To be cross I've been given flu vaccination against my consent

I know the title seems a bit inflammatory but just wanting insights from people who may be able to tell me if this could be an error or something I should be cross about.

Last month I went for my 4th covid jab, I was offered the flu jab but declined as didn't want to overload myself as I struggle with an underlying health condition/disability.

On my online account for my GP under the medication section it says I was given the influenza vaccine and there is no mention of the covid jab at all. Is there anyway they could have just typed the wrong thing in when updating rhe system? Or was I actually given the flu jab while under the impression it was a covid jab?

I don't want anyone to get into trouble as mistakes happen but I also want to know what jab I was actually given. I also don't know if it's worth highlighting to the gp practice as someone could actually be allergic to the flu jab.

I'm not raging just don't know how concerned to be or whether to bring it up , advice please!!

@Medoca thank you! I'm not panicking really just more curious as to if I was given the flu instead of covid or if they made an error writing it down!

Did you get one injection or 2? If you had 2 you know you got both. They don’t come in the same syringe

PieonaBarm · 02/11/2022 19:40

I've had both from my GP on the same day. Flu in my left arm and Covid in my right. My right arm ached for a couple of days, left arm was fine.

Didn't get a card for either.

Sorry but this couldn't possibly have happened. Before you have either jab, there's a series of questions that they have to ask you. (Which will be different)

And then when you've had your jab, if it's a Covid jab, you'll be given a little card telling you the jab you've had, the date, and the serial number.

I didn't get a card for the covid one this time. I even asked the nurse about it and she said it's all online now.

I agree about the questions though. Some covid specific ones.

Darkstar4855 · 02/11/2022 19:41

You need to phone them and they can check the actual batch numbers to see what you were given. It could have just been recorded wrong on the computer. Either way there’s been a mistake and they need to investigate.

IWasFunBeforeMum · 02/11/2022 19:41

Are you the thug life poo woman?

whatdodos · 02/11/2022 19:41

@JKGalbraith one jab. But it only says online I got the flu jab when I went for the covid jab. I declined when she asked if I wanted flu aswell

Well of course you need to know.

Not just because of what you consented for but because you need to know what you're vaccinated against and what you're not.

itsgettingweird · 02/11/2022 19:47

I didn't get a card for my 4th covid jab.

And as I had both at same time I was asked one set of questions.

Ds didn't even have the form from reception for both his a few weeks later or the barcoded sticker as his hadn't been printed off in the batch.

containsnuts · 02/11/2022 19:48

So if you had a flu jab instead of covid jab you would still be due your covid jab. Has you received an invite?

Cookerhood · 02/11/2022 19:51

No cards for either here. I'm not clear why you are asking on here when there's only one place you can find out.
I had both but to start with my records appeared to say I had had 2 flu injections & no Covid jab & I immediately emailed the surgery. They said it was an error on the system & that it would update itself soon. Which it did.
(& having 2 jabs won't overload your system, your immune system meets many many bugs each day)

Fluffluff · 02/11/2022 19:57

I worked as a vaccinator for a short time and the batch number etc is recorded so hopefully can be checked

feelthebeatfromthetangerine · 02/11/2022 20:00

Did it hurt? How much a vaccination hurts depends on what medicine goes into the arm, not what type of needle they use. The flu jab this year is barely a scratch. I haven't had the latest Covid booster (not eligible yet), but I definitely felt the other three!

She's not suggesting she had both jabs! The record says she had flu jab INSTEAD of covid, not that she had both.

whatdodos · 02/11/2022 20:04

Thank you again for your replies. I don't really know why I asked here, more to find out if people who had experience knew if mistakes putting it online were normal 🤷‍♀️

I've had my invite for the 4th and went along nothing else.

It didn't hurt as much as other covid ones but I can't really remember

@namechange3394 thank you! Wasn't sure if maybe i worded it funny or not!

They often only give one or the other.
I think if you’ve had the covid jab you will definitely have received either a big sheet or a QR code with all the patient info about side effects.
If you didn’t get that then I think
theres prob been a mistake and they’ve filled in and administered the flu vaccine.
I would be much more annoyed that I may be unvaccinated for covid and wouldn’t be able to have it “again” for 3 months just in case the first one was actually the covid vax.

Pandorapitstop · 02/11/2022 20:08

Has it appeared on your NHS app?

HairyKitty · 02/11/2022 20:09

My flu jab hurt less when being injected.
You have to have patient info leaflet for covid vax (but you dont have to get a card).
For me the flu vaccine side effects were minimal and last 2 covid vaccines horrendous so I can tell the difference!

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 02/11/2022 20:11

Have you still got the information leaflet?
My flu one from yesterday is very clear it's for flu. Might be worth a read if you can find it.

I got nothing like that at my recent covid booster. Not even a card.

NewBootsAndRanty · 02/11/2022 20:15

^ same day as my flu jab if that makes any difference

whatdodos · 02/11/2022 20:15

The information leaflet I got given was for covid so I'm starting to think it was a mistake typing it up. Although I had no side effects whatsoever and my arm was hardly sore at all so on the other hand who knows. As you lovely lot have said only one way to find out!

MarmiteCoriander · 02/11/2022 20:18

I was just given a leaflet about side effects etc

What leaflet were you given at the time OP? Covid or flu?

I agree, the surgery should have a record online of the vaccine name, brand, expiry and batch number.

OP- yes, mistakes can happen. Maybe the wrong thing was clicked on the computer screen or maybe you were given the wrong vaccine. Either way- you need to know.

I checked my GP records online and they'd recorded that I chewed 1.6kg of chewing tobacco a DAY!!!! I've never tried the stuff, but I would assume that this amount would be ridiculously excessive if I did! I finally had it removed from my record when we worked out it was a typo of the date I quit smoking regular cigarettes!

MarmiteCoriander · 02/11/2022 20:18

Sorry- cross post OP about what the leaflet said.

I had flu jab at the GP surgery recently and the only questions the nurse asked were “have you had a flu jab before” and “which arm”!

@whatdodos you honestly don’t need to worry that having two vaccines at once, or close together, will “overload” you. That really isn’t a thing. You might get a reaction to one or both vaccines but these are harmless effects (though they can feel very unpleasant), not a sign that anything is wrong.
