so tired in the mornings I've lingered snoozing until DS2 jumps on me pleading for his porridge at 7.45.

It’s great that you met some new people you liked, but isn’t it a bit optimistic that, after knowing them for a week at most, you are all assuming you’ll (1) still be in touch and (2) still actually want to go on holiday together next year?

SnitterBug · 16/11/2022 21:58

Locked myself in the loo at work and did some mums netting for 15 mins

girlfriend44 · 16/11/2022 22:06

We are feeling quite pleased that the hotel we stayed in last week forgot to give us the bill at the end of our stay for our drinks.
Sheer bloody incompetence but who cares.

Flawed90 · 16/11/2022 22:08

Stopped smoking - this is day 12. I hadn't mentioned to anyone until today. My partner who doesn't live with me but spent the weekend with me didn't appear to notice and I still haven't told him. Not sure how I feel about that!

XenoBitch · 15/11/2022 23:14

Abstained from alcohol for a week. No one knows I had a problem.

Fantastic. Well done.

EternalStench · 16/11/2022 22:12

Listened to a trashy romantic free audiobook on my commute this weekBlush

AllOfThemWitches · 16/11/2022 22:12

OrangePomander · 16/11/2022 22:17

Booked a flu jab. I’m not at all good with needles and usually avoid having it.

Anotherdayanothernight · 16/11/2022 22:25

Told work I had a GP appointment but actually went for a job interview as I desperately need to change due to stress, fingers crossed!

youcantry · 16/11/2022 22:29

@XenoBitch well done you 👏💪. It's not easy, been there myself. Take one day at a time and pat yourself on the back. You got this x

Sodullincomparison · 16/11/2022 22:39

I got a massive promotion and I’m waiting for my boss to announce it. My DH and DD know as it involves working away two days per week. Now I need my boss to let everyone know before my chatty four year old let’s everyone know.

GrandTheftWalrus · 17/11/2022 00:03

Dreading my dd2 toddler group as no one talks to me. It's all grans etc and I go as a mum. But when dd1 went 3 years ago it was a lovely friendly place.

tryingtostopit · 17/11/2022 01:30

@Saracen
Thank you ☺️ that means a lot!!
It's been a horrid year full of serious illness, bad news, then my mum died a couple of weeks ago and everything has really spiralled out of control.. I managed today as well so fingers crossed for tomorrow!
