To ask if Evri (Hermes) is the worst delivery service?

Ok, I have to know if Evri (Hermes) is the worst of the bunch. I've had two parcels get lost in the last month.

My absolutely fave is Royal Mail, but not all shops offer it. So if Royal Mail isn't available is there a lesser evil than Evri?

Actually I just remembered, there was a local Hermes/Evri courier that loads of people in the villages here knew by name. She died a few months back and lots of locals arranged to go to her memorial as she was such a part of the local community

BEAM123 · 21/10/2022 12:24

Yeah they can be Ok or abysmal. One of my recipe boxes arrives with Evri it always arrives but once it had been kicked about.
I have stopped using Vinted as so many things ship with Evri or InPost. I have had about 30-40% of stuff lost (both stuff I have sent through parcel lockers, and stuff I have ordered)

CherryRipe1 · 21/10/2022 12:29

Abysmal...

DelurkingLawyer · 21/10/2022 12:29

Great in my mum’s area and shit in my bit of London. They managed to lose a 10kg sack of pet food which is going it some. However I once had a beauty order turn up long after I had cancelled it and got my money back. Left in a puddle under a bush in the rain, literally a month late. The packaging was soaked and ruined (and a snail had taken up residence inside!) but I must confess I did wash down the bottles and keep the products.

BinBandit · 21/10/2022 12:40

Our local Evri/Hermes is also great. It's Yodel round here that is the worst. I know this from our estate WhatsApp. People trying to hunt down misdelivered parcels all the time. Luckily people always seem to be able to get reunited but it's always Yodel.

BeanieTeen · 21/10/2022 12:41

It’s depends on the person. For years our hermes/evri guy was fab. There’s a new one now and he’s shit and clearly couldn’t care less what he’s delivering where. He also doesn’t knock on the door, he just leaves parcels lying around on porches.

Oysterbabe · 21/10/2022 12:43

I like Evri, no issues in recent years. Plus our Evri man is really hot.

woodhill · 21/10/2022 12:45

Mine is excellent

SirenSays · 21/10/2022 12:48

Hermes was so bad I stopped using them. Whenever I'd make an online order anywhere I'd email and request they not use them to ship my items.
Evri aren't as bad but I still have drivers lie and say they can't find/access my house.

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 21/10/2022 12:49

We've got a brilliant driver but I have had such bad experiences with Evri and so has she. They are a nightmare.

She was off sick for 5 weeks, they didn't organise cover and nobody had parcels for 5 weeks.

lapasion · 21/10/2022 12:51

The Inpost Lockers are awful. I thought they’d be easier, as they have them at my local supermarket so can just drop stuff off or pick it up on way home. Nope. They’re always full, and if sellers do manage to get things in the locker, it’ll literally never get to you. I’m not even exaggerating. I bought five things from Vinted a month ago and only one arrived. The other four are in various states of tracking and I can’t get a bloody refund because it’s ‘in transit’.

35965a · 21/10/2022 12:55

I find Evri good in my area, the courier has been doing it for years and she’s an absolute gem.

Lilylovetulips · 21/10/2022 13:03

Evri are brilliant I'm my area. No issues at all.

Inpost are terrible, I've had a couple of things go missing with them.

Chewmebacca · 21/10/2022 13:03

I've had disasters with them all. We moved into a new build 3 years ago and I STILL have delivery companies claiming that my house simply does not exist. Despite the same company being able to deliver a parcel here the week beforehand.

Royal mail once delivered DHs trainers to the right address, but the wrong town.

DPD are generally a disaster. Last week they left my parcel at the back of my neighbours house because neighbours put a sign on their door saying to leave parcels at the rear. They didn't actually stop to check they had the right house number!

Evri have been better of late, but they've lost my recent Next parcel so I'm pissed off with them currently.

Yodel refuse to accept my house exists.

I live close to an Amazon warehouse. Lots of people local to the area who live in the new estate work there. But even they struggle to find my house sometimes! 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Soubriquet · 21/10/2022 13:05

Ours is pretty good. The app works nicely at the tracking and it delivers when it says it should.

I also had to have it redelivered to another address and they did that without question too.

TomAllenWife · 21/10/2022 13:05

Oh no I love our Evri driver
He will happily let himself in the side gate and put things in the shed
He's fab

CustardySergeant · 21/10/2022 13:06

DotBall · 21/10/2022 12:09

Our local Evri delivery man is SUPERB. I think it really depends on you local team.

Same here. I've never had a single problem.

SavingsThreads · 21/10/2022 13:12

Even/Hermes are awwwwwwwful.

Currently sat waiting for my parcel that was supposed to come yesterday. They came, took a picture of it on my doorstep, then took it away again.

Ladyoftheprom · 21/10/2022 14:00

Our delivery man is amazing!

cobblers123 · 21/10/2022 14:10

I hope I'm not going to regret saying this but I've always had good service from Evri/Hermes and even Yodel.

My delivery from Evri yesterday came ten minutes after the slot I had been emailed and the driver handed it to me, it wasn't dropped on the step and he was two miles down the road by the time I opened the front door. He also wished me a nice evening, which was nice.

Great service.

FarmGirl78 · 21/10/2022 14:49

They really are a giant bag of shite. If you work full time so can't be at home, or if something goes wrong they are the worst, really really awful. I've had an order go missing, despite being marked at delivered, they then changed their mind and said it had been damaged in transit and would have to be taken back to the depot to get re-wrapped, then they changed their mind again and said it's been lost and they never had it. It's been 3 weeks and I've not managed to speak to a human yet. The cut and pasted replies from their bot are useless.

If there was a button to click I would actively choose to avoid sellers on eBay etc that use Evri. There's nothing worse than ordering online and then realising its the dreaded Evri.

Worriedddd · 21/10/2022 14:54

Royal mail is the worst at the moment because of all the strikes. I've never had a Hermes parcel go missing I have them delivered to my corner shop and I collect them there. I've had a few royal mail ones never arrived or arrive 2 weeks after ordering !!!

MajorlyOutnumbered · 21/10/2022 15:02

Our Evri delivery driver is also great. She is always kind, stops to chat and leaves my parcels when I am out. Love her

Royal Mail at the minute though 😭parcel not delivered on Wednesday, even though I was in. It was then conveniently taken past a bunch of local post offices to the main depot 5 miles away. Strike Thursday. Rocked up today just after 10 to find that they only open from 8- 10 on weekdays. My fault for not checking the opening times but I never expected them to be that brief!

Whinge · 21/10/2022 15:07

My fault for not checking the opening times but I never expected them to be that brief!

You're not the only one to be surprised at how brief the opening hours are. It'salmost impossible to collect during the tiny window they're open, and that was before the strikes.

Whinge · 21/10/2022 15:09

It's almost impossible

I'm not sure what happend to my post there. Grin
