So embarrassing! What is wrong with me!

Oh my gosh ..

So last week I pulled up to costa drive thru, ordered my coffee, went to next window to pay, then .. drove off!! Completely forgot my coffee 🤣☕

Today, I drove up to the SAME Costa drive thru, ordered my MCDONALD'S cheeseburger and coke (🙆🤷) only to be rightly told 'sorry, this is Costa?) SHIT. Then I drove off to McDonald's so I could order in the right place!

What the hec is going on!! What is wrong with me? I THINK I have just had a lot on my mind recently, and was preoccupied in my own head!

BUT...I'm starting to worry. Please tell me I'm not the only one doing stupid things like this? Or (and while this is a slightly humourous thread I am actually a little bit genuinely worried) should I be concerned??

I recently had a panicked moment at the car park in town when trying to pay for my parking ticket after shopping. Typed in my car reg at the machine, and it didn't recognise it. Realised it was the reg plate from the old car. Typed new car reg - still nothing. Had several goes at several permutations of it before remembering I hadn't driven into town, I had walked.

Ahh! I do stuff like this as well. Every time I come out of the supermarket I have to stand there for a minute while I try and remember where I parked the car. 😁

@HebeMumsnet - that reminds me of the time DH drove DS to school because it was pouring with rain and came home late and dripping wet. I assumed that the car had broken down but he'd forgotten all about it and walked straight past it! He then had to walk back to the school in the rain to get it.

Ha I used to work for a company that collected cars at the end of their lease. One of the drivers called to say the car had been stolen from outside his house.

Turned out he'd driven it to the local shop and forgot Grin

Perimenopause. I'm 44, and this kind of shit is happening to me all the time. It's actually quite scary to me, and I hope it stops soon.

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 11/11/2022 18:57

It'll either be hormonal, in which case it should reverse when you get the hormone balance sorted out

Or it's a form of long covid

Memorypause.

Since hitting 44 I've done more and more of this stuff.

Yesterday I arrived for my click and collect order at 8am. It was booked for 8pm.

On Sunday I made a paprika chicken bake and a nutmeg rice pudding. They turned out to be a nutmeg chicken bake and a paprika rice pudding. I do not recommend either.

I laughed out loud at this! Really made me giggle 🤭

Also I did the driving off thing at McDonalds once not long ago! Paid then drove off. Realised 5 seconds later, just before spotting the lady leaning out of the drive thru window 😆😆😆😆

Maybe you were thinking about the costa incident and drove to costa on autopilot. I always make all of my mistakes in twos

Oh and going back to when I was only 26 (so a year before the apparent deterioration!) I was visiting Leeds and had stopped at Subway. Amongst other things, I got a large drink and as I had a really old car that needed the key in the handle to open it (1997 Hyundai Accent), I popped my drink on the roof....
Yup, you guessed it. There was me driving round Leeds with a large Fanta on my roof, complete with straw

I have a waitrose near me that I usually walk to. I stopped off there in the car on the way back from somewhere, then took my shopping and walked home as normal. 2 days later I couldn’t find my car in our block car park and was about to phone the police to report it stolen when I remembered I’d left it at Waitrose all weekend. I phoned waitrose to explain and apologise and the woman laughed so much she couldn’t talk and had to hand me over to someone else.

I once woke up thinking it was Monday, got ready for work took the train to a main station and realised the train to London was at an odd time and no crowds waiting to catch it. I checked my phone, it was Sunday.... Numbskull. Took me an hour and half to get home - a 20 minute journey at peak time...

Peri menopause?

I went to our local Italian tonight to pick up pizzas. Ordered. Waited in the car 15mins outside, texting friends. Went in. Got pizzas. Said "thanks that's perfect! ". Smiled at the girl and off I went to put pizzas in the car to drive home. At which point the girl comes out of the restaurant and says "excuse me, did you pay?"

I honestly wasn't sure! SO embarrassing!!! I had to go back in with her, walk passed all the diners and pay.

THEN the card machine queried my card & made me put my pin in! 🙈🙈🙈
