Or maybe Tuesday at the latest? Would she really want to face the absolute public humiliation of PMQs on Wednesday?

You can get a degree from oxford and still be thick as pigshit when it comes to common sense, compassion and knowing how the real world works as shown by Johnson too

antelopevalley · 17/10/2022 20:11

Johnson is very bright, he just pretends to be thick. Truss is thick.

lovescats3 · 17/10/2022 20:13

I hope the kids who don't have enough food or heating are ok unlike the rich woman truss kids

BirmaBrite · 17/10/2022 20:19

Its not like she was picked up off the street and told here you go, be PM for a bit. This is someone who is supposedly intelligent, by all the standards that are held in great esteem, worked high up in some big organisations and has been in the Government for more than a decade. Which makes you wonder how she got it all so wrong ?

urbanbuddha · 17/10/2022 20:21

I don't think Johnson is very bright. I think he's bright enough and he's honed his persona and his presentation to fantastic levels, but he doesn't have rigour or clarity of thought.

Normandy144 · 17/10/2022 20:21

There's also the weekly meeting with the King to consider. She met him last Wednesday evening so one might assume she's due to meet him again on Wednesday - if she times it right she can turn her weekly meeting into her resignation meeting. Drinks party in the cabinet I think must be a farewell party and then she'll resign Tuesday.

Vitriolinsanity · 17/10/2022 20:32

It's quite nice really. It's been a while since their was a truly awful catastrophe to celebrate with cheese and wine in No10.

Hubris, maniacal overarching ambition, ruthlessness, lack of empathy and self-awareness, greed, arrogance, lust for power, refusal to countenance the views of others, and stentorian work ethic in the pursuit of all these. In her defence, she got to be PM even if only for a brief moment whereas I got to be happy but impotent and apparently non-compassionately tapping away in an obscure internet forum.

Those are the breaks...

Shagging, lying, drinking and gourmandising have eaten away at his soul so he riffs it at every juncture but he has a fox-like feral intelligence and yes Truss is plain thick.

PleaseGoDontGoAgain · 17/10/2022 20:51

Graham Brady was in the house listening to Penny explain that Truss couldn't be there and didn't say a word about a meeting.
He's in a yellow tie.
He left about 30 minutes before she came in.

That's stone cold if true.

Skyellaskerry · 17/10/2022 20:53

@motherofgodhaudyerwheesht I know what you mean, the sound of collective responsibility is deafening.

The MPs selected LT and Sunak for members to vote on. Many have worked with them both for years. They cannot shirk their responsibility. At the least, if they are critical of anything it should be the leadership system. As things have turned out, they should all own it and be accountable. Problem is that their collective arrogance will prevent this.

Quite.
Also, I had to google one of those words, so thank you for increasing my vocabulary @vera99 Smile

CandyLeBonBon · 17/10/2022 21:09

gourmandising is a word we should use more, I feel!

marmaladepop · 17/10/2022 21:16

This clip of Peter Oborne demolishing her is enlightening. And horrifying at the same time.

Coincidentally that just popped up on my YT feed - and am just watching it - they are evil as is she. Paid for shill for the super rich wouldn't piss on her if she was on fire. The country will pay for that royally in lives and money for generations to come. Let her rot in her own juices.

when have you ever worried about the mental state of a male politician and wonder if his family are checking in.

Tbf I frequently worried about Boris's mental health, especially towards the end.

Yes, very much so have I wondered about a politician's mental health. Charles Kennedy for one, bless him. Tim Farron was distressed too over the choice he made. Diane Abbott has taken a horrible pounding from the press and certain Tory MPs. I'm not happy about the effects of parliamentary party 'knives out' on Rosie Duffield and Joanna Cherry. And David T H Davies.

I hope they all have good people around them.

agree. He’s well educated and the buffoon thing is a persona but that doesn’t make him bright.

EmmaH2022 · 17/10/2022 21:22

I have had concerns over the mental health of politicians of both sexes

not Johnson or Blair though. Teflon types.

Intelligence of any description only gets you so far, lack of competency and an over inflated opinion on your comprehension of matters that you’re not an expert in doesn’t make a good leader. Good leaders draw on knowledge and ability they surround themselves with. Arguably, a good leader doesn’t require a formally ‘excellent’ academic record.

They aren't promoting Self ID. Baverman has clarified that schools don't have to support self id either. Labour will push through Self ID unless women make it clear that it will cost them votes. Hell she's finally telling the police to you know...act on crime, not arrest women for hurting men's feelings. As long as they block Self Id they are doing a lot for women. It's literally they only thing I can think of that they are doing right. Stonewall has infiltrated government departments and businesses - it needs dealing with. Maybe...maybe the Tories will look at it, but if women just ignore this then Labour will pass it.

It comes back to the fact that it's incredibly easy to say things, but in 12 years they've never managed to repeal the relevant legislation. The notion that the Tories have any interest in promoting feminism is absolutely farcical.

Indeed, particularly given that the possibility of Penny Mordaunt as PM still cannot be ruled out.

Sure, some of the Tories know what a woman is and are willing to say so. We still nearly got self ID on their watch and they've still done fuck all of any benefit on the issue legislatively.

BirmaBrite · 17/10/2022 21:45

I think that Peter Oborne clip sums up what I have been saying for a while, the Conservative party is no longer the Conservative party, they have been captured.
