AIBU or will the popularity of the RF drop like a lead balloon if they keep on doing this?

OP posts:
Comedycook · 13/11/2022 16:18

Let’s be real Meghan and Harry and the Queen dying have been far worse for the Royal family than seedy Andrew

What nonsense.

Redglitter · 13/11/2022 16:18

Taken back into the fold?? In what way? He wasn't at the Remembrance ceremony so what are you referring to??

spanieleyes · 13/11/2022 16:20

The OP was referring to a family gathering in a family home.
I have no sympathy at all for him, but even I would stretch to calling that " back in the fold"

LakieLady · 13/11/2022 16:11

If my brother had done what he's allegedly done, I would be NC with him.

Good for you. Fact is though that different families act differently, and nobody should be under any obligation to cut out a family member purely because people think they should.

And as you say, the word here is allegedly.

I don’t like him, but he’s not my brother, so if his siblings want to maintain a relationship with him in private then that is their business.

Doing what?

Most families seem to keep contact with 'black sheep' (there are better descriptions) members.

Why do you think they would cut him off from private family gatherings?

Nanny0gg · 13/11/2022 16:35

SkeetyLola · 13/11/2022 16:13

@LakieLady

Don’t misunderstand me, I’m not saying he isn’t morally worse than them or the Queen dying wasn’t inevitable. I’m just saying nobody every gave a crap about Andrew anyway, he’s never been public ally beloved or followed in a love hate way like Meghan/Harry or even Charles/Diana/Camilla.

So most people won’t even notice if he’s back as he doesn’t get much publicity and never has.

Were you not around in the 80s? It was all about him!

Bakeacaketoday · 13/11/2022 16:36

I wonder how many people on here know people - friends and family who have continued to keep actual convicted paedophiles "in the family" - judging from threads on here there are thousands and thousands.

Remember Andrew has been convicted of nothing....He's been a bloody idiot, and seedy with it but (even in the evidence of VG) he has done nothing criminal.

Lets look at the current contestants of IACGMOOH - Boy George, Sean Walsh, Matt Hancock....one convicted of assault and false imprisonment, two with seedy "gross errors of judgement" - all still in the public eye.

Bakeacaketoday · 13/11/2022 16:38

(missed off the last setance which is)

Why is Andrew any different?

JustLyra · 13/11/2022 16:40

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 13/11/2022 15:56

As far as I could see he wasn't at the ceremony this morning but the cameras might have kept away from him if he was.Come to think of it I didn't see the Countess of Wessex so he might have been standing with her and that's why.

She was stood with the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester

Melonapplepear · 13/11/2022 16:47

I don't think it will. People like the taste of boot polish too much

TheKeatingFive · 13/11/2022 16:47

True. That paying out 12 million could have happened to anyone.

PoseyFlump · 13/11/2022 16:49

Why do posters start threads but provide no news links etc. If you've read something, give us a link!

Paying hush money is not at all admission of guilt. It would have been far more damaging for the Queen and the RF if it went to trial.

And after this week’s latest story about Virginia Giuffre, I can’t help but have my doubts.

SarahSissions · 13/11/2022 16:53

are you just making stuff up to try and generate outrage?

  1. We don't know how much it was.

  2. Do you really think that Clinton and Trump (amongst many many others recorded on the plane of JE and in his black book) haven't also paid VG to shut her up? Andrew just let it go on way too long and let it become too public, most of them would have reached for the cheque book immediately..

TrashyPanda · 13/11/2022 16:53

Rippled · 13/11/2022 16:14

The only 2 Royals to have been anywhere near any military action (Andrew and Harry) weren't there. So much for the Royals and Veterans Day!

Veterans Day is nothing to do with the U.K. or the Royal Family.
its Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday in Britain.

1001Daffodils · 13/11/2022 16:56

The RF never ejected him from "the fold" even if they did publically strip him of responsibility and titles.

He wasn't one of the royals at the remembrance service so YABU.

He's a vile creep who hasn't been proven to be a criminal, there are families who keep in touch with far worse.

Which is why i said he waa involved with sex traffickers ,he went to visit Jeffrey Epstein to " break off " their friend ship ,he oprnly admits to being friends wirh Ghislaine Maxwell ,and thete was the rather large pay out earlier this year ....

TheKeatingFive · 13/11/2022 16:58

We don't know how much it was.

We have a damned good idea

Do you really think that Clinton and Trump (amongst many many others recorded on the plane of JE and in his black book) haven't also paid VG to shut her up? Andrew just let it go on way too long and let it become too public, most of them would have reached for the cheque book immediately

This isn't a thread about Clinton/Trump, it's a thread about Andrew. What they did/didn't do doesn't make his actions any more palatable.

TheKeatingFive · 13/11/2022 17:00

Paying hush money is not at all admission of guilt

Yes because so many innocent victims send up paying out those kinds of sums

It would have been far more damaging for the Queen and the RF if it went to trial.

What does that tell you 🤪

TheKeatingFive · 13/11/2022 17:00

End up, sorry

Notwithstanding that his actual crime appears to be the trafficking of the girl he slept with, what do you think a paedophile is?

Ive just had to correct someone on another thread, who said that they thought the word referred to an attraction to children up to 16 years of age?

Do people really not know what a paedophile is?

ancientgran · 13/11/2022 17:01

His accuser has also been accusing Alan Dershowitz for 8 years and now she's admitted she might have been wrong. She says she was in a "stressful and traumatic environment." How horrific for him to go through that for 8 years.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 13/11/2022 17:03

And after this week’s latest story about Virginia Giuffre, I can’t help but have my doubts.

Is that the 'oops, my bad, Epstein didn't make me sleep with Deshowitz after all'?
