AIBU or will the popularity of the RF drop like a lead balloon if they keep on doing this?

£3m actually.

Source?

His lawyers.

TheKeatingFive · 13/11/2022 22:23

His lawyers.

You typing two words isn't a source 🤣

MarshaMelrose · 13/11/2022 22:27

I opened your first link and this was in the subheading...
Settlement not disclosed but thought to be worth up to $15m
And then everything gets based on that. Just a load of gossip and speculation because they don't know. But in a way they were right. £3m is on the way up to £12m.

Canthave2manycats · 13/11/2022 22:27

So good to have an 'expert' to keep us all right.

TheKeatingFive · 13/11/2022 22:27

To pre-empt what I'm sure is coming, yes the exact amount wasn't revealed, but a wide range of sources (far more than I've linked here) referenced 12 million, with legal experts commenting on that figure.

Still waiting for your 3 million source btw. I've produced multiple references for my figures.

Yes, "referenced" - which is not 'evidence'. Sheesh!

No. If that figure was way off base the royals had a moral duty to Andrew to clarify and to the wider public to do so, as there was inevitable speculation about the what funding stream would pay for it.

But ... nothing

I've told you who said it. Search it out if you're interested. I think it was revealed August/September time.

Kanaloa · 13/11/2022 22:32

Does it matter if it was three million or twelve million? Paying any large amount of hush money to trafficked teenaged girls is unacceptable.

TheKeatingFive · 13/11/2022 22:33

The Telegraph reported this btw

The Duke of York will pay his accuser more than £12million using money from the Queen, the Telegraph can reveal

So if not accurate, why no request for a correction? It's an important piece of info,

Why? They don't have to reveal their private financial dealings to you. 😂😂😂 It's none of your business.

Wonderful. So strong 😂

"Never explain" is their motion. It just feeds the fire.

Baffling that they wouldn't correct that, if the actual amount was a third of that, hmm? Why on earth would they let that stand, given the speculation on how it was going up be paid and how it reflected on Andrew's conduct?

Seriously, why would they do that?

Well, don't then. It doesn't matter to me. 🤷

TheKeatingFive · 13/11/2022 22:37

So its reported around the world at 12 million and they let that stand? Don't be a fool.

They do correct things when it suits them, naturally

AutumnCrow · 13/11/2022 22:39

@Sigma33 I'm really sorry about what happened to you when you were a teenager.

Because once you start to engage with the papers, it just gives oxygen to the fire. It was a personal matter and no one else's business. They don't need to reveal anything to satisfy the interest of busybodies.

Maybe it suited them to have their lawyers correct it to £3m then.

It had nothing to do with satisfying busybodies.

12 million was widely reported.

It was well known he didn't have 12 million.

So there was massive speculation about how he was going to pay it and if the Queen would get involved (which she had to). And of course then there's speculation about which of her income streams would be used and whether any public money would be involved?

Why on earth would they let that conversation run if they had the facts behind them to clarify it was a smaller amount? It would have absolutely been in their interests to do so.

TheKeatingFive · 13/11/2022 22:47

Didn't make it as far as corrections in the press. Funny 🤔

AutumnCrow · 13/11/2022 23:19

Unfortunately for Andrew, he appears to be toast

MarshaMelrose · 13/11/2022 23:19

Because the press don't wat to correct it. They much prefer saying 7m which rose to 10m and then 12m. That's a much better story than 3m.
But anyway it eventually got reported Iin the summer..by his lawyers.
