@Jourdain11 Apparently Walter Harrison used to knock blokes up against the wall and squeeze their balls

Lovely, remind me what decade that was in ?

Jourdain11 · 19/10/2022 20:48

Hmm, I understand the point of physical voting. I think it is harder to vote on a whim and going through the lobby does allow for genuine persuasive conversations. More so on small votes and issues than Great Matters of State.

80s? I didn't say I approved, btw!!

It's really unprofessional actually.

Why did he say it?

I think it's a pretty chaotic time, people do swear, but yes a bit much.

Yes it is and he has said sorry, i'm also sure Steve Baker as an ex RAF man has been called worse but its also not remotely relevant to what is happening to this once great country.

As much as i want the Tory party to disintegrate, i also don't want them to take the rest of us with them.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/10/2022 20:54

Nice whataboutery going on here. Physically forcing people through lobbies is not a democratic way to do business and what happened tonight was not normal, no matter how people may justify it.

Lonelycrab · 19/10/2022 20:54

But Baker is a cunt. No need for apologies there IMHO Krish

I trust Krish GMs opinion a thousand fold over any of Truss’s mob, they are acting appallingly! Yes, it’s a powerful word not to be taken lightly.

This is the sort of time you use it.

Tory minister - who is publicly very loyal to Truss - says it's over

No one seems to know if the Chief Whip is still in position or not. Fucking shambles

BirmaBrite · 19/10/2022 20:56

@derxa It's really unprofessional actually.

It was off air and to be fair Steve Baker does come across as a bit of a daft twat at the best of times. When the Government is imploding like a really heavy on the special effects Dr Who episode and causing untold misery and uncertainty to millions of people across the UK who they have a duty of care towards, well a one off expletive seems quite tame really !

Oh, so it wasn't live on air? Well that changes things tbf.

@the80sweregreat the communities that will want fracking will be the ones offered 'incentives' (aka money). Maybe more will go for this option if there are big spending cuts Angry

Whatever finacial bribes the government offer locals on fracking is unlikely to offset the huge drop in the value of their home if it goes ahead. I have always considered myself to be pretty centrist politically, but I think I can now confidently say I HATE THE TORIES 😡

BirmaBrite · 19/10/2022 21:04

Its like Parliament is stuck in a 'Life on Mars' episode, who's going to fire up the Quattro ? Hunt or Truss ? Smile

ultra-safe Tory constituency

not sure such a thing exists anymore

BirmaBrite · 19/10/2022 21:16

not sure such a thing exists anymore

Given the geographical areas the key fracking areas cover, they are certainly dwindling if those incumbant MP's vote in favour of it.

BirmaBrite · 19/10/2022 21:20

@AlecTrevelyan006 so on air but supposed to be off air ? Oops !

I agree. I think we’re all grown up enough to deal with the odd expletive.

Its not that long ago the MP who gave the public the middle finger got nicely promoted to education minister.

Thats the thing with setting standards, it’s contagious.

Alexandra2001 · 19/10/2022 21:25

what a ch4 news journalist said, is irrelevant to a thread on Truss, esp as he never addressed it to her.

whataboutery, hence Clavinova jumping on it with glee.
