To think that this looks absolutely hideous?

It’s Royal Carribbean’s latest cruise liner, Icon of the Seas. Don’t get me wrong, I love cruising, but on ships that look like ships, not floating theme parks or apartment blocks.

Looks like hell on earth!!

Gagagardener · 04/11/2022 10:26

Can't actually see the point of floating about to do that.

Newnamefor2021 · 04/11/2022 10:27

It looks very busy, so I get your point. I wouldn't say no though. Although I highly suspect most of my family would spend the time seasick.

Most with seasickness aren’t impacted on cruise ships due to the size of them you don’t feel movement

LemonsOnSaleAgain · 04/11/2022 10:28

It looks like an enormous hamster cage!

Newnamefor2021 · 04/11/2022 10:30

@CherylCrows oh that's good to know! Thanks

NannyR · 04/11/2022 10:31

I think families would have a ball on that ship. It's not to everyone's taste, but I'm sure there are plenty of more conventional cruise ships to choose from. There must be a market for it or they wouldn't have spent money building it.

RoseMartha · 04/11/2022 10:31

I would hate that personally. Not my kind of holiday.

ouch321 · 04/11/2022 10:32

I think cruise ships just get bigger and bigger. One can only assume that the more people on board a voyage the more cash they'll make each time they set out and that's what it boils down to.

I'm guessing queueing to get off ships this big when it's time to go on land excursions really eats into docked time.

Hoppinggreen · 04/11/2022 10:34

Not my cuppa at all
Only way you would get me on there was if it was free, I had the best cabin there was and was given spending money
Some people would love it though

RewildingAmbridge · 04/11/2022 10:35

Looks like a group of primary school children designed it as some kind of class project.
Not my cup of tea

Threadkillacilla · 04/11/2022 10:38

Sorry but it conjures up images of shrieking kids. Not my idea of a relaxing cruise!

Vinotinto78 · 04/11/2022 10:38

I know someone who has booked for this ship with a two-year wait. It’s about as attractive as a wet weekend at Butlins to me, in but to each their own. Whatever floats your (hideous) boat.

Shareornotwhocares · 04/11/2022 10:39

Royal Caribbean don't actually spend that much time in port - one of the reasons I avoid them.

In a two week cruise sometimes you're lucky to get 5 port days. They say the ship is the holiday hence the theme park ship.

I like to cruise but I like to be in port seeing different places so the like of Marella who tend to go into port 6 days out of 7 is more my thing.

I'd never go near something that big

Oreosareawful · 04/11/2022 10:40

My kids would love that!

SoupDragon · 04/11/2022 10:41

Gagagardener · 04/11/2022 10:26

Can't actually see the point of floating about to do that.

Surely the point is that you (well, kids) have fun whilst travelling from place to place?

cushioncovers · 04/11/2022 10:43

It's brilliantly tacky looking and my idea of a hellish holiday but I would imagine some families with kids would love it.

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 04/11/2022 10:44

These horrible ships are ecological disasters.

Floralnomad · 04/11/2022 10:44

Cruising is not for me but does that flume drop you into the sea as that is what it looks like in that picture

Likewhatever · 04/11/2022 10:44

It does look a bit like a Blue Peter make doesn’t it?

Pugsbladder · 04/11/2022 10:46

Cheryl Crows is completely wrong with her theory.

DoubleShotEspresso · 04/11/2022 10:49

This looks horrific 😱
