Anyone in the queue and want to keep me company? I’m at 25,452 but it’s moving quick!

i don’t get why people do this isn’t everything just out of stock around Christmas and you’ll just get substitutes or unavailable items ?

No more than everything will be out of stock in the supermarket itself… given that’s where the orders are picked from Confused

Rainydaize · 15/11/2022 18:34

I've seen so many posts about tesco delivery slots today. Am I missing something?! I got an asda and sainsburys shop no hassle at all a few weeks ago

I used Tesco a few years ago and my delivery on the 23rd had no turkey or substitute and about 60% of my order was unavailable including toilet roll of all things, no suitable substitute available???Ended up having to go to the shops anyway. Never again

Same here. Completely pointless.
Just go late night or early morning or just join the slog.
Yes I understand if you're a single mum blah blah blah.

@Rainydaize These are the Christmas week slots. Guaranteed carnage. 😅

Coolyule · 15/11/2022 18:45

I went on at 11 and no queue. Got a slot for 22nd. I like having my shop slot sorted so I would have happily queued too

geraniumthefirst · 15/11/2022 18:49

After having spent 2.5 hours in the queue this morning, getting booted out twice etc, and finally getting a slot for the 22nd, I just checked the available slots out of curiosity, and have changed my slot to the 23rd as they still had some available...

What a waste of 2.5 hours of my life 🤣🤦‍♀️

@Halstead Yes, but why leave it so late? Delivery or in store. Most food will keep for a few days in the fridge or freezer until Christmas Day.
If you rely on a delivery, there is less time to find alternatives elsewhere, and end up having to go out anyway.

SpentDandelion · 15/11/2022 19:16

I work for Tesco, Christmas Eve is best time to shop, quiet and calm especially later on in day, l do my shop then and can always get what l want, store is reopen 24 hrs later on Boxing Day. People panic and cause chaos by trying to get in first, hence online system crashes or causes huge queues. It happens every single year.

I don't leave it late - my Xmas shop is booked for 2-3 days before Christmas (having had my 'usual' one up to a week before)

Early enough to get the nice food in to munch on the lead up - as well as pop out for anything missing from the order (rare)... but late enough that all the nice food hasn't been guzzled by Christmas Eve

Win:win.

Surely it would be easier just to go to Tesco? Also what if you end up with substitutions and are stuck with extra sprouts instead of pigs in blankets for your Christmas Dinner!

Excatly. I wouldn't risk online shopping for Christmas.

NellesVilla · 15/11/2022 22:14

You’re nuts, the lot of you! 😯
What if you totally rely on them for everything and they let you down at the last second and it’s then too late to get all your Xmas crap in?
Hope some of you have back-up food just in case!

RuthW · 15/11/2022 22:15

Kicked me out a few times. I joined at 5.15am and got in at 9.10am.

I got the 21st which I'm happy with.

Passionatelycurious · 16/11/2022 00:27

Wow I did get lucky then. I logged on at 540am on my phone and was 870 in the queue. I went and logged in the computer for a back up and in the time that took I was over 50000 in the queue. I got in almost straight away in the app so logged off computer and went back to bed for 20 minutes...although maybe I should have kept this a secret as you'll all be using my technique next year.

I've used other supermarkets and Tesco has always been the best for turning up and having the least substitutions by far.

If there's anything they don't bring I can pop and get last bits on Christmas Eve. I use online as my husband will work right up till Christmas so I'd end up having to take the children with me and no one needs that.

Blanketpolicy · 16/11/2022 00:32

Forgot about it until around 8:30am and I was 220,000 something in queue.

Got Friday 23rd 7pm and Wednesday 21st slots which suits me ok.
