Mortified… light hearted

Everybody on MN is mortified, every OP is mortified, everything is mortifying. It seems to be a cover all word for every kind of negative emotion, embarrassment, humiliateion, and even some it doesn’t mean, fear, anger. Yes, it’s quite an adaptable word, but God, it’s mortifying how often it’s written on here. If I had a pound for every time somebody wrote mortified on here I’d be a well off woman, almost as well off as the average Mumsnet user whose DH earns a six figure salary.

AIBU?

Everyone used to be 'incandescent with rage' on here. I miss it.

Soubriquet · 04/11/2022 13:53

Honestly I’m truly livid

I’m shaking and crying here.

OMG this one is the worst. I cringe every time, no matter the context.

FindingMeno · 04/11/2022 13:56

The use of entitled winds me up big time.

Sparklfairy · 04/11/2022 13:56

fuming/raging/livid/furious. No love, the term you're looking for is more like 'peeved/annoyed/mildly irritated'.

ThanksAntsThants · 04/11/2022 14:09

Everybody is always screaming at each other, it’s mortifying.

Rockingcloggs · 04/11/2022 14:11

'Vile' & 'toxic' are words many MNetters would rather die than stop using.

ThanksAntsThants · 04/11/2022 14:14

That’s because everybody is ann entitled narcissist.

Reachedmylimit · 04/11/2022 14:16

This thread made me spit out my tea

DonutWorry · 04/11/2022 14:32

'Vile' gives me the rage. I know it's irrational.

honeylulu · 04/11/2022 14:35

It's probably because they are on the spectrum or suffering from dementia, didn't you think of that?

Rockingcloggs · 04/11/2022 14:49

Partner farts in my actual face, AIBU?

Yes you are, have you considered he may have asd?

All over the keyboard? 😂

Bluekerfuffle · 04/11/2022 14:57

It’s probably down to only one or two people starting all the threads.

Onlyforcake · 04/11/2022 15:00

It's the middle aged equivalent of overusing cringe isn't it?

jiggleypuff · 04/11/2022 15:02

And their deadbeat husbands are always an 'amazing dad' for some reason.

Holdonwharaboutthewaffles · 04/11/2022 15:17

yes, people are annoying

Used4tt · 04/11/2022 15:27

Well I'm "discusted" you would mention it.

Mentalpiece · 04/11/2022 15:36

Has anyone mentioned MN bingo yet?
