My husband's pretty awesome

I'm new to Mumsnet... so 'hello'!

I'm really sad to see posts from women who have discovered their husband is cheating, or their husband moans when they switch the heating on. I'm pretty sad that there are so many dickhead husbands and partners out there.

I feel kinda like I'm gonna get flack for saying this, but my husband is pretty awesome. He's currently out fishing with our son, he's a fab dad, I still fancy the pants off him - and he pulls his weight around the home.

Is he a freak of nature? I'm trying not to boast here, but he is pretty frickin' awesome - even after 20 years together.

I guess I'm trying to say that there are some great guys out there... is yours one of them?

AIBU for saying this???

I quite like mine 😂 (light hearted I do absolutely adore him)

We are polar opposite but we work

Yes he can be a twat but so can I 🤷‍♀️

He’s a great dad to our kids, shares the housework, works hard to provide for us, sometimes I wish he would do more of the boring tasks like remembering to tax the fucking car…in fairness he did let me get another cat when we already had 3 I am a sucker for rescuing them

As I tell him often I’m going to keep him a bit longer 😂😂

Love this... we rescue problematic staffies... so I totally get the whole rescue animal thing!

Personal attacks and troll hunting

wonder how many more talk rules you’ll break on this thread

You believe what you want, that is your wont. Plenty of others pointing out the obvious here, no personal attacks 💅🏻

Yanbu but no, mine isn't. I'm not a catch either. We make each other miserable and have done so for many years. I love my kids and couldn't wish them but way but if it wasn't for them I wish we'd never met.

@Navigatingnewwaters just report and move on. No need to bore everyone with your misery.

Yes, you caught me out. I just said that because I thought it was dead glamorous and show-offy, like a supermodel, or rock star. I'm really an astronaut.

I too am married to an awesome man. We met at school at 4 ,Starting dating at 15 and married a few years later. We have 6 DC and I pinch myself everyday that I am so so lucky. He works hard and is my back bone. I simply adore him.

Met at school... that's so awesome! ❤️ Congratulations.

I love my DH. When we met I was 17 and he was 35...people said it wouldn't work but they were wrong, 20 years later we're still going strong. He is amazing, I've never had to work and he has provided so well for us. Lovely thread OP

I’m not sure the fact you’ve “never had to work” is a good thing?

EarringsandLipstick · 29/10/2022 21:53

I don't find this amazing. You've never worked? Since 17???

And with the age gap, forgive me, but how will you manage when he's at retirement age? How will you manage financially then?

Icantthinkwhat · 29/10/2022 21:55

Mine has complex PTSD, Bipolar AND Autism (not diagnosed officially until he was 60 ! ) Yet still continued to be absolutely fabulous....

I’d stopped commenting until you tagged me soooooooo 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

SundayAtDevilDirt · 29/10/2022 22:05

Mine is awesome. We've got some really awful stuff going on at the moment and there's no one else I'd rather have by my side through it. He does so much for us all and rarely complains. I'm in awe of him every single day.

I think the "all men are shits" line does women as well as the good men a disservice. So many women have really low bars and accept awful behaviour as the norm. Women need to know they can and should expect better.

goldfinchonthelawn · 29/10/2022 22:06

My husband is also lovely. Had cocktails and a candelit bath with him yesterday. He spent the afternoon looking around shops for new clothes with me today. Said, 'no problem' when I changed my mind about going to a party tonight because I am knackered and just watched trashy TV with me all night instead, after he'd cleaned the kitchen and made a cup of tea. We've been together 28 years and he still tells me he fancies me all the time, even though I am about 30lbs heavier than when we met. He's lovely with DC too and they adore him.

Seriously, you are trying to tear me down for using the word 'hubster'? Because YOU don't like it? Up the sisterhood, sugar-tits!

Bit passive aggressive (or maybe just plain aggressive) to write ‘up the sisterhood, sugar tits’, OP! @BonnyT

SherbettingSherbert · 29/10/2022 23:29

Here for the DP appreciation thread! DP if freakin awesome and perhaps I don’t show it out loud enough, this is a nice prompt. Not perfect and he could certainly leave a few less tea stained teaspoons about the kitchen but I’ll allow it because he’s a hottie, kind, I’m not picnic either and he puts up with my shit. Couldn’t have dreamed up a better dad for DC if I tried.
I’m glad you’re happy with DH OP :)

MrsKeats · 29/10/2022 23:33

The current dh is great,
My previous one was awful.
