£5000…for an hour?!

I read it today in an online paper…imagine that, if you did only two shows per week (worked two hours per week) that’s 480 grand a year?!

No idea but I just googled it and it says Stacey Solomon earns £3000 per episode and £12,000 for Instagram posts. Who on earth is paying her that much, and why? She's as thick as mince.

I work in this field and have worked with SS previously. She actually earns much more than this number quoted!

Whatisthisweirdfluthing · 31/10/2022 23:01

@Carpediem15 Ok, it said £5000 in the paper and online, I’ve not that much of an avid viewer, I didn’t see that…still a hell of a lot though!

Good luck to them.

If they're being paid that much, imagine how much ITV are making out of them.

I guess it's all relevant.

Whatisthisweirdfluthing · 31/10/2022 23:02

@pizzatheactions Per IG post or per show? How much 😅

OP posts:
Carpediem15 · 31/10/2022 23:03

Why would they pay for hair and makeup as they often show behind the scenes photos on SM where the ITV make up people are doing it plus they have their clothes provided.

Whatisthisweirdfluthing · 31/10/2022 23:04

@BagOfBollocks I agree it’s great for them and I don’t blame them for not turning it down etc, but if you were to put it in comparison with a nurses wage or teachers etc…it’s bonkers. Those professions work so hard, much longer hours and are giving so much back to the world…how can in be that people in tv who talk or footballers kicking a ball around get such a vast amount more.

Whatisthisweirdfluthing · 31/10/2022 23:06

@Carpediem15 Why would SS be discussing how much they get paid on the show 🥺

OP posts:
Cuddlywuddlies · 31/10/2022 23:06

@Carpediem15 Depending on how the show is run the production may pay for hair and makeup up to a certain budget but if an actor/tv personality wants certain ppl etc then they pay for them. It’s quite common. 5k per episode does not mean 5k free to spend in their account.

Stripeyrug · 31/10/2022 23:07

I'm not surprised if you can earn close to a grand a day doing mid level consultancy

Whatisthisweirdfluthing · 31/10/2022 23:07

*How can IT be

OP posts:
Whatisthisweirdfluthing · 31/10/2022 23:09

@Stripeyrug What type of consultancy?

OP posts:
Carpediem15 · 31/10/2022 23:10

I don't know but JSP said they should all be getting the same pay and she had taken it up with the powers that be so it happend. Carole Mcgiffin also mentioned it a few years ago.

Whatisthisweirdfluthing · 31/10/2022 23:11

I think my favourites are Christine, Frankie, Judy, don’t mind Colleen and don’t mind JSP (keep thinking that’s Jessica Sarah Parker 😁) Kay is nice too

OP posts:
faultyshowers · 31/10/2022 23:11

I've always assumed that the one who leads the show gets more for the episode than the others

Whatisthisweirdfluthing · 31/10/2022 23:12

@Carpediem15 So which ones was she implying were getting paid more? SS is hardly on it anymore, don’t think it’s her?
I suppose main presenters may get more I’d imagine

Oh and Ruth! Can’t forget lovely Ruth, if only they’d put her back on This morning…but that’s another discussion

This is like when people marvel at how much footballers or movie stars earn. They earn it because people they make much more money for the corporations for which they work, as people want to watch them. They generate huge amounts of revenue and they are rewarded for that, so that they will continue to do so. That’s literally all that there is to it.

The fact that (insert profession here) work way harder and are of far more benefit to society is entirely irrelevant to that. It’s just the nature of capitalism.

Whatisthisweirdfluthing · 31/10/2022 23:14

@RishisProudMum (name 😂) Doesn’t make it right though, does it?

Per IG post! It's difficult to say as a ballpark as it depends wildly on the advertisers and there are so many other factors, but SS charges at least twice that for a post now

TwoMonthsOff · 31/10/2022 23:14

At least the public aren’t funding their wages, unlike the BBC ‘talent’! For example Gary Linneker 1.36m a year

Whatisthisweirdfluthing · 31/10/2022 23:15

@pizzatheactions 😳

faultyshowers · 31/10/2022 23:17

Famous people can earn an absolute fortune on Instagram. Even very minor ex TOWIE or ex reality show contestants seem to have made millions on there

ItHasTheJuice · 31/10/2022 23:18

I like Stacy Solomon, I don’t think she comes across as thick at all

RishisProudMum · 31/10/2022 23:18

Whatisthisweirdfluthing · 31/10/2022 23:14

@RishisProudMum (name 😂) Doesn’t make it right though, does it?

If we choose to live in a capitalist society (and we do, every time we vote), then it’s right according to the system we’ve chosen, yes.

Also, as what they earn is a pittance compared to what ITV is generating from them, I think that if you have an issue with the distribution of wealth, you would be better served looking at the corporations themselves.
