Worrying about having 4 wisdom teeth out at once?

Needs to be with a GA as my teeth are really impacted and sideways

I have three children aged 6 months to 6 years old. Worrying about how sore it is afterwards and the practicality of it being done twice. I don't really want two GAs if I could have the one.. but is my head going to feel like I've been stamped on?

Aibu to be getting worked up about this?

i had all 4 under GA. had a McD on the way home...no brusing or swelling, and carried on as normal. (just no very hot/cold drinks for several hours)

I will be thrilled if this happens to me
Think I'll have my last supper soon as poss after the procedure because I'm thinking of it being similar to my tonsils which hurt less on the day of the surgery and the day after then it did on day 4

Have the four out. I only had 3 and it’s totally messed up my teeth. X

This is really helpful
I have been so reassured by this thread thank you everyone so much

I've also been looking into composite bonding as a gift to myself to say well done for enduring it

I hope you're okay.

I ended up in severe pain with nerve damage to my sinuses. I couldn't sleep or eat properly.

The sinuses still cause issues.

The wounds healed after 3 weeks, sinuses haven't healed yet.

Mine were like yours - sideways - I felt bashed about and very sore that night and groggy - my partner walked in and found me pouring my soup onto the kitchen bench instead of into my bowl. Despite all that, it was no where near as bad as actual toothache - ie very sore but not a nerve pain. You'll be fine.

I had all four out under GA about 20 years ago, as they were very impacted (I have - or rather had, I've had multiple extractions - a ridiculous number of adult teeth!).

Yes, I was a bit sore and bruised for a while, but I'd say the worst was over in a week and the discomfort was manageable with OTC paracetamol and ibuprofen. Everything healed well and I had no problems and, as I say, this was 20 years ago - I presume things will have moved on even further from there.

I would definitely recommend getting childcare in place for a couple of days though - you may feel 100% straight after, but better to be prepared for a few days of feeling a bit groggy / tired.

Re: GAs - a friend of mine is a consultant anaesthetist: she is an incredibly highly trained, experienced and skilled medical professional (anaesthetics being one of the more demanding areas of medicine to get into). As she always says, there will be no other point in your life when you will be under closer scrutiny than when under a GA - their job is literally to keep you alive!

You will be fine.

Take lots of arnica capsule things for a few days before hand helps deal with the bruising!

I had all 4 out at once but it was under local. I've heard they are more rough with people under GA (because they can) - hence people generally feeling more sore. If I had the choice though, I would do one GA rather than 2, I'd be more concerned about the pressure on your body of the GA's than the mouth pain. Antibiotics and decent painkillers and you will be fine.
