Anyone in the queue and want to keep me company? I’m at 25,452 but it’s moving quick!

First Peter Kay! Now Tesco's!! 😂🤣

hisnameisfreckles · 15/11/2022 08:08

Got mine exactly when I wanted only took an hour and 50 mins 😏

OoooohMatron · 15/11/2022 08:09

Surely it would be easier just to go to Tesco? Also what if you end up with substitutions and are stuck with extra sprouts instead of pigs in blankets for your Christmas Dinner!

worriedstmw · 15/11/2022 08:12

The apps just not working at all. Started at 05:45, it threw me out the queue after 15 mins and only just got into the app. Now it doesn't work!! Won't let me do anything

Zebedee55 · 15/11/2022 08:15

I got in at 6.20 thankfully...but the way they release those slots is crazy. Every year it's chaos. 🙄

This has just popped up on the Tesco site:

"We're currently experiencing some technical issues with our app. We're aware of the issue and working hard to fix it. In the mean time, we'd recommend using the website to place your order."

worriedstmw · 15/11/2022 08:20

Gone onto the website instead but the queue is 40+ mins. There's not going to be any slots left so there's really no point.

What's the point!? Every year the same thing happens

This is how I feel. Ours is open til midnight. One if us (or both in the days of no kids) just goes at 9pm on the 22nd/23rd and it's dead!

DashboardConfessional · 15/11/2022 08:21

Obvs much more difficult for, say, single parents with no help.

30 mins queuing to get onto the website while tucked in bed with a coffee and watching an episode of Suits vs trudging out in all weathers to spend 90 mins steering a trolley round a busy supermarket (or going at an unsociable time)?

I know which I prefer.

Yes, I occasionally get subs but tend to time my online shop so they're minimised and they're generally sensible when they do occur.

Plus you know - much easier to nip in with a basket to pick a couple of bits up if they're essential (and I can't get them from the little a Tesco Metro down the road) than haul a trolley round.

Horses for courses and all that.

mondaytosunday · 15/11/2022 08:28

Why are they releasing so late? I booked Waitrose about a month ago - delivery slots were sold out but got a click and collect for the 23rd.
But hanging in the phone so much better than going! Before delivery was a thing my husband and I were in the checkout queue for 45 minutes and then it took over an hour to get out of the parking lot!

FayeGovan · 15/11/2022 08:31

I quite like the xmas shopping in the actual shops, especially marks. We are only a small family but i oohh and aahh at the big platters or massive cakes...

ExtraOnions · 15/11/2022 08:31

I forgot .. I’m normally there when they open.

TBH, I think it might encourage me to shop around a bit more - no bad thing

Zebedee55 · 15/11/2022 08:33

News flashes say the site has crashed, but I tried it via Google, and went straight in - no queue all.

Hod knows what's going on.🙄

DappledThings · 15/11/2022 08:35

We mostly get deliveries but the big Christmas shop is the one we'd always do in person. Wouldn't know at this point when will actually be convenient for a delivery. All kinds of plans could come up.

Did it early labour one year on the 22nd. That was fun.

DashboardConfessional · 15/11/2022 08:37

I get stressed out over whether they're going to turn up to be honest. I once saw the Asda van reach the end of our road, sit with its hazards on for a couple of minutes then drive off, followed by a message saying they'd "run out of time".

MajorCarolDanvers · 15/11/2022 08:43

Obviously those of us in the queue prefer online shopping.

Oxo01 · 15/11/2022 08:45

Joined the queue at 5.45am
Just under 5000 waiting
Took less than 1hr to get in.
Delivery for 23rd early am could have had xmas eve slot laods avaible but will go out same day or xmas eve for bits and pieces .

inappropriateraspberry · 15/11/2022 08:46

This is why it's easier to go to the shop!

How is it going adore than logging on to a website and drinking coffee whilst browsing mn

MajorCarolDanvers · 15/11/2022 08:48

Easier. Not adore. Autocorrect

inappropriateraspberry · 15/11/2022 08:49

I just start picking things up throughout the weeks, with my normal shop. Frozen turkey will be bought soon, cheese, crackers, nibbles, jars etc all keep for ages so can be bought ahead.

Batmansmummy · 15/11/2022 08:49

Been on since 5.45 just got through now and all slots after the 20th are gone 🤦🏻‍♀️

inappropriateraspberry · 15/11/2022 08:50

No worries about bad substitutions, and if somethings out of stock I can go elsewhere easily.
