Mortified… light hearted

Everybody on MN is mortified, every OP is mortified, everything is mortifying. It seems to be a cover all word for every kind of negative emotion, embarrassment, humiliateion, and even some it doesn’t mean, fear, anger. Yes, it’s quite an adaptable word, but God, it’s mortifying how often it’s written on here. If I had a pound for every time somebody wrote mortified on here I’d be a well off woman, almost as well off as the average Mumsnet user whose DH earns a six figure salary.

AIBU?

AIBU or should I suck it up? DP does no housework whatsoever, doesn’t have a job, ignores the kids, games all night and sleeps all day and refuses to shower or brush his teeth. I am fed up of it, WIBU to have a word or is that being too harsh? Apart from that he’s a great dad and partner.

AIBU to be fureous with irresponsible DH? I’m sitting here literally shaking and crying. I left DD13 with DH while I was at a hospital appointment. While I was gone DH had to go round to his elderly DPs house due to an emergency. He was only gone for 20 minutes, but instead of taking DD with him he left her at home alone. I am fuming, anything could have happened, how could he be so irresponsible?

Everyone is "devastated" these days.

Complete exaggeration and self pitying.

Everyone used to be 'incandescent with rage' on here. I miss it.

Yeah they're apoplectic with rage now.
I'm glad people have realised 'did you mean to be so rude (head tilt)' is the worst comeback ever

The poster "devastated and grieving" her wedding photos because she didn't like her wedding hair pissed me off this week.

I'm devastated right now because my parent died this week.

Stupid cow can fuck off with her wedding hair.

Remainiac · 04/11/2022 18:42

Struggling. If they’re not terrified they’re struggling. I always imagine an actual physical wrestling match going on between the poster and whatever conundrum they’re struggling with.

I'm sorry to hear about your parent.

@Rockingcloggs that comment made me laugh 😃

Used4tt · 04/11/2022 19:39

@Weebachu I'm sorry about your parent.

Weebachu · 04/11/2022 19:52

Thanks guys.

AIBU or should I suck it up?

That makes me picture the poster as a Henry vacuum.

Fluffydiamond · 04/11/2022 21:29

Or somebody will come on and say they're a barrister or they have a doctorate and then proceed to write 'you could of done x and you should of done y'.

FujiSakura · 04/11/2022 22:12

Sorry but you are all 'batshit' :)
