...putting your hand in a sink of old, cold, greasy washing up water to pull the plug out. Shudder.

Closely followed by having to pull the plug out of someone else's, old, cold bath water.

Plunging a toilet when inappropriate things have been flushed, or a large item is left floating. For me, luxury life is a long handled plunger beside each toilet.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/10/2022 15:51

Is your plug not attached to the basin with a little chain? I pull the chain, no need to touch the water.

Unfortunately no. Mine don’t have a chain.

This is when I decided I was finally a grown up, when it didn't bother me any more. I was mid 40s. Now when I do it I lament my lost youth 😂

ParentallyUnprepared · 30/10/2022 15:58

I hate doing both of those things too.

AuntieMarys · 30/10/2022 15:59

Rubber gloves. Or get dh to do it ( mine does all the washing up)

lannistunut · 30/10/2022 16:00

I like clearing hair put of the plug hole, have a special tool for this (repurposed bike spoke).

Pumpkinpatchlookinggood · 30/10/2022 16:00

Taking a mouthful of coffee and it's gone cold..

FeetupTvon · 30/10/2022 16:01

Absolutely- especially if there’s small pieces of wet bread floating in it too.

CheezePleeze · 30/10/2022 16:02

Thinking the plughole is blocked with a bit of veg and pulling out a fat slug is marginally worse.

I'm still recovering from this morning's ordeal.

Use a butter knife down the side of the plug and pop it out, allow water to drain, rinse sink and fish out the plug

KitchiHuritAngeni · 30/10/2022 16:06

3 days ago I woke up and found blood on my face, washed it to see where it had come from, couldn't find any cuts or anything.

Went back through to my room to find a massive, squashed spider on my pillow. I had clearly rolled over and squashed it in the night WITH MY FACE.

I would rather bathe in a greasy cold sink of yuck than go through that again 🤢🤣

Asher33 · 30/10/2022 16:07

Isn't this why we have washing up bowls?

Get a chain

Every day I thank the Lord for Marigolds.

Minniem2020 · 30/10/2022 16:09

Fishing bits of old food out of the sink because apparently DP can't scrape plates in to the bin before he does the dishes. It's the only thing that makes me glad he hardly ever washes up.

Toomanysleepycats · 30/10/2022 16:09

My most disgusting thing is seeing people (actually I’ve ever only seen men do it) ‘hoiking’ (spitting out a gob of phlegm) in the street.

It was very common among men when I lived in the Middle East a while ago. I believe it was common in this country too in the days when tuberculosis was endemic (eg that’s the reason for spittoons). The country where I was living had a lot of overseas workers where tuberculosis was often rife, so I guess that accounted for it.

But if I see someone in the uk do it these days, it just makes me shudder.

Burgoo · 30/10/2022 16:11

Better than pulling out another type of plug! haha

Lorrymum · 30/10/2022 16:11

Putting my hand in a decomposing pumpkin to remove the candle before depositing rotting pumpkin in the garden

Aquamarine1029 · 30/10/2022 16:18

I don't understand why you'd leave dirty water in the sink to begin with. Gross.

wetpebbles · 30/10/2022 16:18

@spookypanda Ahhhh
