Just realised I have been sat like this for the past twenty minutes.

AIBU to be abit pi*sed off that one in particular can afford to spend £300 on designer clothes for her baby while saying that its worthwhile because they wont mess them up, when thats about the amount I spend on DC AND myself in a year.

pmsl there was 2 huge threads about this a few weeks back.

platesmasher · 28/01/2008 22:43

I'm going to write to the woman and tell her to grow up ( and send me her car seat , I need one like that)

3andnomore · 28/01/2008 22:44

lol, the latter would be pure green eyed monster , though, lol, wouldn't it?

I must say though, that I find those sort of extravagant spendings just completely wasteful of good money...but I suppose if we had more I might would indulge, too.

But yeah, the whole fake baby reborn thing is pretty freaky....

Lulah · 28/01/2008 22:47

Very sad ...am quite disturbed watching these women...madness

JingleyJen · 28/01/2008 22:50

I do think alot of these ladies need counselling not a doll.

FlameNFurter · 28/01/2008 22:52

I like threads each time it is on - this is the first time I have seen it.

Feel so sorry for the grandson woman I know that my mum would miss my DC terribly if we moved somewhere like that, and that is without having them live with her on and off since birth.

The other woman really though "Its just like being a parent"... but without actually parenting. Plus the £300 on clothes - it isn't wasted, not like if you spend it on those nasty little things that move and live in their clothes

WinkyWinkola · 28/01/2008 23:01

The women on this programme all need help. Trying to be mums with dolls.. . .. . .weird. Esp. the grandmother trying to replicate a real child - her grandson - with a doll. She should give up - and grow up - trying to be a mother. Thankfully, her own grandson told her what a loon she is. Get a job or something to occupy yourselves, silly women.

lucy5 · 28/01/2008 23:04

This was very disturbing. Why didn't the grandma foster and put her love in to something real. The other woman was a complete mess, poor woman.

kutilputil · 28/01/2008 23:23

hey Viggoswife, my face was also throughout the whole hour, less ads when i took a breath!what freaks....i mean i'm broody, ttc but this is sick!and the sickest is the cow who is making these things and selling them to these vunerable weirdos and most probably making a killing on it!and that foolish woamn, going to the US to pick up a doll...i mean its crazy when people go abroad to adopt a child when there are so many children in need here in the UK...but to go there to geta doll and spend £300 pounds on flippin clothes for a DOLL!oh it makes my blood boil just thinking about the kind of weirdos we have in our society.

FlameNFurter · 28/01/2008 23:28

They are gentle weirdos not harming anyone though.

I worry for them, but they don't upset me iyswim.

Swedes · 28/01/2008 23:29

I watched the last 20 mins, it cracked me up. Especially the bit when the doll was cracked and she stood back from the doll and said oh it's spoilt it now.

MrsEi25 · 28/01/2008 23:33

the first time i watched this programme i felt really sorry for the grandmother woman until the end when she spoke to her grandson! i assumed by the way she was acting that he was her son who had died or something similar!! she spent quite a bit of money on the doll... why didnt she put that money into a fund to go and visit her beloved grandson. it is soooo strange watching grown women walking along pushing expensive prams with expensive dolls dressed in expensive clothes laying inside them!! they should save that money and put it toward a bit of therapy!! my friend made a point that these women seem like that type of desperation-driven women who would snatch another womans baby. it would make it easier being able to replace the real baby with a breathing, moving doll. very odd IMO a bit scay to be entirely honest!!

MrsEi25 · 28/01/2008 23:35

*scary that was meant to say

jezzemx · 28/01/2008 23:37

Dh turned tv over to fake baby, we both sat looking at the tv then at each other. We had to turn it over. Couldn't bear to watch it any longer.
Some people are very very strange.

TD I can't beleive the psych bloke said it was ok - it is clearly not ok to give an inanimate object a life such as this; they even have carseats etc for them... that is a bit more than "a harmless cuddle"

A pet cat would have released seratonin/happy hormones etc!

I think these women need serious and rapid mental health help - something is clearly not quite right

It is so sad for them

Alambil · 28/01/2008 23:57

OMG @ the woman with 3 kids and the doll

These women REALLY need help... I hope they get it from being "outed" on this prog

Swedes · 28/01/2008 23:59

Oh, and I hope everyone else removes their pushchair wheels and washes them every time they've been outside. I do, clearly. .

ArchiesMama · 28/01/2008 23:59

this whole thing freaks me out.....ore worrying is how popular it is! I discovered this whole reborn thing when i was searching ebay for premature baby clothes and loads kept coming up as premature/reborn doll clothes...so i googled reborn and was V V SCARED!!!!

phoebebouffet · 29/01/2008 00:08

PMSL at Swedes, I wanted to throw those wheels at her!!

newyorkdolls · 29/01/2008 00:15

Harry's Grandad said the most honest thing on there imo. It looks like its on a mortuary slab. Harry's Nanna so didn't like that!!

Alambil · 29/01/2008 00:27

It was true though - and how freaky for Harry on cam to see a "baby harry"

ArchiesMama · 29/01/2008 00:30

Harrys line was pretty good ' its not a baby its doll nana you num nut'

scottishmummy · 29/01/2008 00:30

watched it when it was on, morbid curiosity really,i tried to be empathic but actually they are jaw-droppingly-awful-worthy-of-ridicule

the amount that woman spent in selfridges i was appalled

throughout programme i was thinking it's just a creepy plastic dolly..still do

scottishmummy · 29/01/2008 00:35

yes ArchiesMama its not a baby its a doll nana you num-nut'
