Anyone in the queue and want to keep me company? I’m at 25,452 but it’s moving quick!

I've just tried to log on to do the regular Sunday shop and wondered wtf was going on. 256444 people ahead of me with a 29 minute wait - bugger that!

Icecreamandapplepie · 15/11/2022 08:50

So glad someone posted this, I'd forgotten!

Craigava · 15/11/2022 08:51

I think the queue must be segmented in some way - location? - as I got in to the queue just before 6am and was in and checked out by just after 7.30.

TheTeddyBears · 15/11/2022 08:51

Queuing n to get a slot gps they need a better system!

When Morrisons released there I just logged in and got one no problems.

I chose 23rd as u don't want to have to go out last minute on Xmas eve if they haven't brought some items!

HammerheadCorvette · 15/11/2022 08:56

Jeez that was torture. Twatted around on the app and on the mobile site from before 6am, finally got on the app at about 7.45 but it wouldn't let me choose a delivery slot. Waited to get in on the mobile site and then it let me check out without using any of my bank's authentication methods. The slots are in my list though - I have a slot booked every week up to Christmas now.

MaggieMagpie357 · 15/11/2022 08:57

I swear Tesco get worse every year with their Xmas delivery slots. Logged on at 5.50am and got to the front of the queue at 7.10, then spent the next twenty mins trying to book a slot - they were clearly overwhelmed with the amount of people on the app and it kept saying "something went wrong," so bloody frustrating!

I did get a 23rd slot in the end but it was a very painful process. Why can't they seem to sort it out??

Also, they did suggest putting one item in your basket then checking out on the email they sent about Xmas delivery slots OP. I'm not sure how many people took notice of this though!

Orangedaisy · 15/11/2022 08:58

I logged on at 0546, was about 45000th in the queue. Got in at 0655, took 15 minutes of trying and retrying to get a slot for me and DM (different areas) and then one for the week before xmas too. The checkout and paying part was painful but got there.

The pain and the story and feeling groggy all day from early morning ‘stress’ is now part of our Xmas traditions 🤣. The kids expect it!!

ExtraOnions · 15/11/2022 09:25

Oddly enough I logged in and got Christmas Eve … I never get Christmas Eve, it’s never on there - I’m suspecting a glitch.

I can always cancel if I have been very organised and don’t need anything

ScoobyDoNot · 15/11/2022 09:27

I booked my Ocado slot back in October 😁

Piemam · 15/11/2022 09:29

I was in the 6 digits, then 5, then it chucked me out! They know I've got no money!

BadTeethBoy · 15/11/2022 10:18

@OoooohMatron im a single parent with a disabled child. I do all my shopping online because he can’t handle normal shopping never mind Christmas shopping :) I’d rather wake up at 5.45 and queue for half an hour in bed than risk taking him in that close to Christmas :) if they substitute something then I’ll have to deal (as long as it’s not the pigs in blankets, I buy and freeze them early!)

30 mins queuing to get onto the website while tucked in bed with a coffee and watching an episode of Suits vs trudging out in all weathers to spend 90 mins steering a trolley round a busy supermarket (or going at an unsociable time)?

I know which I prefer.

Yes, I occasionally get subs but tend to time my online shop so they're minimised and they're generally sensible when they do occur.

Plus you know - much easier to nip in with a basket to pick a couple of bits up if they're essential (and I can't get them from the little a Tesco Metro down the road) than haul a trolley round.

Horses for courses and all that.

True! I kind of like the chaos but it's not for everyone.

feelthebeatfromthetangerine · 15/11/2022 10:28

OoooohMatron · 15/11/2022 08:09

Surely it would be easier just to go to Tesco? Also what if you end up with substitutions and are stuck with extra sprouts instead of pigs in blankets for your Christmas Dinner!

But then you can't order the special Christmas food...

Goatling · 15/11/2022 10:29

I logged on at 5.55 and was 80, 178 in the queue, got in at 7.20, plenty of slots left for the 23rd which is what I wanted. Ordered 6 bottles of prosecco and checked out with no problems. Well happy.

Definitely easier in your situation, hopefully the online chaos will die down and you get your pigs in blankets 😀

ancientgran · 15/11/2022 10:31

Is Tesco really hard to get a slot? I did mine on Sainsbury's when I was ordering my normal weekly shop and there was no queue. I must go and check, maybe I did it wrong!!!

Jmaho · 15/11/2022 10:35

I used Tesco a few years ago and my delivery on the 23rd had no turkey or substitute and about 60% of my order was unavailable including toilet roll of all things, no suitable substitute available???Ended up having to go to the shops anyway. Never again

OldEvilOwl · 15/11/2022 11:07

WTF? i just booked an ASDA one straight away and they have been available for about 2 weeks

BadTeethBoy · 15/11/2022 11:31

@OoooohMatron thanks 😁

You have to be in the Super Special Deliveries club and paying a monthly fee to get first dibs 😄

Dadof5gremlins · 15/11/2022 16:30

I'm still 0 . Will go in store and get what I need way in advance.

JasperHale · 15/11/2022 16:46

My app is only showing slots until 5th of December 😳

You need to pay for Delivery Saver to get access to the Christmas slots.

Hereweare12111 · 15/11/2022 18:13

i don’t get why people do this isn’t everything just out of stock around Christmas and you’ll just get substitutes or unavailable items ?
