YABVU. Fusili is one of the best.

ThisIsMeToooo · 17/10/2022 20:32

Having just discovered bucatini spaghetti I would agree. Love this stuff!

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 17/10/2022 20:33

Very unreasonable.

Fusili and penne are god tier, spaghetti is definitely shit tier.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 17/10/2022 20:33

They’re all good for different types of sauces I think

theDudesmummy · 17/10/2022 20:34

I love tagliatelle

lugeforlife · 17/10/2022 20:36

We had this debate in my house yesterday.

Dd adamant spaghetti number 2, fusilli next tier and anything with a hole bad.

I disagree- macaroni and tagliatelle at the top, most others mid tier. I'd put orzo at the bottom

QuizzlyBears · 17/10/2022 20:36

YABU. Tagliatelle is above spaghetti! Gigli is the god tier.

mynameiscalypso · 17/10/2022 20:36

Spaghetti is definitely shit tier. Linguine and tagliatelle are mid tier. Orecchiette are the best.

Yes aren’t that different shapes supposed to hold or cling to sauces in different ways? So it’s reasonable that they have different intensities of flavour!

Bigslippers · 17/10/2022 20:37

Agree with you completely but you need to rearrange

Good - spaghetti, tagliatelle, linguine
mid - fusilli, penne
crap - farfalle (always a hard bit) rigatoni…(always makes me feel like a child)
Orzo - havent tried as I don’t understand it and what Id have to go with it

Agree. They all have their role.

Just be glad you’re not gluten free OP. I would kill for a tiny bowl of any of your shit tier 😩

GF pasta isn’t the same before anyone tries to suggest it.

Umbrella1 · 17/10/2022 20:39

You so wrong all pasta are great as long you use them with the sauce they belong to!!! And real sauce no fucking shit jar dolmio !

HighlandPony · 17/10/2022 20:39

Spaggi and conchigli are king!

Spaghetti is definitely shit tier. Linguine and tagliatelle are mid tier. Orecchiette are the best.

I made a recipe recently that specified orecchiette, but I didn’t have any so used whatever was in the cupboard. It never worked properly until I gave in and bought a pack of orecchiette!

pastabest · 17/10/2022 20:41

I could talk all day about pasta.

Mafalda corta is my absolute favourite but I'm also a big fan of a really structured rigatoni or a nice linguine if it's for something really oily/garlicky.

Crankley · 17/10/2022 20:42

I don't eat pasta in any shape, it's all completely tasteless.

Notjusta · 17/10/2022 20:42

My 10 yo thinks penne is the only good pasta. Spaghetti is his worst.

I think all pasta is delicious 😋

have you tried the Barilla ones? I love their gluten free spaghetti and the fusilli is far superior to the supermarket versions.

Discovereads · 17/10/2022 20:43

They all taste the same.

TheSausageKingofChicago · 17/10/2022 20:44

What happened to those little cartwheels? You don’t see those anymore, do you? They were good sauce holders and excellent for preschool crafts.

MsRinky · 17/10/2022 20:44

Farfalle are an abomination. Pappardelle, strozzapreti and cavatelli are god tier for me.

you could say the same about most unseasoned carbs!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 17/10/2022 20:45

They do “taste” different in a way, as the different thickness affects the texture at least.

I wouldn’t put linguine in my top tier though. Rigatoni is definitely the best pasta.

Fairislefandango · 17/10/2022 20:45

They all taste the same (obviously- they are made of exactly the same things), they just vary in texture and carry the sauce differently. I prefer different types according to what I'm eating them with.

Durumwheatmywords · 17/10/2022 20:45

I knew this would be fun :)

Agree with all PP about the sauce of course! But what I find funny is regardless of sauce, I just don't like tagliatelle, but I do like linguine and spaghetti. And at the end of the day it's just a long thin pasta!

Also for what it's worth I much prefer dried to fresh (if store bought)
