My husband's pretty awesome

I'm new to Mumsnet... so 'hello'!

I'm really sad to see posts from women who have discovered their husband is cheating, or their husband moans when they switch the heating on. I'm pretty sad that there are so many dickhead husbands and partners out there.

I feel kinda like I'm gonna get flack for saying this, but my husband is pretty awesome. He's currently out fishing with our son, he's a fab dad, I still fancy the pants off him - and he pulls his weight around the home.

Is he a freak of nature? I'm trying not to boast here, but he is pretty frickin' awesome - even after 20 years together.

I guess I'm trying to say that there are some great guys out there... is yours one of them?

AIBU for saying this???

I’m with you OP, I found a good one.

YANBU. I am horrified reading some posts on here about all the shitty husbands and dads and I count my blessings. DP and I have been together 8 years and have a 1 year old DS. He's an amazing and really loving dad, very hands on and goes above and beyond for DS and happily does more than his fair share. He's also a great partner and helps out with all the housework and chores. This is exactly how is should be, it makes me really angry when I hear about all these bone idol men who expect the women to do everything.

You what?

Seriously, you are trying to tear me down for using the word 'hubster'? Because YOU don't like it? Up the sisterhood, sugar-tits!

Lovely to hear that there are some good blokes out there, I'm so saddened to read so many women have shitty partners, it made me appreciate what I've got. X

My DH is just aces. On a day to day he plays a very active role in caring for our DD, he does half the housework and we have come to a place when generally the mental load is fairly evenly spread. He is also funny, clever, ridiculously creative, loving and just my safe space. I am training for white collar boxing and last night I had a terrible time at sparring, he's been so supportive and great with pep talks and today he gaffer taped a cushion to his tummy so I could repeatedly punch him to the stomach. He's just the best!

Mines a good one, not perfect. He doesn't do as much washing as he should but knows I'll do my own and leave his if it mounts up

He tells me he loves me and brings me small treats, doesn't oppressive me for sex but blows my mind when I do want it.

He is bad at finding things and organising but is good at finances and appreciates that it's also his job to keep the place clean and tidy.

We do have fights but it's only cause we care.

He makes me laugh and I make him laugh and when it comes to family tragedies he is amazing. And he's the best cat dad ever.

Sometimes I think we could wring each others necks but we're made for each other and as much as I was looking forward tongim being away for the weekend so I could be a bachelorette for 2 nights, I ant bloody wait to see him tomorrow.

I can tell you’re drunk so I’ll leave you to it, there is no ‘tearing down’ from here and this post is telling on you, ‘sugar tits’ indeed 🤣 Easy on the blossom hill rose there.

Yep. I think that's probably for the best that you bow out now. If insinuating I'm drunk (or a Blossom Hill drinker - how offensive!) is your zinging cheap come back. PS... bet you can't resist having the last word... go on, knock yourself out...

Yep I'm lucky
mine plans the meals, shops, cooks, dosent drink or smoke.

Dosent go online or play on the xbox. A very happy chappy in general. Never moody or nasty.

MyIgloo · 29/10/2022 21:17

I quite like mine 😂 (light hearted I do absolutely adore him)

We are polar opposite but we work

Yes he can be a twat but so can I 🤷‍♀️

He’s a great dad to our kids, shares the housework, works hard to provide for us, sometimes I wish he would do more of the boring tasks like remembering to tax the fucking car…in fairness he did let me get another cat when we already had 3 I am a sucker for rescuing them

As I tell him often I’m going to keep him a bit longer 😂😂

Well yes I would and that would be to say how am I insinuating, I’m straight up saying it 🤦🏼‍♀️ Combative over nothing, using stupid sayings equals pissed in my eyes plus you mentioned being a few wines down. I merely said yuk to the word hubster then questioned what you meant in your answer and you just went off.

You can’t accuse OP of being combative over nothing when you started it because of your dislike of a word she used. YOU were combative over nothing.

C'mon... you may not like 'hubster', but sugar-tits is a great saying!! Gone off on one? Nah. Drunk? Nah? Glass of wine of a Saturday evening with my hubster? Yeah. Feeling mischievous? Little bit. 😘

No I don’t like that word, unless the OP made it up (spoiler alert they didn’t) then it’s not combative, saying ‘only a thick shite would use that word’ would be combative, I merely expressed dislike as have others 🤷‍♀️ Go off in support of a hairy knuckle though..

Love mine. He's a decent human being. He's kind, he deals with my shit; I deal with his. It isn't paradise; we don't fuck like teenagers, but he has my back, I have his. We've been married 25 years. He's 62, I'm 60.

Trust is all. Trust and respect.
