Am I overreacting or is that outrageous?

The apostrophe? Yes.

A table display of a battle field and not being asked to touch certain models that clearly people have been? No.

MRSDoos · 09/11/2022 11:37

What kind of shop was is? If it was a history shop it would be a bit different to than say a charity shop.

HirplesWithHaggis · 09/11/2022 11:37

Context? Looks like a model battlefield, no-one should be touching any of it.

Terrysnotmine · 09/11/2022 11:38

Fair point. It’s a second hand shop not very k own to be p.c

I think it’s intended to be a bit glib but also make the point. I’d call it iffy more than outrageous but yeah, not something I’d have said.

Oreosareawful · 09/11/2022 11:41

You're overreacting

YellowTreeHouse · 09/11/2022 11:43

Oh calm down and stop trying to find problems where there aren’t any.

Terrysnotmine · 09/11/2022 11:44

Thanks. I think sometimes we al need a reality check.

I'm with @user1473878824, the incorrect apostrophe is unforgivable.
The Nazi term could be because its a WWII battlefield, at a stretch. Its a bit crap and offensive otherwise, and they only way you could excuse it is if the owners of the shop were of, or are decended from a Nazi persecuted race.
It wouldn't upset me enough to take a photo (its the sort of photo you see on our local spotted page, along with a lots of heated comments about burning the establishment down- but I do live in a low crime area!), but I would perhaps tell the owner I thought it offensive, particularly for the Eastern European members of our community.

Bideshi · 09/11/2022 11:47

Not really. Lots of men people collect model soldiers and it's no fun setting up a battlefield unless you have an enemy. Looks like the right side won anyway. And I sort of think that using 'Germans' rather than 'Nazis' might have more power to offend.

America12 · 09/11/2022 11:48

I'd be more annoyed at the incorrect apostrophe 😬

Alexandernevermind · 09/11/2022 11:49

I should have added, us Brits have always laughed at and made fun of the Nazis because we beat them. This is the reason behind the sign. Many members of our community though lost relatives, or had relatives who were survivors.

Not 'we'. Just you, Terry.

You mean the Russians beat them.

Alexandernevermind · 09/11/2022 11:52

@HuggsBosom I would rather take the credit.

Stoppissingonmyfuckingheather · 09/11/2022 11:52

At least you're honest Wink

Alexandernevermind · 09/11/2022 11:54

@HuggsBosom I'm deluded, but honest 😂😂

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 09/11/2022 11:54

"Nazi" in German was never used by fascists, it was always an insult and could get you in trouble if for ex. overheard by your "Blockwart".

girlmom21 · 09/11/2022 11:56

Is it nazis that you think is outrageous?

cupoftea33 · 09/11/2022 11:57

...it's to the point I'll give it that.
But they could have just written, 'Please do not touch' 'Please do not touch the model/WW1 reenactment etc etc'

Or "All broken Nazis must be paid for" 🤷🏻‍♀️

Myneighboursnorlax · 09/11/2022 11:58

Have you perhaps misread it as:

”please do not touch” - the Nazis

CloudybutMild · 09/11/2022 11:59

HuggsBosom · 09/11/2022 11:50

You mean the Russians beat them.

No, the Axis powers were fought and defeated by the Western Allies, of which “we” (as in the British Empire) were part.

Is teaching of history really this bad nowadays?

^^ This.

I'm Jewish and I'd probably have a little bit of a laugh at that!
