Seriously. That’s your beef?

we’ve had huge upheaval and people are starving and you’re concerned about genitalia.

Not genitalia. Women and children's safeguarding. Which vanishes once men can identify as female. If you don't care about the safety of women and children then just bloody say it rather than masking it.

Anybody remember rishis dishes ? Another pointless waste of taxpayer's money.

yes, another way to help many small businesses during a questionable lockdown which was backed by both LABOUR and the TORIES.

People are ignoring the fact that lockdowns have casued this mess, not one party opposed them.

People questioning democracy were probably the ones rubbing their hands in glee at the extended lockdowns.

If people want to be mad, then where were they when we could not visit our relatives, or go for a walk.

Can you not read. I have made other posts on this thread about this situation BUT whenever I see Cooper touted as a Great Hope, I am duty bound to remind people that she publicly declared that to define a woman would be going dow a rabbit hole and declined to do so.

THAT is a fucking big thing unless you think that defining a woman is problematic.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 24/10/2022 14:58

Governments are quick to call snap general elections when they think it will suit them so why shouldn't the people be able to call for one when they've demonstrably failed at governing the country, and broken pretty much every pledge in the manifesto they were elected on?

If we had an election every time a section of the electorate decided they wanted one, we’d never be out of purdah and the entire political system would grind to a halt.

AdoraBell · 24/10/2022 14:58

@Stars71 FIL is racist but DH isn’t. Also, FIL refuses to use the word British. It’s English or nothing.

I live Yvette Cooper.

I don't think she's a silly bitch.

Everybody calling for a GE now would be better off supporting some kind of PR system (assuming they actually do support that, of course!). The issue is FPTP. The majority of people do not have their views represented equally in parliament.

This with bells on.

Jaxhog · 24/10/2022 14:58

And to those calling for a General Election now, you are in cloud cuckoo land! Only the ruling party can call for one, and they are hardly likely to do so at the moment!

girlmom21 · 24/10/2022 14:59

How soon will he announce his cabinet? I think that's more important.

SundownOnTheStair · 24/10/2022 14:59

and @Believeitornot if you seriously think that declining to define a woman by a woman MP is just about genitalia than you need to get with the programme.

She's not a silly bitch. She just doesn't care about safeguarding. It's much worse than just being a 'silly bitch'.

GoldenCupidon · 24/10/2022 14:59

So edifying to see so many people explaining that we live in a parliamentary democracy and you don't vote for the PM etc.

WE KNOW.

Doesn't mean people can't object to this or want change.

Personally I think it's bollocks to say people vote for the party not the leader. Imagine the rage if people voted in say Keir Starmer and after a bit he resigned in favour of Jeremy Corbyn?

I like her I don't live as her. That would be odd.

FrankieStein403 · 24/10/2022 15:00

The government is incompetent and corrupt. That is a more than valid reason for calling for a general election.

The leadership farce is just another proof of incompetenc.

sashagabadon · 24/10/2022 15:00

I definitely don’t want an election. We elect a party not a PM plus it would be more instability.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 24/10/2022 14:06

This is not democracy.

I'm sorry to inform you @MrsRobinsonsHandprints that this is democracy.
100%.

We aren't like the US who has a Presidential form of government.

You voted for your local MP, not a party leader. The only people who voted for Johnson were his constituents. Everyone else voted for a local MP too.

The government has the call over when to have an election. That's how it works.

It's always comical how some people want to change the rules when events don't suit their personal wishes.

RedToothBrush · 24/10/2022 15:01

'This is not democracy'.

Shout all the Labour supporters who are against PR and get a huge benefit from Parliamentary Democracy and will probably get a huge majority and therefore ability change our system when a GE is finally called.

I take it electoral reform is top of the agenda for the manifesto then.

Or not.

I won't hold my breathe.

MultiTulip · 24/10/2022 15:01

Fucking hell. The lack of insight involved in calling someone a ‘silly bitch’ because they’re the wrong kind of feminist for you.

toomuchlaundry · 24/10/2022 15:01

@MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake but is it the same people? Is it mainly Labour supporters who are shouting this now and mainly Tories then?

Goatling · 24/10/2022 15:01

The only thing we can hope for is that he will look after the country's finances as well as he has looked after his own and his wife's.

Stars71 · 24/10/2022 14:35

That's what you would like to think. English isn't a race.

Think what you like. I think his relative who says he's racist can assess that better than you. As far as I'm concerned if someone says that someone English born isn't English on the basis of their ethnicity they're a racist.

My goodness, I'd like to see him try to call me English. Is he extremely stupid and pigheaded as well as racist? Must be trying! Good luck at Christmas.

(I'm Scottish.)

No longer a proud tory today, just canceled my membership. This was the last straw for me and many more members I know. Sorry you can only push your members so far.

Firstly good - second he was the best of a bad bunch at least he has diligence and competency and attention to detail when we are in a perilous financial situation and seeing the outraged Tories gladdens my heart no end so thanks for sharing. The pound has strengthened and so has the bond market they recognise competency when they see it.

These people are here to dismiss the problem out of hand, nothing to see here kind of thing, or they lack the skills to think the problem through. Either way, it's not good. And we all are duty bound to point out the problem every single time
