To ask you to admit doing the annoying things people on MN complain about?

For an anonymous internet forum, it continually strikes me as odd that people very rarely admit to engaging in the problematic or annoying behaviours complained about on here - it's always someone else doing it, apparently. Whether it's hogging the middle lane on the motorway, having kids who are out of control in public places, being a noisy neighbour or not picking up dog poo, people on MN constantly complain about these things happening around them but if no one on here admits to doing it, who are all these offenders? For example, several people in my neighbourhood are leaving their dog's poo around constantly, but when this is brought up on here every single dog owner loudly exclaims that it it's these dog owners who give them a bad name, that they never go out walking without carrying several bags for good measure! Same with bad driving - people on here love calling out driving pet peeves, but surely at least some people on here are engaging in those very same behaviours e.g. tailgating, driving too slowly or bad parking, that everyone complains about?

Are people on here just squeaky clean or in denial? I admit it, I do hog the middle lane sometimes, there you go 😬

I used to be what lazy parents on here call a "performance parent" when mine were little. I also wee behind a bush when out in the countryside.

I wee in the garden of I'm working down at the bottom end, no-one can see and my late OH swore it was good for the soil!

estoymaquillandome · 26/10/2022 11:41

I have toilet brushes. I eat lots of meat. I don't add lentils to my Spaghetti bolognese. I don't put stuff on Facebook marketplace.

peaceandove · 26/10/2022 11:43

If you deliberately hog the middle lane because you're just too scared, nervous, incompetent to actually, you know, manoeuvre your car confidently between lanes Then. Don't. Drive. On. The. Motorway.

You are a danger to yourself and every other driver on the motorway.

ArseMenagerie · 26/10/2022 11:44

I use the dustpan and brush on the kitchen table

I used to have wind chimes. I took them down after Mumsnet collectively assured me they were the Devil’s work and made me the worst neighbour ever. I miss them :(

Then put them back, they make much less noise that dogs, children playing and pee-inducing water features, I've never understood the animosity towards them.

poonarmie · 26/10/2022 11:46

I wear the same bra for several weeks without washing it. Fortunately, it's black.
I don't shower or bath every day. Fortunately, I don't suffer from BO.
I wash bed sheets every 2-3 weeks.
I flush tampons down the loo.
I use the C word all the time at home.

ISeeTrees · 26/10/2022 11:49

I park in Parent and Child spaces sometimes when I don't have DC with me. I have a bad back and need to swing the door out far enough to get out of the car a bit more easily.
I don't always do it but I think of MN when I do.

I agree with this when there are 3 lanes and do the same quite often.

This is what driving is, stay at home if it's too much hassle Confused what else are you supposed to do on the road in your car stick to 60 exactly like the lorries on your left but you in the middle lane watching tiktok?

Also don't you get it: it's dangerous, we're bowling down behind you at normal speed (70) with cars behind us and nowhere to go with nutters cars doing 80+ on the outside lane.
You might be happy in your little bubble but you're not safe.

(Thank you MN, I feel better)

I have an en suite, I like hot tubs, I own a toilet brush

ReneBumsWombats · 26/10/2022 11:53

Are there still people who think middle lane hogging at 70 doesn't cause congestion?

Put them back.my neighbour has one that sounds so bloody wonderful.every time i hear it I literally smile all the way through.

MuchuseasaChocolateTeapot · 26/10/2022 11:55

What are people using other than a loo brush?

it never occurred to pay my cleaner for not being able to come over lockdown.

I do judge people for poor spelling, grammar, children hitting their parents etc but am trying to be less judgemental.

Please stop hogging the middle lane. Changing lanes considerately is called driving. Hogging the middle lane is incompetent and more likely to cause accidents. But no, I would never undertake to make a point.

Itsalloutofwhack · 26/10/2022 11:57

I am loud. I can’t help it. Sometimes you’ll hear me performance parenting but more often it’s me arguing with my children, who are also loud.

Also while I’d never deliberately leave a dog poo behind there have definitely been times that my dog has run off and I’m fairly sure she’s done a poo somewhere.

Can’t stand middle lane hoggers though!

Sistanotcista · 26/10/2022 11:57

@kateandme - thank you. Your post did make me smile. I love them, but the general Mumsnet consensus appears to be negative!!

Don't ever get a dog.

I have however got a mixed breed dog that I paid £450 for (about 7 years ago) and I don't care who knows.

Don’t worry I won’t!

Dontwanttoberudeorwastetime · 26/10/2022 11:10

Isn’t this really, really dangerous?

Balance of risk. If I'm in the 'slow' lane doing 70 behind a wanker doing 60 in the middle lane, I either have to undertake or move across 2 lanes to get past them. It's legal in Canada...

KnackeredHag · 26/10/2022 12:06

I drive a 4x4 with a personalised plate but don’t hog the middle lane. I feel this evens things out 😂

Razzl · 26/10/2022 12:04

Ha Ha! I do pick up it up but I must say it's not my favourite part of being a dog owner.

tkmethrthis · 26/10/2022 12:10

I love a Disney holiday and think it's great to have a bit of escapism.

I didn't LTB, although regretting it a bit now.

I use my tumble dryer loads.

I use a loo brush to clean poo.

FortunesFavour · 26/10/2022 12:10

😂😂quite right @KnackeredHag, you have realigned the balance of the universe and the number plate sin is now null and void 👍

NippyWoowoo · 26/10/2022 12:22

FortunesFavour · 26/10/2022 10:47

God there are some crappy drivers on here. FYI, it is not mandatory to go at 70moh on the motorway, that is the maximum Plenty below that speed in the left at eg 65, and sadly also in the middle at 65 due to all the middle lane hoggers.

Mid-lane hoggers are ignoring the Highway Code, causing others to weave around dangerously, causing tailbacks and accidents. The rules are there for a reason.

I can’t be bothered to explain the motorway driving rules to those who insist this is their right. Go and read the Highway Code and stop thinking g that the rules don’t apply to you.

Also if you can’t cope with mirror, signal, manoeuvre and are talking about being frightened of lane changing due to scary lorries, then you shouldn’t be on the motorway.

Anyway I will stop derailing the thread now.

you can let it all out here

I don't always answer the door when someone knocks it

I don’t ever answer the door when someone knocks, unless they’ve organised it at least a month in advance 😂

DuoLingoMakesMeBingo · 26/10/2022 12:25

I go faster than 70 on motorways. I often go a bit slower than 30 in built up areas. I almost never overtake, even tractors, unless 2 lanes. I drive further back than necessary from the car in front. I've never had or caused an accident.

I have 5 toilets and 5 toilet brushes, one for each.
