Do the Loose women really get paid this per episode

£5000…for an hour?!

I read it today in an online paper…imagine that, if you did only two shows per week (worked two hours per week) that’s 480 grand a year?!

It’s also interesting that this thread is focussing on a handful of relatively well paid women in entertainment, as opposed to the likes of Ant and Dec or, even better, multi-millionaire footballers. We’re apparently fine with men earning ridiculous amounts of money

eh why bring the gender card into it?> I've seen umpteen threads on mn bashing the salaries of ant and dec, Gary Lineker, Daniel Craig, ronaldo etc.

psycho2 · 01/11/2022 14:25

*You think Penny Lancaster, Kelle Bryan and Frankie look like regular women? Who don’t fork out on their appearances or watching their figures?

What*

not seen it in ages so wouldn't know the panels these days but the ones I can remember like Coleen Nolan, Nadia Sawalha,Carol McGiffin, Fern Britton, Jane Moore, Lisa Maxwell, Linda Robson, Denise Welch, Janet Street-Porter and Gloria Hunniford never looked like women who spent vast amounts on their appearance by any means. They looked very much like normal women you'd see on the school run.

So you haven’t seen it in years and have no idea who is on it, but felt it made sense to weigh in and give your opinion on what the current crop looked like and how much they spend on their appearances?

Make it make sense! 😂

The ‘gender card’. 😂

Please link a few of these umpteen threads bashing men’s salaries.

@RishisProudMum I mentioned footballers on the thread, but was focused more on The Loose women, as that’s what the thread is about, after all.

Indeed you have. What part of what I’ve said is that addressing?

balalake · 01/11/2022 19:17

I'm surprised it is only £5000 to be honest. I bet men who do chat shows get paid more.

James Corden allegedly $250,000 per show for example.

@determinedtomakethiswork Which posts are they paying her that amount for?
So bloody lucky, I mean, that’s not even work

I suspect anything where she is advertising things will easily warrant such a price - look at the number of followers she has. All those people seeing something you sell. Advertising can pay very well.

Abraxan · 01/11/2022 19:38

Keyansier · 01/11/2022 10:20

@monsteramunch It's not snobbery on my part as I don't know her apart from when she was on the X Factor and she came across a bit thick on there (but that might have been down to editing).

In what way did she come across as 'thick'?

No way is she thick if she has managed to get into the position she is in, it didn't happen overnight or just by magic. To build the profile takes a lot of time and effort.

Murdoch1949 · 02/11/2022 01:18

Doubtful they are getting that much. It is a low rating daytime show. No more than £2,000 each, still overpaid.

ToGanymedeAndTitan · 02/11/2022 02:04

FatEaredFuck · 31/10/2022 22:26

I'm not a fan of LW but presumably that effortless effect of chatting aimlessly and interviewing guests involves a lot of prep work, PR etc

This.
People always seem to scoff at this line of work - oh, you just sit there and chat, or just write/waffle a few paragraphs and call it an article!
Er, no. 🙄🍪
A lot more goes on than that.
Coming up with regular /daily content, keeping up with topical issues, getting it out there, editing/deadlines etc.

Moraxella · 02/11/2022 02:53

I don’t think they pay higher bracket tax, they’ve probably set up Ltd companies.

It's like that with many jobs/industries people aren't in though. People often think many jobs are much easier than they actually are or they have a complete misrepresentation in their minds of the reality of jobs. There are all sorts of pressures in jobs we don't see until we actually do them ourselves. There's no such job as a dream/lucrative job whether you're a movie star or a super model. They will all have their pressures and downsides.

Yes but the moment they take money out of said companies they pay income tax.

Kylie Jenner gets over $1mil per instagram post. The world is a crazy place nowadays!

That's why there isn't much left in the pot for us lot. The rich celebs and others are creaming it off. There's only so much money in circulation. 🤔

Lots of thick people manage to find fame. You only have to look at programs like The only way is Essex etc. They get good managers who ensure the money rolls in. They soon get rich but they're still thick....and very lucky.

TarasHarp55 · 03/11/2022 11:03

psycho2 · 01/11/2022 10:06

Some of them hardly prepare though. I read Linda Robson barely reads up on stuff, that's why she often looks bewildered

to be fair though it wouldn't take much prep, 90 percent of what they talk about is trivial stuff and even the news stories that they talk about are often stuff you could give general comments on, it's not a hardcore news/current affairs show.

No it wouldn't take much prep so why doesn't she, and because it's not a hard core news/ current affairs show even less excuse for it.....She sits there bewildered sometimes and it's obvious she's done no prep at all.

TarasHarp55 · 03/11/2022 11:03

girlmom21 · 01/11/2022 08:39

She's clearly not that thick considering she's managing to easily make in a week what most of us make in a year.

Good manager?

Why do you think the people on TOWIE are thick?

LindaEllen · 03/11/2022 11:32

It's definitely not just for an hour. They meet hours before the show with the researchers, hours afterwards, and are expected to read up on topics at home.

It's still an obscene amount of money for the hours done - but it's not just for ONE hour.

TarasHarp55 · 03/11/2022 13:11

RishisProudMum · 03/11/2022 11:10

Why do you think the people on TOWIE are thick?

Because of their basic lack of knowledge about stuff in general which they aren't afraid of admitting. Confused

Because of their basic lack of knowledge about stuff in general which they aren't afraid of admitting.

Or they're just very good at playing their character

Playing those characters is their job, for which (as you’ve noted), they get paid handsomely. Caricaturising stereotypes has been one of the pillars of Western entertainment for millennia.

I'd more inclined to think people who watch ‘reality’ tv and think it’s reality are a bit thick, tbh.

Well are we saying that only poor people are thick. Because there are thick celebs. They can still be thick and make money you know. Jade Goody made millions. She was so uneducated she didn't even know how racist she was. Or was she just "playing her character" too.

TarasHarp55 · 03/11/2022 14:29

RishisProudMum · 01/11/2022 11:20

If the broadcasters paid peanuts, the high calibre talent would go elsewhere and their ratings would drop. And then they’d lose money.

ITV made nearly 2.3 billion pounds of revenue in 2021. Why are you more concerned with the perceived ‘unfairness’ of the people who make them that money receiving commensurate compensation than the existence of billion pound corporations?

It’s also interesting that this thread is focussing on a handful of relatively well paid women in entertainment, as opposed to the likes of Ant and Dec or, even better, multi-millionaire footballers. We’re apparently fine with men earning ridiculous amounts of money. 🤔

I don't think anyone is fine with what some make celebs and footballers are paid. People are always protesting about them. ... But the thread was about Loose Women.Confused

TarasHarp55 · 03/11/2022 14:56

So if no well paid celebs can't possibly be "thick" as some have said, what does that make the rest of us. I presume none of us aren't thick but we don't get the kind of money they get. Of course they can be thick and earn good money, or even if they're not they pretend to be because obviously that is who people look up to and aspire to be? Either way it's sad.
