What the hell is wrong with people? I know you do get good eggs out there but let’s be honest, there’s too many bad ones to retain much faith in humanity. Tonight, outside my house, there’s been a man & his mate walking up and down, shouting abuse down a phone. Really aggressive & scary.

Talked to a lady at my local supermarket today who says all staff now wear cameras due to the threat of abuse, physical & verbal from customers. People on the news, committing terrible crimes & acts of violence against one another, children caught up in it all. People at work slagging each other off & sticking the boot in where they could just do the mature thing & shut the fuck up/get on with their work. Putin murdering thousands of innocent civilians. Some complete nasty piece of work shouting abuse at a child in a theatre. Like, who the actual fuck does this???? Any of these things?

AIBU to feel like this about the human race? What an absolute disgrace we are.

We are over populated. I would be far happier if the population took a nose dive.
I see idiots having children. Then having children with different awful people, it’s a viscious cycle.
Also, I took would love to befriend a crow.

I used to think this when I was younger and sillier.

Then I realised that the chance of everyone else but me** being a bit of a dick was really quite small.

YABU. I find most people are decent. I appreciate everyone has annoying traits, including myself, but I don't relate to your view at all.

I mutter this very same thing under (and over) my breath most days. Millennia of evolution and most people are basic, selfish twats. It’s a grim but unavoidable fact so stick to those very few who are worth the effort and ignore the rest

I just don't have the headspace outside work for it. Some people are "why are you spending your evening alone? Go out at the weekend?"
I've spent 40hrs this week being customer facing and my capacity for dealing with people is done

I find most humans to be amazing but everyone is flawed. I don’t expect perfect behaviour from every human.

Get a Crow Caller

My DS is a bit obsessed with crows, and has little chats whereby if he caws two times, the crow listening caws back twice, three times and its answered with three etc.

He also does little experiments where he leaves them different foods in the same locations to see which they prefer. Apple slices and nuts go down well, but unfortunately the mini cheddar reigns supreme.

Now the moment he opens the back door and uses the crow caller he has company

In my experience it is mainly English people who are horrible, entitled and selfish, not the whole human race

People are all just people. Some of them are complete shits, some of them are the nicest people you could ever meet, but most of them are somewhere in the middle, just trying to muddle through

The person who today is being an angry shouty nobhead, could just be having the worst week ever and he's broken. Maybe the entire rest of his life has been spent giving puppies to orphans, but today his Mums died and someone crashed into his car and now he's having an angry rant down the phone, so to you, he's a nobhead.

We see snapshots of people we don't know. We might see them, at their best, we might see them at their worst. The snapshots we remember will be the ones at their worst though.

Retail and bar staff are now wearing cameras. Its not because they're getting more abuse than they used to. It's because the camera technology is getting cheaper. Now the snapshots are getting recorded. What happens to the footage of the 100 customers who don't kick off? In the bin. What happens to the footage of the ones who kick off, it gets reported, and added to your mental tally of nobheads.

There are real twats in the world, Putin is one of them, Dave down the pub probably is too. But most of them are just people who've had a bad day. You're probably one of them. Someone, somewhere has seen you at your worst, and thought "What a nobhead"

Another crow lover here. I have a family of 5 now who live in nearby pine trees and look out for me. It began with Mr and Mrs Crow and this year their five babies, nuts are their favourite food. I heard a podcast about them, it seems that they recognise people from our facial features and are ace at using twigs as tools.
People are pretty self interested and unkind for the most part, give me animals any day.

There are lots of nice people of course, but in general, I prefer animals.

Dont be so ridiculous. A thousand people might walk past your house. ONE is shouting into a phone tonight. Not at you, not near you, just doing his loud thing outside your house. Not hurting you. But you've forgotten the thousand people who passed by your house wihtout you noticing.

All staff do not wear cameras that's bullshit. People are on the news for violence because its news, because its NOT the norm, if it was it would not be news.

Why not look at all the good things that happen? WTF is wrong with you that you are so obsessed with the negative? You are literally being the badness you are whining about. Do better. Be better. Most of us are.

When we start looking at the human race as a scourge or as mostly bad or as low life scum, we start treating people as if they are all low life scum and then we add to the problem.

This is the problem with doing the right thing for the planet. All the sensible people will choose to have no children or only one. The arseholes won't even have this on their radar and will have more children who will be parented by arseholes and potentially become arseholes themselves. Eventually we'll be outnumbered (if there's any planet left to live on)

PoseyFlump that's outdated thinking. The global birth rate is declining everywhere except sub Saharan Africa. Global population is currently rising simply because people are living longer- and you really WOULD have to be a wanker to suggest we start culling the elderly!

If everyone suddenly stopped having children we would be facing one hell of a demographic time bomb- how would we look after our elderly people? The best hope is for a slow, gentle decline- and an open acknowledgement of the problem.

But it's not sheer population that's fucking the planet- it's consumption. The carbon footprint of the average toddler in Mali is a miniscule fraction of that of the average baby boomer in the USA.

But it's also simple maths in relation to the 'I don't like people' problem. We're talking of people you encounter every day. Not people in faraway continents. If the arseholes next door have five kids and you have one then there are likely to be more arseholes in your neck of the woods to encounter in a few years time @crackofdoom
