To be cross I've been given flu vaccination against my consent

I know the title seems a bit inflammatory but just wanting insights from people who may be able to tell me if this could be an error or something I should be cross about.

Last month I went for my 4th covid jab, I was offered the flu jab but declined as didn't want to overload myself as I struggle with an underlying health condition/disability.

On my online account for my GP under the medication section it says I was given the influenza vaccine and there is no mention of the covid jab at all. Is there anyway they could have just typed the wrong thing in when updating rhe system? Or was I actually given the flu jab while under the impression it was a covid jab?

I don't want anyone to get into trouble as mistakes happen but I also want to know what jab I was actually given. I also don't know if it's worth highlighting to the gp practice as someone could actually be allergic to the flu jab.

I'm not raging just don't know how concerned to be or whether to bring it up , advice please!!

I'd have phoned up the minute I saw that! You wanted a covid jab and whether you have or haven't had it, it is incorrect on your medical records.

FlibbertyGiblets · 02/11/2022 19:31

I think you need to contact the surgery and explain as you have here, that you understood you were given the covid jab on such and such a date but that your online record shows the flu jab was administered. Could they check, please?

whatdodos · 02/11/2022 19:32

Thanks both I will do that, I only noticed today when going to order my repeat! I don't want some poor nurse getting in trouble if I was given the wrong thing that's my worry x

YABU for a ridiculous title.

It’s fine to be concerned about clarifying which immunisation you had and it’s important to make sure medical records are correct; but going in banging on about consent makes you look batshit.

A polite request for clarification from your surgery should clear things up; and if it turns out they gave you the wrong thing then you can pursue it further.

SnackSizeRaisin · 02/11/2022 19:32

I would definitely query this. I would want to know what I actually had. It's careless of them to get it wrong. Not really acceptable.

BIWI · 02/11/2022 19:33

Sorry but this couldn't possibly have happened. Before you have either jab, there's a series of questions that they have to ask you. (Which will be different)

And then when you've had your jab, if it's a Covid jab, you'll be given a little card telling you the jab you've had, the date, and the serial number.

whatdodos · 02/11/2022 19:33

@Dyrne I do regret the title it was more for traffic which is why I mentioned in the OP. Thank you for the reply though x

Was the covid vaccination given at the GP surgery? If not, they probably won't be able to fix this. Try the covid vaccination helpline.

JKGalbraith · 02/11/2022 19:34

my flu & covid were done at the same time: one in each arm. Is that not the case everywhere? Surely you’d have noticed 2 injections

BIWI · 02/11/2022 19:34

But if you really don't know - and I don't believe you - then you ring your surgery and ask.

Soontobe60 · 02/11/2022 19:34

Does your GP do both jabs? We got our texts for each of them from the GP but had to book the covid jab via a link whereas we booked the flu by phoning the surgery

Erm, they do need to be in trouble if they’ve given you the wrong vaccination.

I had my covid jab last week - didnt get a card.

CrochetIsCool · 02/11/2022 19:35

I have just had my Covid booster and did not get any card this time.

TheFlis12345 · 02/11/2022 19:35

I didn’t get a card for my 4th jab.

No. Not everyone getting a covid jab qualifies for a free flu jab. I paid for mine.

whatdodos · 02/11/2022 19:35

@BIWI I wasn't given the card this time but I have with all the other ones. I was just given a leaflet about side effects etc

This one was done at my GP practice the rest have been at vaccination centres. Thank you for everyone replying sorry I'm not responding individually.

This - I was given a document with my covid vaccine details, but no document for my flu jab. Did they give you a document?

JKGalbraith · 02/11/2022 19:35

i didn’t get a card

In fairness I had a card after my flu jab this year weirdly

Also had one after the covid one(s)

Sorry for the dramatic title everyone I was mainly posting for traffic!

Medoca · 02/11/2022 19:37

It will be on your record, don’t panic yet. They usually make a show of explaining which one they are giving you and have to fill in the form on the computer. You’ll be able to find out.

I meant does not everywhere give it in 2 separate syringes in 2 arms, not that everyone should get both jabs

whatdodos · 02/11/2022 19:38

@Medoca thank you! I'm not panicking really just more curious as to if I was given the flu instead of covid or if they made an error writing it down!
