To be cross I've been given flu vaccination against my consent

I know the title seems a bit inflammatory but just wanting insights from people who may be able to tell me if this could be an error or something I should be cross about.

Last month I went for my 4th covid jab, I was offered the flu jab but declined as didn't want to overload myself as I struggle with an underlying health condition/disability.

On my online account for my GP under the medication section it says I was given the influenza vaccine and there is no mention of the covid jab at all. Is there anyway they could have just typed the wrong thing in when updating rhe system? Or was I actually given the flu jab while under the impression it was a covid jab?

I don't want anyone to get into trouble as mistakes happen but I also want to know what jab I was actually given. I also don't know if it's worth highlighting to the gp practice as someone could actually be allergic to the flu jab.

I'm not raging just don't know how concerned to be or whether to bring it up , advice please!!

Because a lot of places do them together. My local centre does if you're eligible for the flu vaccine.

Sorry but this couldn't possibly have happened. Before you have either jab, there's a series of questions that they have to ask you. (Which will be different)

And then when you've had your jab, if it's a Covid jab, you'll be given a little card telling you the jab you've had, the date, and the serial number.

How come on every thread where the NHS is involved there's always one drama queen who refuses to accept anything could ever go wrong ever? It's ridiculous. This very, very, very easily could've happened. It's tiresome to pretend the NHS doesn't make near-constant errors, omissions and mistakes.

YABU for a ridiculous title.

It’s fine to be concerned about clarifying which immunisation you had and it’s important to make sure medical records are correct; but going in banging on about consent makes you look batshit.

A polite request for clarification from your surgery should clear things up; and if it turns out they gave you the wrong thing then you can pursue it further.

Spot on. OP has no right at all to know or agree to what is injected into her body. She should be grateful for whatever was or was not administered or risk being considered "batshit". You know who sounds "batshit"? The commenter who thinks OP shouldn't have to consent to a vaccination, now, who was that? Hmm...

I didn't get a card for the covid one this time. I even asked the nurse about it and she said it's all online now.

I agree about the questions though. Some covid specific ones.

It’s different everywhere. I had my Covid booster on Saturday at a GP led surgery and did get a card, leaflet and papers about the vaccine. Has been the same for each of the three previous Covid jabs for me. They are very clear what the vaccine is and who makes it (Pfizer). I got my flu jab on Monday at a pharmacy, no card.

@saraclara I can't get the NHS that you have as I'm in Wales so it's different. I can only get onto something called "my healthonline" it just let's me book appointments" qnd see what medicstions I've had/can order x

Ah, yes. That's annoying. It's probably as quick to call your GP as to apply for the Covid pass then.

As an aside wouldnt you think that a focus group meeting to discuss what to call a new vaccine could have come up with something a little more consumer friendly than spikevax. Sounds as though they phoned Miss Trunchball and took her first suggestion.

For my 4th Covid jab (plus flu jab) I wasn’t asked any questions or given a card.
The pharmacist doing the vacs was very harassed and I doubt I was there for more than a minute!

It's better than Comirnaty which sounds to me like a small village somewhere in Ireland.

I didn't have a card with my lastest covid booster.

Are they meant to ask questions? What questions?

no one asked me anything - it was quick
Literally in jab and out. No chat/questions and certainly no card

maybe it depends on GP practice

Mine was done at a dedicated vaccine centre. I was asked about allergies and if I was on blood thinners and which arm I wanted it in. I think that was it.

hashbrownsandwich · 03/11/2022 16:07

HCP and vaccinator here.
It could easily be an admin error but if it was then the practice will need to record it as a 'significant' event and investigate how the error occured.
I vaccinate at a rate of 450 people (covid and flu at same time so 900 actual jabs) and I have an administrator doing the computer while I jab. I have to put my trust in them that they are recording the right thing but I can see how one wrong click could cause me a proper pain!

knittingaddict · 03/11/2022 16:07

And while I'm here, I think that in the current environment of vaccine misinformation and conspiracy theory, your thread title is hugely irresponsible and goady.

AlannaOfTrebond · 03/11/2022 16:25

Erm, actually you can "overload your system".
I'm immunosuppressed and was strongly advised against getting both jabs at the same time as my body would be better off only having to deal with one at a time.
The OP says she has an underlying health condition, so it may have been a prudent decision on her behalf. As only the OP knows her other health concerns none of us can judge.

katseyes7 · 02/11/2022 20:31

Didn't they give you a little card? You get one of those with your Covid vaccine. I don't know about flu jabs, l don't have them.

Lots of posters here have said they weren't given anything, i.e. no card and no info sheet.

2bazookas · 03/11/2022 16:59

Each dose carries a unique ID code which is recorded against the patient recipients name. All you need do is get your record checked to see whether it has a flu or covid ID number.

I don't think it looks batshit at all. I think it would be taken v seriously. It is not ok to vaccinate someone, or do anything medical at all without consent. If it is a fuck up, it is a really serious one.
