AIBU or will the popularity of the RF drop like a lead balloon if they keep on doing this?

@Sigma33 I'm really sorry about what happened to you when you were a teenager.

Thank you.

It has taken me many years to understand it wasn't my fault. Part of that - a lot of that - has been coming to terms with understanding that I 'invited' my own abuse after the initial abuse as a way of coping with it, a way of trying to put it in my control.

From what I have learnt that is quite common, and why a lot of victims of abuse get their sexual history used against them if they try to take action - they get painted as 'promiscuous'.

Which is why I have tried in this thread to explain why the reactions of a victim of abuse might appear to be the same as the actions of an empowered young woman exploring her sexuality.

That seems to make me the villain in the piece on Mumsnet.

Whatever. I am past the need to please others - especially random people on the internet. I have - decades on - mostly put my experience into perspective, and accepted that it has destroyed my ability to have a meaningful intimate relationship.

Katievic82 · 14/11/2022 01:01

The fact that she accepted a pay out and signed a contract to say she will never speak on the subject again, after telling everyone it wasn't about the money, but justice says all I need to know about that lady. She is a liar.

I read that the reason why the settlement was so much lower than had been predicted (at £3m) was because she did not sign a confidentiality agreement so she's free to write a book if she so wishes.

I'm also sorry that you had such a horrendous experience when you were so young. I experienced inappropriate behaviour by several men in my part-time job when I was 16-18+ and I wish now I had had the confidence to knee them in the balls and tell them to fuck off. Nothing on the scale that you endured though.

Ignore all the nasty, bitter posters. My heart goes out to you and I hope that you have managed to find happiness x

TheKeatingFive · 14/11/2022 02:31

Because the press don't wat to correct it.

If it was factually correct they'd have to .

Everyone of those stories I linked to would have to have a correction. You see it all the time.

But anyway it eventually got reported Iin the summer..by his lawyers.

only seen by you 🤣

Because once you start to engage with the papers, it just gives oxygen to the fire. It was a personal matter and no one else's business. They don't need to reveal anything to satisfy the interest of busybodies.

Oh yeah definitely no public interest tat the son of the Monarch paid 12 million who’d to make an accusation of sex with a trafficked woman go away

do you realise how ludicrous that sounds?

og course Andrew’s long term friendship with convicted child sex abusers is not a ‘private matter’ if it was he wouldn’t have been stripped of his working Royal status.

honestly the knots that people willl ties themselves in to justify the deeply unpleasant actions of a rich shite bloke are astonishing!

FurAndFeathers · 14/11/2022 06:34

Is that worse than being the close friend and supporter of a child sex abuser?
and a proven liar on national TV?

I don’t doubt she’s a liar in some situations, she was groomed and trafficked from a young age - that kind of trauma tends to mess people up.

what’s Andrew’s excuse for his conduct?

FurAndFeathers · 14/11/2022 06:37

I love that folk still think the amount of money paid and whether VG told the truth it not is the relevant point

whereas Andrew’s well documented and established friendship with a child sex abuser and his regular attendance at parties with teen girls procured by that child abuse criminal is just stuff to be overlooked.

odd priorities for decency that some of you have.

diddl · 14/11/2022 07:23

I thought it was perfectly clear what you are trying to say.

I went through a stage of drinking too much & having one night stands.

Obviously not comparable to your situation, but at times I would have been considered too drunk to consent.

Valeriekat · 14/11/2022 08:17

LakieLady · 13/11/2022 16:09

Wtf? The queen dying was inevitable. Meghan & Harry were a bit of an embarrassment for the RF and probably will continue to be so now and again.

Surely a lying, arrogant sibling/uncle, who hobnobs with a paedo sex trafficker and allegedly had sex with one of their victims, then took £millions off Mummy in order to prevent it all coming out in court is far worse, and more shameful for them?

I'd rather have M&H as family members than the sweaty nonce any day.

I thought that he couldn't sweat!

TheKeatingFive · 14/11/2022 08:20

3 million. And I didn't say there wasn't public interest. I said that the court case settlement was private and as such they don't have to address anything publicly.

trevster · 15/11/2022 10:41

This is supposed to be Mumsnet, not LBC. Why would I care about whether Andrew is back in the fold or not. What that family do is far different to anyone else's and they're no example either as their whole lifestyle is restrictive and unrealistic to everyone else's. Take their wealth and titles, pomp etc and you'll find them depressed and suicidal. Can you imagine them bringing posts to this website?

Poopoolittlerabbit · 15/11/2022 11:20

‘If his family decide to forgive, love him despite his faults etc’

if I discovered my brother was raping
trafficked young girls, I ‘m not sure I could forgive him.

it’s a little more than having a ‘fault’
isn’t it? But then I wouldn’t have circled the wagons and protected my criminal, rapist,
paedo brother either.

and doesn’t someone have to feel sorry to be given forgiveness?

Poopoolittlerabbit · 15/11/2022 11:53

I wonder how his brothers, nieces and nephews feel about him being around their little girls? How old is Prince Edward’s daughter now?
I be leaving rapey Uncle Andrew alone with any of my kids if I were them.

BMW6 · 15/11/2022 11:56

When has he been accused of rape or paedophilia? ?

He hasn't so don't make shit up.

Poopoolittlerabbit · 15/11/2022 12:01

The case he settled for millions - was for raping and sexually abusing a trafficked 17 year old.
but you crack on and defend a rapist if that floats your boat.

ajandjjmum · 15/11/2022 12:05

It's not a case of floating anyone's boat, it's a case of giving facts not opinions.

Not an Andrew supporter, but some of the rubbish spouted and repeated on here makes me question people's intelligence.

Mamamia7962 · 15/11/2022 12:07

poopoolittlerabbit - I thought all this nonsense you are spouting was cleared up on the other thread. He was not accused of raping anyone. The offence was whether or not he knew VG was paid and trafficked which was not proved. Those are facts whether you like them or not.

Blossomtoes · 15/11/2022 12:09

It was. But she’ll go on spouting it to the end of time regardless of being constantly corrected.

Poopoolittlerabbit · 15/11/2022 12:22

‘The case he settled for millions - was for raping and sexually abusing a trafficked 17 year old.’

this is what he was accused of. If you think he’s in innocent then I think you’ll find you’re in the minority.
can you imagine if he did a school or factory visit now? Who would have him? Who would want to be near him
let alone shake his - none sweaty obvs - hand.

He hasn’t been found guilty of anything . Just because he is an arrogant prat doesn’t make him a criminal .

TheKeatingFive · 15/11/2022 12:37

While it may be technically true that he 'hasn't been found guilty of anything', having to dish out 12 million quid is a pretty substantial indicator that his behaviour has not been above board.

Mamamia7962 · 15/11/2022 12:37

This is where it's not a straightforward case. Her job that night was to entertain him as she was employed by Epstein, albeit as a sex worker. She could only accuse him of rape if he knew she was trafficked and paid, of which there was no proof.

TheKeatingFive · 15/11/2022 12:38

I mean, I know lots of arrogant prats, but it's not common to have to shell out many millions because of that.
