The law, science and medical guidelines don’t apply to her apparently.

OP I started basically the same thread earlier, you are right she’s a disgrace. She cannot be our health minister.

Ah, sorry. I was too incensed to search.

You can hold armfuls of degrees and still be an incredibly stupid person

This is so true!
There are many types of intelligence - some of the most valuable ones are not learned from a book!

Thedogscollar · 16/10/2022 20:41

PurpleDaisy2114 · 16/10/2022 19:53

I think her comment about nurses should leave if they want to is also pretty dispicable

Exactly. Be careful what you wish for!!
The mass exodus exploded with covid and still ongoing. We have students leaving not even qualified and see a career in the NHS as an unenviable option.

VinoDino · 16/10/2022 20:42

I've met lots of people who hold degrees/ PhD's and are thick as mince with no common sense. Luckily they have never been the Health Secretary. God help us all.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/10/2022 20:46

YANBU. However what I think of this women really isn't fit for print so ill keep my big mouth shut or I really won't stop.

Thedogscollar · 16/10/2022 20:54

Common sense is not a prerequisite for gaining a degree. I have met many highly academic people with zero common sense.
Intelligence can be demonstrated in many ways sharing your meds is most definitely not one of them.

lljkk · 16/10/2022 20:56

When did Coffey give the antiBs to a friend, 2022 or 1992? I had people (one was a dentist, even) offering me their spare antibiotics in the 1990s-early 2000s. It's very normal in many parts of world to share nowadays. I'm not saying it's ok to do, but in the grand scheme of things... it's a mistake, not a sacking offence.

PUER125 · 16/10/2022 20:59

She a has a chemistry PhD from one of the world's top universities.

But no common sense.

In my world, we call these people educated idiots!

StoneofDestiny · 16/10/2022 21:05

I don't get this 'oh she must be clever, she has many degrees' stuff!
Its how you apply your intelligence that defines your character. A person with a science degree who is devoid of compassion, humanity and morality is a dangerous person.

Let's not forget highly qualified scientists used their intelligence to construct gas chambers, the A bomb, poisonous gas, the electric chair, missiles - to name a few.

With respect it is a sacking offence. She is the Health Secreatary passing on medication prescribed for HER and NOT her friend.

The friend could have been allergic to the antibiotics resulting in a reaction or at worst an anaphylactic reaction which is life threatening. They could also have reacted badly with other meds her friends were taking.

This is such a dangerous thing to do and by doing so she may well make other less thinking people think this is ok when it patently isn't.

LizzieSiddal · 16/10/2022 21:15

Liz Triss went to Oxbridge, she”s also as thick as shit. How else can you describe a person who ignores ALL worldwide advice, brings in tax cuts and borrows money to do it, then is very surprised when she sinks the economy?

People who believe having a “good education” means someone knows what you’re doing and cannot be stupid, are particularly dangerous.

lljkk · 16/10/2022 21:21

Did Coffey pass on the antiBs since 5 September 2022, else when did it happen?

Changechangychange · 16/10/2022 21:22

the80sweregreat · 16/10/2022 20:08

She likes Dr Dre though.
About the only good thing about her

With that, the drinking and smoking I am now having trouble seeing her as anyone other than Father Fintan Stack

asblindasabat · 16/10/2022 21:24

I’m not impressed by her latest comments.

she shouldn’t be Health Secretary never mind Deputy Prime Minister.

a real slap in the face to our brilliant health care workers

Howk · 16/10/2022 21:36

I am horrified by her comments. Fucking idiot woman.

NHS microbiology specialist here…. What does she think I actually do all day long at work?? Not working my hardest to fucking combat antibiotic resistance.
It really is like a slap in the face @asblindasabat

I just want to say thank you for all your hard work! It’s a shame our health secretary can’t say thank you and give you all a pay rise!!

Ok I know there’s probably more to it but if I was health secretary I sure as hell would not be making the comments she has made and I’d be actively finding a way to make sure all health staff get a reasonable pay rise!

itsnotmeitsu · 16/10/2022 22:11

When you're prescribed antibiotics you're told it's important to take them as prescribed, and finish the course. If the current health secretary is not following this advice, but also passing on prescribed medication to others, she's not only being irresponsible, she's also contributing to antibiotic resistence. But hey, ho, she's only the Health Secretary.

the80sweregreat · 16/10/2022 22:14

Chris Whitty has been asked about this too I read today : he is probably holding his head in his hands as speak!

cakeorwine · 16/10/2022 22:16

VerinMathwin · 16/10/2022 20:14

She a has a chemistry PhD from one of the world's top universities. I always find it amusing when posters go around calling people like that thick as shit. Take a look in the mirror.

Someone with such an understanding of science should be aware of antibiotic resistance.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 16/10/2022 22:20

Lizz Truss is her best friend so what do you expect

Well, Kwasi Kwarteng was said to be one of her best friends and she sacked him, so ...

Anyway if all the current politicians who are as thick as pig dribble were sacked there'd be nobody left

Snoozer11 · 16/10/2022 22:26

Ghastly woman.

Unbelievably somehow worse on the inside than the outside.

twelly · 16/10/2022 22:43

I don't agree with much of what TC says but on this particular point I think she just stated an action she had taken at some point which maybe other do - it is not a major breach surely

Have you actually read the comments from health professionals that have been asked to comment on this act of total stupidity?
What part of sharing drugs especially antibiotics prescribed for you and you only is safe and should be widely advocated?
