To want a towel to dry my hands?

My sister never has a towel in her downstairs toilet so everytime I wash my hands I have to ask her for a towel. She used to just go and get me one but is now rolling her eyes everytime I ask. Tonight we were there and when I came out of the bathroom I asked her for a towel. Everyone in the room burst out laughing and she rolled her eyes and said “wipe them in your hair”. She basically went on to say that she’s sick of me asking for a towel, she thinks I’m attention seeking and making a massive song and dance all the time and it’s boring. I said it’s perfectly normal to want to wash and dry your hands after using the toilet!!?

anyway when we left I asked DH why he was laughing earlier and he said “because you say the same thing everytime, it’s funny because she gets so wound up by it and when you went in there she said “watch her come out banging on about a towel” so everyone was waiting for you to say it”

Isnt it normal to want to dry your hands after washing them?? Am I being the sick here? DH agrees with my sister apparently that I’m making a song and dance

My sister is the same, and she never has toilet paper in either. It fucks me right off the smelly cow.

And by the way, @kanyoukan i do agree that people can generally be a bit too sterile and ott when it comes to germs (I don’t really wash my hands before I start cooking mainly because I don’t cook much 😂 but when I do everything is going to be, er, cooked anyway, I do if I’m going to making something specially with my hands eg pastry), I do always wash my hands after going to the loo!
If I’ve swept the fireplace out I’m just as likely to wash my hands as I am to just dust them off on my clothes. I’m not especially worked up about that sort of stuff.

Maybe come out with wet hands and dry them on the curtains, sofa kitchen towel? Your sister doesn't sound very kind or hygienic.

After reading the full thread I'm stuck on the poster who doesn't wash their hands after using the toilet. I just don't understand. We were taught this at primary school or maybe even nursery. Ffs

I dry my hands on my petticoat when there is no towel. Hand hygiene is important. Give her a command peel off hook and some pretty hand towels for Christmas.

Ha no I genuinely don't wash them. I do however do loads of house work so I've always got my hands in soapy buckets for scrubbing floors and doing surfaces so they are never too far away from being washed one way or another. I recently sold a litter of puppies and people came to look at them and I did spy loads of people getting the hand sanitiser out in the car before they'd even pulled out the drive, it made me laugh, people do need to be exposed to a certain amount of germs in order to build immunity

Do people really not have a hand towel in the kitchen? How do you dry your hands when you wash them in the kitchen?

I have a hand towel in my kitchen. I think drying your hands on a tea towel is gross.

Yeah same! I have two towels, one is a tea towel and then a small fluffy hand towel.

I also know of a couple who put their towels through the wash after they've used them. I'll re use towels quite a few times before they are washed. I do not know what is standard practice but to me washing towels after one use is crazy!!

At least one person has beaten me to the suggestion of a towel and a command hook as a Christmas present for your sister OP. Save on the wrapping paper and just put it up in their downstairs loo when you're there.

It's basic hygiene.

Oh God, I may regret asking...but what's wrong with the bathroom?

Am I the only one who just dries my hands on my clothes or just shakes them and air dries them if no towel available?

Don’t either of you wash and dry your hands after handling raw meat? Or vegetables with soil on them? Or the bin?

Honestly this thread is making me never want to eat at someone else’s house again. My dad got hepatitis A from someone not washing their hands after the toilet and then making salad in a restaurant (investigated and confirmed by environmental health dept.) You lot sound like an epidemic waiting to happen.

@kanyoukan it takes 27 layers of double ply toilet paper to create a layer between your hand and 💩, just because you can't see it, doesn't mean germ aren't there.
